Shepard was only used to make sure that the events of Half-Life 2 could be set in stone, after he did his part, Gman tought that Adrian is useless and he knows too much, so right now he is detained until he won't be sent back again in case of emergency. Oh yea, and Opposing Force IS CANON, the only part which isn't confirmed to be canon is Race X.

What croguy said. Valve said that they wanted to visit, maybe bring back Adrian at some point or another, meaning Opposing Force may've happened, but Race X hasn't been said or confirmed or anything. It would be pretty easy to say they either all died off or just didn't try another invasion on Earth after getting their asses handed to them by Adrian, though.

I don't see why every body is dismissing Adrian's vest as making it easy for him. Gordon's HEV suite covers his entire body, Adrian's only covers his chest.

I just don't think that he's superior to Gordon.[/QUOTE] He has proved to be superior to Gordon by dealing tougher and more varied enemies, but Gordon did more important things during and after the Black Mesa incident. As I said before, Adrian was the failsafe system in Gman's plans, if anything wouldn't go the way it should, Adrian would be forced to go in there one way or another and make sure it turns out the way Gman wants to. He is less significant than Gordon because Gordon is currently far more sucessfull in completing his objectives and making sure everything turns out good than he was back in Black Mesa.
