While GlaDOS is cool she's nothing really compared to SHODAN.
The prologue of ME3 will start off, with Cerberus boarding Normandy 2, and trying to take it over, thus, after that's done, IM will get pissed, and gets sucked into joining the Reapers or something. When that's done, you get mission to recruit a new squad, but in with the old of course, by going too different star systems. And trying to take back earth. I reckon, maybe, the main mission is a lot of shorter, but due to going to earth, i think it's bigger, as your going to have to free the shit out of all the cities, before attacking the main Collectors assumes control of everything.
My two cents.

Unless I missed something you fight on other home planets too, so the game would be longer than earth.

ok i'll throw my two cents in
you start ME3 coming back though the omega 4 relay to a fleet of alliance warships ready to destroy the already broken Normandy unless you back down and hand yourself into the alliance to awnser for your actions in arrival, when a huge fleet of batarian ships start unleashing hell all around you because of what you did, you, and every other human have become galatic enemys in the crossfire you seek shelter on omega (the training mission begins here.)
kinda hope thats how it might start, but really, all those addons and DLC take place after the base detruction dont they?
Everyone seems to have forgotten that the game begins on Earth at the trial and the prologue is you escaping the Reaper Invasion of Earth.
