Apparently my whole email issue was Gmail auto filtering out the "Social Updates" smart label. Now that that's turned off and some fonts are moved over, everything works.
An update was just released; I'll try and find a changelog.
No change log yet, but I was able to update the list of working/non working games in the OP. The best changes involve Killing Floor, Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45 and Serious Sam 3: BFE now working. ( For non-beta users too! C: )
Will join in when more games are ported.

Finally got SS3 running: Ultra settings, 1280x720, GTX 570. They did a good job, the game actually looks really polished - it does have FPS drops for no apparant reason (down to 25) - and considering the resolution.. well, maybe it's just the drivers. Still - progress! Can't wait to see more AAA games on Linux. [editline]12th November 2012[/editline] Killing Floor runs good as well.
Anyone know if this is working under xubuntu?
WARNING - LARGE VIDEO (high quality) [vid]http://f.elup.me/ss3.mp4[/vid] Direct download link - http://f.elup.me/ss3.mp4 (right click - save as) Low FPS due to the recording at times, but it's pretty solid.
Anyone know if this is working under xubuntu?
It does.

i5-2500k, GTX 560Ti 448 core on the 310 drivers with Highest settings. I'll get round to making a bug report on the TW forums later, guess this should be addressed asap.
Dammit, now it's happening to me as well.
I was playing KF fine with a HD7850 just fine.
I was playing KF fine with a HD7850 just fine.
With everything set to highest and AF forced via driver?
With everything set to highest and AF forced via driver?
I think so.
did the update allow it to be able to be installed on 64 bit systems or is that still not fixed?
did the update allow it to be able to be installed on 64 bit systems or is that still not fixed?
I installed it fine on my 64bit system, just grab the 32bit libs. "sudo apt-get install ia32-libs"

I was lucky enough to get a UDS invite.
so what's going to happen if you try to run a Windows game you own on Steam using Wine? In the past you had to install the Windows version of Steam to run your Windows Steam games. Do you have to do that as well now or does Steam for Linux have a solution?

Only games you can play on Steam for Linux are those with native Linux support. Maybe sometime down the line Valve would support downloading windows binaries to play through Wine all in the Linux client, but for now, you gotta switch between them.

The day all the games on Steam are available on Linux, is the day I switch to Linux.
The day all the games on Steam are available on Linux, is the day I switch to Linux.
not going to happen, i'm afraid. that's the sacrifice of using a free and ultimately better os.
