I hope we see hundreds of Legion's Geth dance the robot simultaneously at the end of ME3, with Legion sining an opera. That would rule so hard
Mass Effect 2 exhibit scheduled in the Smithsonian. [editline]7th May 2011[/editline]
All you care about means nothing, the game is not developed just for you, so drop it! An rpg is not just "play a role" crap, you play the role of characters in many games not even considered rpgs but pure shooters, your point is invalid too. If someone likes stat based equipment that makes them mindless? damn this community is just full of retards really.. yeah.
Yes, he said it. Do I need to mention that he has a "ME1 is better" signature. I also love how RPG stats dictating your shooter elements is not dumbing down, but the opposite is. In a hybrid.
if it had the word "calibrations" somewhere i would buy.
It has the word on the back. Instabuy for me. Also gotta play MEC  [editline]7th May 2011[/editline]
I hope we see hundreds of Legion's Geth dance the robot simultaneously at the end of ME3, with Legion sining an opera. Thinking about getting either the Renegade shirt or the Disingenuous Assertions one. Neither have an obvious connection and the Renegade one look damn nice.

Whoever said Grunt was shit on Insanity never took him on the Derelict Reaper with fully upgraded Fortification. He charged into at least 6 fully armoured husks and only went down when a Scion started blasting him. Then when I had the Scion on half health, I revived him and he started charging the Scion and shooting it point blank with his Claymore, glowing the entire time. Never been prouder.

Playing ME Cronicles, punched a tourist in the face, laughed, then felt bad. Unfortunately since the game has no diagonal walking animations it's a shit game. :v:

Been playing MEC for a little while now and i have to say it's a nice job you have done. I like the little details such as Avina having the same lines as in the normal game. Also i found a small furry kitten in something that looked like a bathroom. Not sure what was going on there
A few questions on part of somebody who's interested in Mass effect: Never played a Mass Effect game. A friend brought over Mass Effect 2 once, but I only played the beginning thing. I wasn't very impressed with the gameplay (though the graphics blew my face off). I'm assuming the very beginning was sort of one of those linear "tutorial missions," and probably doesn't represent the rest of the game very well. Seeing as both the games are priced very very well on steam, Im thinking about buying both of them. Im used to playing TES and Fallout games (all of them) so thats really my imrpession of how and rpg ussually is, what are the chances I would not like Mass Effect? It gets very good reviews, but it's hard to take IGN's word without a pinch of salt. Also, I realize the game is primarily linear, but there is some sort of exploration mechanic, right? It's not completely Point A to Point B in terms of the game's start to finish? How many planets can you go to? Also, How is the performance on the PC? Poorly optimized or just sort of "normal?" Probably not the best place to ask for a truly balanced opinion, but I guess you guys could fill me in on the pros of the series :v:
Would you guys mind posting MEC comments in this thread? It's short lived, even for FP standards. http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1086149-Mass-Effect-Chronicles
ME1 and 2 are RPG/shooter hybrids, though they are nothing like Fallout or TES.
I'd assume they are not, but there is some sort of sense of galaxy exploration, isn't there? I couldn't care less if the game is linear, as long as I don't have to play through the entire game on one A-B track, I want to be able to sidetrack and explore a bit. What is there in regards to planetary exploration?
Mass Effect (the first one) is the more RPG-style game of the two, so you should definitely start with that. Once you're hooked to the universe (which you will be), move onto the second game. While it lacks (a lot?) in RPG elements, it makes up for it just by being Mass Effect. Plus, a lot of other things have been improved in the second game.

The rest of the planets tend to have a random event, popping up in text, like discovering an ancient salarian shuttle etc. In ME2, you point the direction in which your ship flies, and you can mine all of the planets. There is also the Hammerhead, a free DLC, that is used for planetary exploration. Here you go, there is even a song about mining: :v:

The overall format is a little like Fallout, in that you can explore and do sidequests instead of advancing the plot at pretty much any time, but open-world exploration is limited in ME1 and nonexistant in ME2. Major plot missions can be done in any order (within reason, of course), so you're not on rails for most of the game. Gameplay (imo) isn't Mass Effect's strongest point. ME1's gameplay feels a little dated and clumsy at times, although 2's is a step in the right direction. The main draw of the series is its story, and Bioware have done a huge amount of work to make the world believable and consistent. The series is designed as a trilogy, and is best played from start to finish in order - your plot choices (ie. Kill Character A or not? Choose option B or C in a difficult situation?) carry over between games, and will reportedly be very meaningful come ME3. TLDR: Story driven, reasonably non-linear, overall competent games. Worth a shot if you like sci-fi rpgs in general. My 2 credits. :)
That's actually pretty cool, thats the sort of thing I was hoping for. Ironically I think Mass Effect would be more like Fallout 1 & 2 than Fallout 3 is in a lot of sense. Maybe not in the RPG aspects, but in the same way the game world is handled and explored. Fallout 1 south California Fallout 2 north California Mass Effect galaxy map Like little "pockets" for exploration. At any rate thats mainly the thing I am interested in, my fear about Mass Effect was that it was just a generally linear experience like Half Life or something. I thoroughly enjoyed the way Fallout 1 & 2 handled exploration, ME seems to have that same sort of idea.

And from the looks of it, some specific choices in both games may alter your ending in ME3.
Phaedon, I have to hand it to you, I really like playing MEC.
