I really and truly am the only one who liked Halo 2. It wasn't better than Halo:CE by far but it was still a solid enough shooter and was enjoyable enough for me. Although Halo:CE kept me hooked a lot longer than Halo 2. My friend came over everyday(including that Christmas day where I got the console first) to finish it. Halo 2 dragged a bit in the middle and we kinda lost interest.
Halo 2 is the best in the series no doubt. The story was much deeper and more intriguing than in the first, the campaign had more varied and interesting settings, and it pretty much revolutionized online gaming on consoles. It was the best online console game for years after it came out and honestly I got more playtime and fond memories out of that game than I did from Halo 1. Also I liked the ending. It was a serious cliffhanger but what did you expect? It's not like the game ended too early, it was a pretty long campaign, and did anyone really think that they would show Master Chief "finishing the fight" when it was only the second game? What would they have saved for the third game if they did that.
The old xbox scratch disks the same way, that point is invalid, why people keep bringing it up I don't know. But it also has built in super fast wi-fi, 250 gb HDD, special design, new touch buttons, and custom sounds. It also comes with two controllers.
I made sure my new elite doesn't scratch by playing a game and moving it around. M$ added a buffer so that the disc can't tilt far enough. Also, the wi-fi is not N. I understand if you need a new console but if somebody has one that works fine why spend $400 for this or $300 for the black verison? The Halo stuff is pretty damn cool though; its one redeeming quality in my eyes.

Could you elaborate? I only have an elite and am not going to get a slim unless mine breaks or I come into a large some of money.
H2 is the best
I agree completely.
Halo ODST had an awesome live action trailer for it, thereby ODST is awesome.
Halo 3 had THREE awesome live action trailers, though.
*Rant start* Halo CE is so overated yes it was a good game but there was a lot of shit missing/broken. The overpowered pistol that everyone seems to think is a great but at the same time hates the BR. Weapons/Vehicles that were unusable by the player. Killing hunters with one pistol shot. The only thing it had over the other games was its long story and missions. People need to take off their nostalgia goggles. Halo 2 was the best one. *Rant over* Now that my rant is over for those wondering how long the campaign is its ten missions, a few employees did mythic difficulty (all skulls on legendary) one mission took them 6 hours. Also theres going to be an annoucement today at 5:30 GMT.

Unusable weapons? Well uh, that has nothing to do with this. You can't use the Combine sniper in half life 2 either. Killing Hunters with one pistol shot was weird but I don't mind it, they're easy as pie anyway. Halo 2 was the worst one for me, I had no interest in the story, I didn't like the battle rifle they kept pushing me to use, dual wielding is meh, and the graphics felt muddy. Multiplayer might have been good but I didn't own a xbox back then, and I'm not much of a multiplayer person either.
Reach, in my opinion, looks like an attempt at keeping up with all of the new shit coming out, but leaving the original suit that MC wore in the original series. It's not going to be a fun Halo game if it's all about combat that is almost exactly like Call of Duty's. I will admit my post was dumb, but ODST was broken(I wandered in circles around a stupid fountain as Rookie trying to see what the beacon was leading to, but nothign happened). I guess I'm just being a fanboy of Halo 1 because it was the best in the series, but that's my opinion.
They're trying to do something new and fresh, not copy anybody. It's going to be -10% like any Call of Duty. Chances are it's going to be the other way around and everybody else is going to rush to copy Reach because it's going to sell hotter than bread in a furnace. Just like it was with Halo 2.
I fucking loved Halo 2. Letting us play from the other side was one of the most fucking awesome things they did in the Halo series to date. I loved seeing how the whole government system worked in High Charity. I loved watching the schism from within and seeing it all go to fucking hell. We got taken from orbit, to Earth, to another Halo, to a gas mining platform in the upper atmosphere of a gas giant, to High Charity. That game was a masterpiece in my eyes. It's definitely the Halo game I've played through the most.
Yeah how can you have "no interest in the story"? It expanded the Halo universe very well. And I must say, Halo 2 is by far the most cinematic game I've ever played. And again, "muddy" graphics? Have you tried adjusting your TV? Halo 2 was insanely detailed for its time. You are making complaints that have 0 parity with the realities.
It's just my opinion. I guess my friend had a shitty TV, then. The story I just didn't care for, the Arbiter missions weren't that fun. For me, the series goes Halo CE > ODST > 3 > 2 > Wars
Halo 2 would have been my favourite if MP didn't have bloody SMG starts, Bungie even admitted it was a mistake in the news box on the last day of original Xbox Live.

We need a point of sympathy here.
Halo 2 would have been my favourite if MP didn't have bloody SMG starts, Bungie even admitted it was a mistake in the news box on the last day of original Xbox Live.
How so? I never had a chance to really experience H2's multiplayer. But I do know the first three levels like the back of my hand....
Otherwise, from my perspective you're saying "I don't like good things!", or worse "Your taste is shit it's not good fuck you and your shit." The whole flood research station level felt rather unnecessary, since it didn't really have any major impact in the story. It was just there. The MC storyline was supposed to be about defending Earth, but after two missions you're on another Halo, fighting flood (which weren't that fun to fight till Halo 3) and boring brutes. At the end it started to pick up, but then due to the short development time Bungie had to cut the final mission and end the game there, in a sudden cliffhanger, just as it got interesting. Left a bad taste for me since I didn't have a multiplayer I could go play afterwards. Halo CE felt more shiny and, I don't know, defined? I can't really explain it.
Unusable weapons? Well uh, that has nothing to do with this. You can't use the Combine sniper in half life 2 either.
Yes but that appeared like twice in the entire game and the crossbow did the same thing. However there were tons of fuel rod guns and energy swords in the Halo campaign. Also it annoyed me that you couldnt drive wraiths. Also on a quick note where the fuck is everyone getting call of duty from? Is it the sprint? Because call of duty didnt invent sprinting. Or is the the classes? despite call of duty doesnt have classes just a system of allowing you to have 5 of your favorite loadouts instead of having to change them. I just dont understand where people are getting the idea that this game has copied call of duty [editline]02:10PM[/editline] Ok new campaign trailer just came out now I cant find my jaw.

I think the gas mine mission served to show examples of heresy within the covenant and to explain the start of the Arbiter's doubt. Playing as an elite was pretty much the same since you were fighting covenant. 2. The flood were never fun to fight. EVER. Good thing they're gone in Reach, same with the drones.
The flood is like a massive zombie horde. Only this time around, they actually pose a threat to you on their own. And every combat form is apparently a ninja in disguise.
Oh shit it's you Mombasa didn't expect to see you here. Flood was fun to fight in Halo 3 since double plasma rifles and melee cut them to pieces. They weren't very interesting before. Especially with rocket launchers.
The campaign looks amazing on an epic scale. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=klw_OLUrxgA
Yeah the trailer was cool enough, I look forward to that scene with the warthogs, I hope it's playable.

As well as to introduce you to the energy sword and the character of the arbiter. That's quite purposeful. The short time spent on Earth was a bit disappointing I'll give you, but the interesting things that happened on Delta Halo more than made up for it IMHO. I seem to be a minority on this, but I always liked fighting the Flood, it's exhausting, tiresome, hard, frustrating and more, especially when they have rocket launchers and tanks. I hate it, I hate it I hate it I hate it. I'd like to slap whoever thought tanks + flood was a good idea. And I love it. I love hating it. It tells a story about just how powerful the flood is, it tells a story about just how much Master Chief has to go through. The tiresomeness has a purpose. And it's just really cool to suddenly realize all your bots are gone, replaced by flood. :D And with the brutes, as well as the flood for that matter, it not only supports the story based idea of a brute as a super strong vicious beast, it also shakes up the combat considerably from the standard elites and grunts, which while fun can only last as a primary enemy for so long without getting trite. I was appalled to learn that the brutes had been changed into basically elite reskins in Halo 3. I thought they were so cool to fight with their deadly melee, huge guns and strength enough to pull of plasma nades and throw em back at you. Having one go berserk was really cool imho. I always liked the ending really, it's an amazingly exciting place to end. The real dissapointment was Halo 3's beginning tbh. They should have picked up exactly where we left off, instead all the tension completely evaporated. [editline]04:32PM[/editline] Not liking playing as elites is just weak, especially considering they play pretty much exactly the same.
Not liking playing as elites is just weak, especially considering they play pretty much exactly the same.
OH NO A PURPLE HUD WHAT SHALL I EVER DO THE GAME IS RUINED /sarcasm
Yeah the trailer was cool enough, I look forward to that scene with the warthogs, I hope it's playable.
No doubt therell be a cliche part where the gunner dies and Kat tells you to take his place.
I'm getting Halo 2. I need it to complete my collection.
I want to drive, or be in the passenger seat with a splaser / Rocket launcher. Unless it was a gauss 'hog.
I want to drive, or be in the passenger seat with a splaser / Rocket launcher. Unless it was a gauss 'hog.
I was hoping I'd get lucky and that weapon would be removed... :frown: Also, damn right I'm here, a minimally polluted Halo thread on Facepunch? Fuck Yeah
Wait the Spalser or the gauss hog? Because if you mean the gauss I think ill need to have a word with you.......
We'd better have fucking splasers in Reach. If we don't, I'll be pissed.
