Graphics look really cool, but what are those guys in suits?
Either some sort of alien shapeshifters (notice the long limbs and weird posture and weapons) or, some artist had fun making alien placeholders.
My money on the second one.
Slenderman, only possible explanation.
I think i might end up picking this up.
But first, of course. Pick up the Original and get trashed by it. Think i might buy the original pack by the end of this week.
I hope that isn't an enemy's healthbar.
i think xenonauts has a better graphical style, be interesting to see which is the better game, just from what has been shown so far i have more hope for xenonauts they kept a similar style for base view and ground combat
came across this in this thread

lol i don't know
how do you unjam a weapon in in ja2 1.13?
I've got my digital copy. But I don't think there's any way to directly copy and quote the text.
There's apparently a 'Heavy Armed Mobile Cover Platform that serves as a powerful rock on which to anchor any tactical advantage' and you can directly customize the heavy troops armor and weapons individually.

Though they mention there's some story based missions that are not randomly generated and involve in-game cinematics of some kind
What I've read is
•randomly generated missions, terrain. Developer says you'll never play the exact same mission twice outside of a few story missions which feature in-game cinematics
•fog of war is confirmed. area starts off with darkness everywhere, and the average soldier can't see shit
•enemy spawns are randomized
•mobile platform called SHIV; customizable for new chasis
•Sectoids and Mutons confirmed
•The base's screenshot is accurate. It is now a side shot instead of top down. You can also upgrade your base, like the satellite, with alien technology
•There was an example in one scenario where Japan had the laser rifle already developed before the invasion because they felt threatened, so that seems random.
•You have 16 countries in the funding council you need to keep happy. Some provide more money, but others, like Africa, provide more raw resources
•The sniper units have a grappling hook ability to get on top of buildings
•Gunners have a suppressing fire
•you can equip your xcom guys with all kinds of different guns. customization looks like a big deal
•Apparently there's some sort of cinematic view when your guys get killed. They didn't cite VATS or anything, so I doubt it's too in depth
•Unexperienced agents can panic, freak out, etc if something bad happens
•Firaxis designer states that the PC version will have an enhanced interface. He cites Dragon Age: Origins on PC and console as a big inspiration
This is like the first half of the article
•Destructible environments
•In the scenario they showed, one member died. Because of this the other squadmates didn't get an experience bonus
•Without the bonus, the sniper leveled up still. He was able to choose from two abilities. Either Squad Sight(which means he can shoot anything a squadmate can see) and Snap Shot(which lets him shoot after moving. Something snipers aren't normally allowed to do)
•You can't recruit specific classes. You can only recruit rookies and then level them up to become specific classes
•The guys in suits in the screenshots are 'Thin Man' aliens. They're able to leap long distances
•Challenge is stressed a lot
•same quick save/load system though they are considering an iron man type mode where you can't load previous saves
•Firaxis states that they're not rebooting it, they're re imagining it. Using the same core gameplay with modern technology, weapons, audiovisuals, etc.

Some more details from the 2K Forums - this was in the same post as that thing about ammo being abstracted, but for some reason these bits were left out... sorry if some of these are repeats.
The reason for the switch from TUs to move-and-action is that they don't want people pissing around counting out their individual TUs. Take this as you will.
They want to make the game fairer. The examples cited are that panicking squaddies won't wipe your entire squad out, and you won't get a Blaster Bomb in the mush on the first turn of the battle while you're still in your ship.
You can research vehicles to take the place of a squaddie. They don't gain XP and are gone for good when destroyed, but they provide a hefty amount of firepower. The example given is a mobile heavy weapons platform which makes for a good overwatcher for your advance.
Cyberdiscs and psionics are mentioned.
Aliens have their own special perk-like abilities as well.
Overwatch/reaction shots are in.
Sniper Rifles do a ton of damage, but take a full turn to shoot.
Some more info about X-Com reboot.
C'mon people, it's like I'm the only X-Com fan here.
If X-com would work on Windows 7 64-bit, I'd buy it.

Classes sound like fun to me.
some of that sounds stupid any unit with remaining TU's should be able to make a reaction shot, and it shouldnt require a extra ability to fire on an enemy a unit cant see directly

Damnit way late on that one. Sorry.
Classes? No time units? I am not looking forward to this.
It sounds okay, but dumbed down to shit.
It kind of takes away the flexibilty of soldiers, I actually liked that troopers played an alround role during fights. An agent had a lot of different abilities, even if your soldier was better with certain other weapons and devices, nevertheless you could use other stuff with that soldiers.
Also using all kinds of devices and throwing grenades to other soldiers and then throwing it to another one was awesome to. I do not like the categorization of soldiers, makes some sense.
Excluding Time Units is bad, watch this video for further information. He explains some stuff and such.

it does, it runs on dos.
Oh shit there was another page, nevermind.

This guy is pretty good and knows how to make good videos, he fights against SOPA and makes great reviews. He is also great to promote games. Which are justified and fair. I bet you haven't even watch the whole video.
UFO: Aftermath just became insanely hard, I encountered a new alien which wiped out my whole squad with two weird cloud/swarms of something.

After a kind of disappointing few bits of information, that actually raises my hopes a little
Still not sure about getting rid of TUs though. :l
Honestly, the news that the new X-Com has not randomly generated maps is really disappointing. I hoped that they kept that formula. Replayability is the key in the series and which makes the game even awesome to this day.
Besides I got back into Apocalypse, I wish I could see how the game would look when it would have been fully developed and finished. With all the political features and more in-depth factions.

I don't know where you get your news but procedurally generated maps are one of the first things they announced.
They even said that you can have 2 playthroughs without ever seeing two of the same maps.
Also, there's a dedicated XCOM thread here:
http://facepunch.com/threads/1154934
There has been a thread in the news section that announced that the maps are not really fully randomly generated but they only change the spawn locations of enemies and your starting location. Although I do not have a link right now.

No, they use tilesets, like a gas station and roads, but those change about.

Which has always been the case IIRC
Which game do I play first?
All of them.
Which game do I play first?
Try X-Com UFO Defense, from that point on you will be able to play Terror from the Deep, which is insanly more hard.
Apocalpyse is really different though, but awesome nontheless.
Only Xcom is UFO defense.
Rest are meh.
I beg to differ, TFTD is great. Setting is far more creepier and menacing. Also Apocalypse features cool weapons and aliens.
