Got an idea. Just throwing it out there. Why don't us FP'ers get together and play some good ol' halo 3 custom games. all my friends are "MATCHMAKING THIS" and "MATCHMAKING THAT" and we never play custom games.

this, the removal of rocket race and big team is what killed halo 3 for me, but I couldn't give less of a damn about the mp, I love the games story and SP, halo 1 was fun, so was the second and third, and I can't wait for reach.

That's why I'm trying to put in more about the books, to divert the whole thought that the game is all 12 year olds and racists on Xbox Live. It's not. It's a pretty damn epic series with many memorable moments and the multiplayer is solid and fun as long as you mute the assholes(which I don't run into that often).
Also, updated the thread. Added books, machinima and expanded the Reach section.
Ah Halo 1. I might play that demo again.
On my bungie.net profile it says I've played somewhere around 1500 custom games and maybe 500 matchmaking games. And I bet that maybe 1/3 of those custom games were me only.
I don't get the ODST hate. People treat it like an actual whole new game, it's more of an expansion to Halo 3 than anything.
Hence, 'Halo 3: ODST'. The clue's in the name.

It was full price when it was essentially enough an expansion pack
Some people are extremly fussy about getting the full value and in their opinions ODST didn't give them the value they wanted
I personally like Halo but it is way over hyped, I'd play it more if I had Xbox live. However, I dislike the community, mainly little idiots thinking they're so "pr0" and "1337"

Anyway, I loved Halo 1, game was great, halo 2 was alright, fun with friends but the style became ugly, halo 3 was horrible, ODST was worse, and reach looks like halo 3 with a few addons

Bungie wanted it to cost $30 or something, Microsoft overrode that decision.

Nah, kids from Halo 3, which there are still penty of, will jump to Reach, and then CoD:MW2 kids will jump to Reach, because they think Treyarch games suck balls, simply for the fact that it wasn't made by Infinity Ward.
Sadly, they're a permanent stain on the series...

the other day i went to half price books near my house and found an unopened in perfect condition halo 2 limited edition for 5.98$ i was so happy i bought it on the spot
Halo 3 is like 2-face from batman. You have the high-strung crazy side (Halo 3) then you have the more subtle and more sane side (ODST).
