Just beat Halo 1 again, fantastic game. Shame Halo 2 Vista doesn't work on Windows 7 due to some more recent updates without editing some system files.
I wish I was joking.
Hmm, works for me.

Ignore my task bar, I'm using Aero and running Halo 2 at the same time.
Yeah, it's a problem that according to Microsoft, is impossible to reproduce. It's just some computers give a failed initialization warning and some don't.
oh my god forge world is awesome
i remember playing demolition derby in blood gulch on halo 1.
FUCK YOU BUNGIE! :argh:

Fucking auto aim.
Fucking auto aim.
And the floor collapsing underneath you. And tiles landing on you. And Sentinels shooting you. And carrier flood. And Bungie robbing you while you're in the cutscene. And lack of checkpoints. I could go on.

Everyone got pissed at me when I died.
I'm tempted to retry the fix for Halo2PC, it requires you to stop the CRYPTSVC process and restart it in the command prompt after you rename the Catroot folder in System32. It worked, but afterward my computer wouldn't boot on restart. It works, for whatever reason, but I dare not try it again.
Alright, iirc there should be an active camo powerup to the right after you exit the tunnel, around a pile of bodies. I'm not really sure though since it's been a long time since I played Halo 1.
What does an active camo look like?
Ahahah it worked, but I'm not taking any chances, I'm setting this bitch back to normal after I beat it.
What does an active camo look like?
It's a small blue orb inside a see-through pyramid.
Looks like this.

I'm way more excited for this game than I should be.
And I fucking love it
It was an impressive game for it's time, just like Halo: CE. Compared to other game graphics that were released then, it was pretty advanced. It was also an unbelievably rushed game that Bungie had a lot of ideas for which were eventually used for Halo 3.
Again, advanced =/= better. That game was released the same year as Half Life 2, Knights of the Old Republic II, and Metroid 2. IIRC, all of those games looked better in many respects than Halo 2.
Too bad it was rushed, it could've used the extra tweaking.

Holy hell this level is long. Now I need to take out a bunch of covenant, at least two banshees and at least one wraith. Any tips?
Well looks like someone got the game early, somebody over on the GameTrailers forums put up some screenshots over in this thread. It's the 4th post in the thread, there aren't really spoilerish especially since they were taken on a cellphone but still.

I refuse to see any game media other than official trailers. I can't stomach any spoilers, which at this point is pretty much anything from the game. Did the same thing for Mass Effect 2 and it paid off big time.
That level was really long. Now I get to go through the swamp and find "the only enemy the Covenant fears" according to some dude on IGN. It's the Flood, isn't it?
Pretty much.
What do you mean, 'pretty much'?
That's one of the reason I love Halo, marathon length levels. :3
I needed the help of an IGN walkthrough to get past it.

I never heard about Halo, and kept almost entirely dark save a few tidbits about the other games, and I intend not to expect a thing.
It's so much more enjoyable when you have no preconceptions.
Not about to fix what ain't broke.

Shucks, even if you're stuck it's more rewarding to try and think a little creatively about it, even if it means pacing back and forth aimlessly for a while. Halo isn't "that" hard though, it has a pretty good difficulty curve and not a lot of confusing levels. I'm surprised you'd get stuck.

Good luck Fistpuncher.
Library is hard, but not impossible.
I must admit, I almost came out of that shit with claustrophobia. :S
Halo? On Normal? Shit, it is not that hard. Fuck, I remember back in the days there weren't no internet, no tutorials, no nothing. I had to play Super Mario Bros 1 and figure that shit out myself (hidden power ups, warp zones, etc.)! You kids have it too easy these days.
I digress, though. While Halo has a lot of run and gun moments, there are moments where you want to take it slow. Of course, if you are taking it slow and are getting the shit kicked out of you, run and gun, or fuck it, just run.
I loved Halo for how dynamic it was. I remember getting caught in a few difficult spots, but I'd just try new things every time. Get pinned down by covenant? Sprint for banshee. Get killed sprinting toward banshee? Canvass with nades, then sprint.
Oh god, Two Betrayals in Halo 1, took one of my favorite stages and made it unnecessarily harder. The Maw was easier. The part at the end when you're running for the Banshee and are under fire from two Wraiths is going to haunt me.

You forget that I suck at video games. Just ask the guys I got Annual with.
