This is why I hate the majority of Halo players. About 10-20% play for fun, the rest play for e-peen, or in the very very very vain hope that an MLG pro will find them and take them away to a lifestyle of playing tournaments for cash.
So untrue. Social Slayer Big Team Any other social playlist 7 out of the 8 people "Okay I'm on th back of your mongoose now annnd BOOM flying though the Air HOLY SHIT WE SPLATTERED SOMEONE" The other 1 "You all suck and are fucking BK faggot kids" Other 7 "Fuck off, we're having fun"
On Halo 3 I'll play Social Slayer and do nothing but drive around the map in a Mongoose or Warthog just trying to splatter people. I'd have so much fun and when I got a kill I'd cheer.
I like the obscene amount of customization options they've included in Reach's Firefight mode: http://www.bungie.net/News/content.aspx?type=topnews&link=BWU_061810
The marines on the ground better play a big role in the campaign, I love'em.
I think they're UNSC Army actually. And me too.
i'm pretty sure halo is just a rip off of Unreal
i'm pretty sure halo is just a rip off of Unreal
It sure is, along with the story and models! :downs: In that same sense, early Call of Duty is just a rip off of Medal of Honor and Half Life is a rip off of Quake.
Oh how I remember sniping with the pistol on Boarding Action. Good times, good times.
I just played halo 3 and did possibly the best I've ever done. I forgot how fun this game could be.
thank you for banning the troll, benji.
Does anybody experience this phenomena when, after not playing for awhile, you're better at the game? I returned to Halo today, and I did significantly better than I did a few months ago.
Halo has nice MP. I really wish Reach was available for PC and ACTUALLY CODED FOR PC. Not just a shitty port.
Wait, Reach is getting a port? [editline]07:34PM[/editline] The books are my favorite part of Halo after the first game. Especially The Fall of Reach, I looovveeee The Fall of Reach.
So far no, he's just saying that if they did make a PC version, which they probably won't, that they didn't just make a shitty port.
So far no, he's just saying that if they did make a PC version, which they probably won't, that they didn't just make a shitty port.
Halo 1 PC wasn't that bad a port. There's still hope.
I love these games, but I can't bear to see the universe get raped so. Halos 1 and 2 were great, but Halo 3 sort of shat on the expectations set by the number one truly epic cliffhanger of all time that was the Halo 2 ending. All the tension just sort of fizzled out. It walked the finely balanced edge of stupidity throughout. And it didn't answer any of the questions I had from the previous games. Ultimately unsatisfactory, but pretty epic nonetheless. And of course the same gameplay over again was getting trite, and the visual style was changed too much for comfort IMHO. And I didn't like how the Brutes who in Halo 2 was a welcome breath of fresh air to the gameplay became a skin for the elites in 3. Played exactly the same. And it messed with the continuity of the brutes. But then you have the expanded universe, the books, the comics, the spinoffs, all shitting all over everything. I don't care what you say, Eric Nylund is a terrible, terrible writer, and The Fall of Reach fell far short of my expectations. I'm currently stuck halfway through Ghosts of Onyx because I can't bear to read one more goddamn page of that tripe. Yet I want to consume all that is Halo. I am looking immensely forward to The Cole Protocol as it is written by Bungies very own Joseph Staten. But the shittyness of Ghosts is preventing me from getting there. The only one that was remotely bearable was The Flood. Which despite being largely a simple retelling of the game as played on easy - without any of the cool moments, where the hell is my "all I want to know Cortana is: Did we loose them?" line??! - it did expand the events of the game decently, and the Private Jenkins arc was very good. Even if the quality of the writing was such that you could actually tell the difference between what was ripped right from the game and what was original. Halo Wars looked promising, as the brand obviously is known for enabling on console what was previously thought to be the domain of PC gaming. Ensemble Studios no less, the creators of the epic Age Of games, it could only be good right? I have yet to go beyond the first level because of boredom. Not only with the gameplay that ultimately boils down to spamming the "select all" button, but also the retarded units and dumb cutscenes and shitty story that shits all over my beloved continuity. ODST was interesting, but like Halo 3 I feel it took way too many liberties. The New Mombasa shown in ODST is a very cool place, but unfortunately I can't reconcile it with the New Mombasa I know from Halo 2; which ultimately is an important point of reference. Brutes in full Halo 3 gear long before the Covenant civil war even starts according to the events of Halo 2, combat scarabs where there should have been diggers, and so on. It just isn't the Halo I knew. Still, you gotta admire Bungies storytelling ability, I am told ODST is a better Dantes Inferno than EAs Dantes Inferno. Reach looks incredibly interesting for many of these reasons, not only are they shaking up the gameplay - which had become quite stale by Halo 3, - they seem to realize what made the original so great and incorporates that into the new design. Bungie practically shaped matchmaking as a multiplayer platform, and they are making extensive changes to their system. They could do it again. And finally, despite even worse stylistic liberties taken, the story is Bungies very own take on the fall of Reach; and to my delight they have said keeping continuity with the books is low on their list of priorities. Don't even get me started on Legends.... [editline]02:27AM[/editline]
I personally like Halo but it is way over hyped, I'd play it more if I had Xbox live. However, I dislike the community, mainly little idiots thinking they're so "pr0" and "1337"
Welcome to the Internet. I think Halo is best played splitscreen with friends, that is after all what the original community was forced to form around.
I saw a limited edition of Halo 2 in a local store here. Should I buy it?
not unless you want to just play singleplayer
I saw a limited edition of Halo 2 in a local store here. Should I buy it?
it's worth owning for the sp alone...well thats all it has now that mp has been shut down, but the limited edition case is cool.
halo 2 had a pretty weak campaign in my opinion
it's worth owning for the sp alone...well thats all it has now that mp has been shut down, but the limited edition case is cool.
That, and Conversations from The Universe is pretty awesome.
Well at least the flood will be absent from Reach, they were getting really old and just plain annoying after Halo 2. EDIT: That is, unless Bungie severely rapes the canon storyline.
halo 2 had a pretty weak campaign in my opinion
I don't see why anyone thinks that. The only flaws that I can see with it is the Arbiter's unexpected missions, which can urk some people, and the cliffhanger ending, which shouldn't be included in consideration of the campaign in total.
Well at least the flood will be absent from Reach, they were getting really old and just plain annoying after Halo 2.
*jump to September 14th*
Hey guys, the penultimate level sucks. You have to fight seven thousand Flood while getting a tentacle anally inserted into your liver from Gravemind. It's exactly like it sounds.

I saw a limited edition of Halo 2 in a local store here. Should I buy it?
Best limited edition ever.
Does anybody experience this phenomena when, after not playing for awhile, you're better at the game? I also noticed that if I play for like 3-4 hours, I start to do REALLY bad (This happens to me with EVERY game).
i loved the halo trilogy, wars and odst. i was reading around on reach'es forums and discovered, that dice is not the only developer bullshitting their fans. all i am going to say now is, get away from reach while you still can, if you have a mic, chances are assholes are going to mute you, and once enough assholes mute you... well... MUTEBAN (automutes you for everyone you play with) see http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=44596851
Halo is shit for the most part except for combat evolved.
What I've noticed about Reach is the fact that the technology is somehow vastly more futuristic appearing than what's seen in the previous games. Nitpicking, but it is slightly annoying.
