It is my understanding that Bungie control the assets but Microsoft own the franchise.
So Bungie can do what they want with their assets but it can't be in a Halo title unless it's distributed by Microsoft.
We'll need some sauce on that situation.
Lies. ODST's campaign was one of the best in the series. It definately beat Halo 3's. Not in level quality, but in story quality.
So securing some retarded squid thing is better than saving the galaxy?
I'll try find something on it but I'm certain that's what happened.
Microsoft used to own Bungie remember? Then they became independant and made Halo 3 (still using MS as a distributor however) and now Microsoft (and the 343 game studio whatever) own 'Halo' but Bungie have creative (and otherwise all) control over the content within Halo.
So using Master Chief in another series is plausible, but it wouldn't be called Halo and all events in Halo would only be referenced to past tense, I doubt it would become fodder for a story plot.

You know you love him.
Also, one of my favorite things about ODST's campaign was the music. It was best on the Rookie's night time stages, right after finishing one of the other squad members' missions.
Running through the wet, war torn city to the tune of rain was so amazing.
Halo 3 ended on a cliffhanger too.
Um, what cliffhanger? A cliffhanger is when a particular storyline ends without the plot being resolved, usually ending at a climax in the story.
At the end of Halo 3 the covenant is broken, the Ark destroyed, the flood wiped out. Cortana and Chief say so themselves.
At best you could say that for Chief, the ending is unresolved because he's floating toward some unknown planet. But thousands of stories end that way and it doesn't mean that there will be a sequel.

Engineers is the worst game
The ODST campaign was awesome. I actually kind of liked playing as the Rookie at night, it made me feel like I was in the game. The music couldn't have been better.

I always killed the Engineer with the hammer. :v:

And the backtracing begins.

Engineers were cut from the first Halo, However they were made canon in one of the halo novels, ODST is the first canon game entrance.

Engineers were a Covy unit in Halo Wars, they floated around and fixed things.
Halo Wars can go suck a dick.

I completely agree with you.
side note: Halo 4 is already being made.
I hope they bring back the Security Helmet from Halo 3. That was on the best helmet in my opinion.

That's what engineers have always done in the halo lore though...
I really hope the campaign finishes with an amazing bang. It should top all other Halo endings!
That shouldn't be too hard.

The security helmet is back, you are very late

Right. MC will/might be back, but that still doesn't make Halo 3 a cliffhanger, that's all.
Halo Wars can go suck a dick.

This is also what Bungie has been saying since Halo 2 or some shit, I am reluctant to believe them.

I have a little theory as to what's going to happen with the games.
If this is the 'last Halo game' and Bungie have a contract with Activision to develop a new series then..
Microsoft certainly won't sell over the Halo franchise to Activision so that Bungie can keep making it.. so I think then perhaps Reach WILL be the last Halo title and Bungie create a new franchise that follows what happens to Chief after he entered the portal.. and possibly write him into a Marathon re-make or something similar.
It's a pretty weak theory but remember a few folk at Bungie have now confirmed that Master Chiefs story is not over and it would be an asshole move to not finish it off and based on the fact that Microsoft would never sell the Halo title to another distributor, then the continuation of Master Chiefs plot can't be in a Halo title.. then maybe whatever Bungie make with Activision will use Master Chief.
[editline]02:53AM[/editline]
Essentially it would be a spin-off but developed into it's own full standalone franchise.
[editline]02:55AM[/editline]
Or they're not making another game with MC because they're making a damn movie called 'Halo' that follows the events post-Halo 3
I.. What? Microsoft needs Halo to keep selling Xboxes, it's their strongest exclusive franchise. Reach won't be the last Halo. It will simply be the last Halo made by Bungie. At least for a long time.
Also, while the rest of the game may have been of... varying quality, topping Halo 3's ending would be pretty damn hard IMHO. And despite the hate I actually thought 2's ending was pretty damn epic too.
"I think we're just getting started" was a better ending line than "sir, finishing this fight" or "wake me when you need me".
"I think we're just getting started" was a better ending line than "sir, finishing this fight" or "wake me when you need me".
Because the latter two were kind of... finalising all that was happening. The first one gave you a sense of more to come. Tickled your curiosity as to what might come next.
The last two were like, "right, we're wrapping this all up, now. It's coming to an end. You know the Chief probably won't get woken up 'cos this is the end of the Halo story arc".
If the Halo Legends episode ORIGINS is canon or not(I assume it is), then Chief and Cortana were drifting to a Forerunner Home world(or THE forerunner home world). Maybe he will don the Forerunner Armor that was locked up there, and have a real final battle against the Flood(only logical enemy choice, really). That means the fuckin' biggest battle fans have wanted since Halo 2 but never got(as in a showdown against the Gravemind).

I think they are all canon, except the one about spartan 1337[ Odd one out].

God it was a cliffhanger if I've ever seen one.. the difference being.. do they decide to leave it as a cliffhanger or do they resolve it?
n.
1. A melodramatic serial in which each episode ends in suspense.
2. A suspenseful situation occurring at the end of a chapter, scene, or episode.
3. A contest so closely matched that the outcome is uncertain until the end.
Sounds like the Halo 3 ending to me. A cliffhanger is what leaves you 'wanting more' or to see what happened after the curtains closed. What you should be saying is they're leaving it at a cliffhanger, not that it isn't a cliffhanger.
And yeah, Microsoft do need Halo on top of the fact that Frank O'Conner said they would be assholes to leave the MC story and considering he's ex-Bungie and now runs 343 Industries at Microsoft, I'd say it's pretty certain they'll resolve or continue the events succeeding Halo 3.
ODST body found.

May not be 100% like ODST body but all the bodys are based on attachments rather than a whole new body.
Now you guys are making me pumped for a Halo 4.
