Somewhat relieved actually that it's being delayed. I realise it's been in development since before ME2 was released but even then it doesn't seem like enough time would have gone into it for a release this year. ME3 needs to be to big, bold and polished if it's going to be better than it's predecessors, and if Bioware falters even a little bit then the series' reputation is going to be tarnished big time styley.
Last night I was having a good ol' think while in the shower. Was trying to figure out why the Reapers... well... reap. I know we've all considered a lot of reasons, but then, I think a new one hit me:
A few of us considered the idea that maybe Reapers destroy all advanced life forms because mass effect technology damages stars/space itself. But then I got thinking... maybe the Reapers are INTENTIONALLY damaging stars, causing them to age prematurely, then letting them go supernova so that they can return to the galaxy and harvest an entire solar system's worth of element zero (as element zero is formed when matter is exposed to a star going supernova).
After all, any intelligent, space faring species in the ME universe that lives long enough is gonna find that element zero supplies begin to dwindle, and it's not something that under any normal circumstances you can artificially produce. Maybe the Reapers got to this point in the past and went, "fuck it, let's make more element zero!" and forced a star to prematurely age. Then they left and hibernated again until slowly their element zero supplies dwindled (a solar system's worth of element zero is a LOT, but it's not infinite, and given how large the Reapers are, and how numerous they are, I can easily see them burning through all of it in 50000-100000 years or so).
Of course some may argue what's the point in hibernating for 50000 years only to be awake for a few hundred years (during their reaping), but... that's what life does. Lots of animals hibernate for exorbitant periods of time, then only wake to collect food, mate, and return to hibernation. Life would rather exist and yet only spend 1/1000 of its time awake than perish completely.
The only part that wouldn't make sense to me is: why bother extinguish all life in the galaxy each time you perform this process. Perhaps because a star going supernova would probably be relatively obvious and would draw the attention of anyone on its side of the galaxy, and the Reapers obviously wouldn't want their precious bounty to be stolen.
Just an idea that I was considering.
the shower really is an amazing place to think, innit?
I'm completely serious.
Very interesting point you had there sltunge, and yes, I agree that the shower is an amazing place to think lexus04

I often think of my future and great philosopical questions :v:
Never been happier about a delay 18 months really didn't seem like enough to make this the masterpiece it needs to be especially after how Dragon Age 2 turned out after a similar development time

ME3 has a much longer Dev time the DA2 so that should not be a problem

If they didn't, there would be casualties in the way, as with the inherent nature of collapsing stars. Because the Reapers are the source of this, I've no doubt the civilizations of the galaxy would, inevitably, organize some form of resistance to the Reapers. Given some time, they could build a sizable army to defend the galaxy, and gods help the Reapers should they organize(references!). To that end, the Reapers are forced to do cullings in the form of extinction events as a way of population control. It would take too much to wipe out all life in existence, but not much at all to at least bounce it back to a prehistoric level.
Duke Nuke'em also. If only to see the reviews and how it turned out
If it turns out that this game is not the greatest endeavor in the history of mankind and cure for at least 3 types of cancer, It's going to get it's balls sawed off

You'd need a cutting torch because it's got balls of steel.
So, they've delayed ME3 so it can live up to expectations.
They want it to be the best in the series.
Better than ME1.
This is very exciting news.
I was on the Hard Light page on TV Tropes and came across this:

It goes without saying I immediately thought of the keyboards in Mass Effect.

Fuck.
Bioware isn't doing this, EA is...EA has always known how to ruin a profitable franchise with style...pretty soon there'll be a new Mass Effect every year, with map packs in between.
probably overreacting but

And none of you believed me when I was saying Bioware / ME was going downhill
Repent! For the end is near!

That's activision's thing, but EA still ruins plenty of stuff in other ways
Making it simpler than compared to ME2.
