Perhaps the Reapers are invading Africa because it's empty.
I mean, you don't necessarily hit the most populated area of a place first when you're invading. Instead, you hit a less populated area that is easily wiped out so you can set up a base of operations. The Reapers are smart, they might be powerful but they aren't careless. Even if they have the technology to completely wipe out everyone without breaking a sweat, they probably go about things in a very tactical way, not even willing to risk casualties (considering how difficult it is to make another Reaper).

In an invasion, you want the locals to be totally blindsided and in disarray. You don't do that be landing in a 3rd world shithole. You do that by obliterating the densest population centers and places of command and control.

Yes, but because a portal to The Ark, a central location in the Halo universe was buried near Voi, Kenya. So the Covenant landed in New Mombasa to eradicate the nearest source of human resistance.
Ok I'm really pissed off right now. Finally got to the Collector Station on ME2 and everyones voices got glitched. The speech sounds are very low and sound like and echo ( as if they were talking behind you) Already tried restarting my pc but to no avail. I would love to beat it tonight, any help?
However, one can't avoid the symbolism in the eradication of Africa. It's where humanity was created; millions of years ago, our genetic ancestors crawled out of the canyon and spread out. 200,000 years ago, they spread like wild fire from that one focal point only a few kilometers wide. In universe, an attack on Africa may purely be coincidental; the Reapers may simply be haphazardly destroying human population centers. But from a fictional/literary standpoint, it shows something that goes beyond that small level of coincidence.
The Reapers are destroying us. Not just hunting us down and killing us, not going to war with us, they're exterminating us. And they're starting from where we were born. The point of genesis is becoming glass. They're not merely killing what they can and leaving us in ruins, they're going to come to our home, kill everyone there and destroy everything in sight and then they're going to destroy our colonies. And then Palaven, and Thessia, and Sur'kesh. And then the Elcor homeworld, the Volus homeworld, and every planet in between until every sentient being in the galaxy is dead or dying. And they're going to commit this hideous act of genocide on the ground from whence we came. By the time they're done, everything will either be dead or so indoctrinated that they may as well be. Within a few days, they'll be dead too. From the point of creation is the climax of entropy.

Some people question whether ME3 will be very good after DA2 being a disappointment to many, but DA2 team is not the same as ME3's team, so I am not worried. Also, Mass Effect has Casey Hudson as the director. He directed the following:

Another thing, some people are saying ME3 isn't taking 2 years (year-wise, they may not have taken that much time depending on their release date within the year), but it will be close to it. All of those great games were released ~ 2 years apart, and ME3's engine is already setup as shown on the PS3. And, it was being worked on before ME2 was even released.
Maybe it's the perspective or something, but on the Gameinformer cover there's a huge indent in Africa right where Nigeria should be. Right underneath the Gameinformer website address.
