Fuck I just recently watched a clip about Reach, now I'm excited. This looks actually like a kickass game.
I also love how we can Elites again, I prefered them instead of brutes.
Also weapons look fucking great.
Super long halo post
Halo 1: Kicked off the start of a new generation of consoles with the "Console Shooter" offering a new foray for everyone to get into the shooter genre.
Halo 2: Expanded upon the original game with a huge overhaul, and this game jumpstarted Xbox Live. Set in motion the forces that created the modern day Internet-Capabilities of our consoles.
Halo 3: Added HD... Uh... yay. Also left with a bit of a cliffhanger/ending.
Halo ODST: Covered some of the alternate points of view of the Halo universe, but loses the action-feel with dramatic music and sad sequencing.
Halo: Reach. Wraps up loose ends pertaining to the plot and history of the series, and adds some unique gameplay features that don't necessary revolutionize the genre, but give it a new take on the series.
Halo 1 and 2 were great, the series went down-hill, but I'm pleased where Reach is taking it. I'm glad the series is ending because Bungie has created a series that nobody can really live up to anymore. It is *THE* console-shooter. Gears of War is great by any means, but it's not HALO.
We got something at least. Epic Blood Gulch is going to be epic.
Lemme media tag that for ya, dude.

I can't fucking wait for Reach. I distinctly remember teaming up with people on Facepunch to play through Halo 3 and ODST's campaigns on Heroic and/or Legendary at or near launch, and it was amazing fun.
I hope we can keep that pseudo-tradition alive.
New Bungie day fun! Everyone has flaming helmet and a bungie logo by their name in lobbies.
I am seriously considering getting the Legendary edition of Halo Reach just for the flaming helmet effect.
If anybody wants to play a few rounds of firefight or something, my Gamertag is Mombasa360.
I tried Halo 2 Vista yesterday; I had no idea the game looked that much better on PC (graphics were still subpar, but a good improvement over the original version, especially at 60 frames).
What do you mean sub-par? Sub-par compared to what? Halo 2 was one of the best looking games of the "old" generation. That is before next-gen became a buzzword. In fact it was so amazingly detailed that a lot of people mistook the realtime cinematics for just very bad FMV's. They even had some realtime reflections going on before they decided it was too taxing on the old box.
Played the PC ports of Halos 1 and 2, then stopped paying attention to the series once I learned that Wars, ODST, 3, and Reach will never get PC ports.
IMHO the PC port is terrible, can't speak for Halo 2 but I just couldn't get the same kick out of Halo PC. It was like the soul was missing. It really is designed for the Xbox controller. The old one was best IMHO but the 360 one does the job well enough, if you can remember which shoulder button is supposed to be white. In fact that was why I got an Xbox in the first place, I'm a PC gamer, but I love Halo and I couldn't bear the PC shit. Mouse aiming is too frivolous and empty. And the controls only painfully map to the standard WASD layout.

I mean sub-par, as in the graphics were pretty mediocre in some respects, and in comparison to other games on the same system, especially the facial models and textures.
And I was mainly referring to the PC port.
Is anyone getting the Legendary Edition?
Nah, the only reason why I would buy it is because of the statue. It would be cheaper if I just buy the statue off of Amazon for $30.
Damn it, I wanted to use the flaming helmet. I came back from a week-long camp and got the Bungie news thing and was pumped that I could use it. Then I saw that I didn't have it. Although I did unlock the Security helmet and Katana a while ago. I loves both. <3
Came back to Halo 3 today. Did fantastic in Squad Battle. Anybody else still giving the old girl a ride?

I play occasionally. I'm an average player though.
holy shit, blood gulch. Just from the beta, I didnt really want it too mcuh, I will still probably get it but I was gonna wait, a while, get it used, but holy crap with blood gulch and the space skirmish, sounds pretty cool. Is the hologram real or did they make it up?
[editline]11:17PM[/editline]
Halo is pretty much the only FPS I still play, I got bored of COD and bc2
Is the hologram real or did they make it up?
It's real. There's also other armour stuff. The beta has all the information in there. Have you not seen the list of stuff they learned from looking at beta tags?
was it just be, or in the beta, did the elites seem the same as the spartan III's? I know they were bigger, and their health recharges, but I thought that if they both shot at each other at the same time with the same weapon, the elite would always win, but I found that it was pretty equal, and they just used that BR thing (can't remember what its called) and sometimes they wouldnt even get past the first stage

The first level of that spartans vs elites thing was lopsided as fuck, thats why they never got past 1st stage

Ignore the dumb edits to it by the people who pulled all the strings. And yeah these are real. I've got them pulled up right now from the boneyard.map file if you'd like a screenshot.
When I saw the RvB: Reach Blood Gulch reveal my jaw literally dropped open at the end.
I hope to fucking hell you can climb up those boulders and walk up to that huge, forerunner structure in the background. The gap in the trees leading up to it looks like it's specifically there to drive vehicles up, so here's hoping it's not just part of the sexy skybox.
I completely finished ODST a few days ago (1000 GamerScore)...
Wasn't really that satisfying honestly and has barely any replay value.

Speak for yourself, no offense. Sure the handling of all types of movement felt rather floaty, but I was an excellent player on the PC version, to the point that I could dominate my entire old school single-handedly - Xbox and its controllers, eehhhhh not so much. Plus the PC version was the one I played first, so... Yeah, kinda biased here.
I will say that the default controls for halo CE on the PC are absolute crap, but at least it's easy enough to change them
Oh man I can't wait for the frantic glitch, skull, and secret hunt Halo games always have on release.
Those new vehicles sound awesome.

Don't disagree if you don't disagree.
Are there any playlists that let you play Infection? That game-mode is intense.

Just depends on what you're more familiar with. It took me a long time to get used to a keyboard and mouse after using a controller since the days of crash bandicoot. I still prefer controllers a little bit, though.

Custom game matchmaking would be pretty great, but I think it's gonna be weekends only on official playlists. Which is a shame.
I love the more "practicality over looks" style of things on the Halo:Reach, shit is fucking manly now.
