Kidding aside, this still doesn't answer why the Reapers want to make more civilizations 'immortal'.
Because they're such nice fellas
Original programming ?
Maybe they collect civilizations like...
Collectors

You...you're not alive, not really. You're just a machine, and machines can be broken.
The only question that remains is whether Devodiere is a Reaper or if he has been indoctrinated by one.
If he's been indoctrinated, we have a bigger problem.
It means there's a Reaper nearby. Or an artifact. I suggest we split up into several three man/woman/androgynous blue people teams and locate it.
Is there any way to get 300 ms points, I have 260 and I need 560 for Arrival.

It's planned i think. You have to suck it up and buy 800. Not that they are that expensive when buying them online but Microsoft you sly motherfuckers

I'll take Sweden and one 5'th of the north pole
reapers want shepard alive because they want to understand why everyone is willing to follow him, why he is a bloody icon for the humanity, why him alone can bring 'em down.
they want him alive to research on his "indoctrination" talent (aka. recruiting peoples and fixing everyone's problem)

Very good, I'll take New York and the Eastern Seaboard of the US. Alright boys, let's go find a Reaper.
Albeit we'll need a whiny biotic, a god loving xenophobe, a dinosaur person and an androgynous school girl to get this done, we can do it.
Oh yeah, and a space Muslim.
Are there an texture packs for ME1 or ME2?

Read that in Miranda's Voice

I shall travel from the cold and hostile terrains of trerikaröset to the equally hostile territories of Malmö to find them then

One down. Anyone for Xenophobe or Schoolgirl
If you look closely all of the Reapers do look slightly different. For example, Soveriegn and Harbinger do have noticeable differences. In fact, after looking at the Reaper picture at the end of Mass Effect 2 again, they all look different. It is likely that each Reaper bears traits of the species it is designed from. The size of the Reaper probably depends on the species' population size; the larger the species' population, the larger the Reaper. If not, the alleged 'smaller Reapers' that people are complaining about are either misidentified as being smaller, or they are some sort of seeker Reapers or something. The Reaper's motives are unclear, though, as to truly why they would do this to all life systematically. Sovereign sounded like the Reapers were there to obliterate mankind through some supposed arrogance and self-proclaimed godhood. Harbinger seems to want to collect species- which would coincide with the idea of those Seeker Reapers. Smaller Reapers scour the planets collecting the organics for later assimilation. Now before you go "That's what the Collectors were for, they wouldn't need Seeker Reapers." Which is true to an extent. The Collectors were made to secretly exist for the Reapers. They were to appear as an organic species collecting and experimenting on organic species (Maybe for Reaper candidates, maybe for something else) in while trading their tech (which would further put species on the Reaper's pre-deesign path of prowess). In secret they would design a brand new Reaper that is aware of all the currently existing species' flaws and attributes and whatnot.
If it is the same source, as it is supposed to be, are these supposed to return, but not necessarily be squaddies?
I don't really understand what exactly it is they are trying to say. They say they will return as NPCs, they've always been NPCs, but does that mean they will be squad members (Wrex and Legion, at least. I don't expect Anderson to be on the squad or on the ship)? They seem to dodge that question by suggesting that people think you will be able to play AS those characters... (and if people do think that... what the hell...?).
I'm betting Mordin will just appear on the ship but not in your squad. Which is understandable. If Wrex survived, I bet he'll play a prominent role leading the krogan and therefore not in your squad (or just a temporary squad member.
That's what I'm worried about, even Thresher Maws can drag a Reaper out of the sky into the ground. It just seems so disappointing that the Reapers, even in size, have been scaled down to meer enemies like Geth. I'm really not looking forward to ME3 anymore, as I honestly think it's going to be a massive rape of possibly one of the best enemies I've seen in a long time.
I doubt the Reaper is in the air as you make it sound. It most likely touchdown and was tearing shit up, then a presumably large Thresher Maw drags it under. Even then, it does not kill the Reaper. The last part makes it sound like you can see the Reaper shooting its way out of the ground. The Reapers will still be an extremely formidable foe. I doubt Shepard will be dropping them left and right throughout the game.
The human Reaper was a horrible idea imo (I mean on the writer's part).
I'm fine with them all looking the same. I mean it's not like humans look that different from each other.
The Human Reaper was in a very early stage of development, which means it still had a long ways to go before it even looked remotely like other Reapers. Even then, it is possible that the Human Reaper was going to be something unique granted that Humanity seems to be the only species to truly stand up agianst The Reapers. The Reapers are interested in the 'soul' of a species. As it is numerously pointed out, the 'soul' of humanity is the most unique of all species. Therefore, the Reapers most likely have an alternative fate for humanity; different from the Protheans fate or any other species' fate.
As for how exactly we'll be killing the Reapers... I cannot say for sure. It seems stupid and counter-productive to destroy our solar system to defeat the Reapers... that would be at the expense of all humans on Earth, too. I also doubt we'll be taking them down one by one. A super weapon, like that which scarred the surface of Klendagon and killed the Reaper making it derelict, is possible I'm not sure exactly where it would come from. I don't see how the Collector base would provide that. Maybe the Destiny Ascension could do some damage... but we're talking Reaper defeat, not damage. I will not jump to conclusions, though, thinking they will throw a deus ex machina. But it may turn out there will be a 'kill the queen/king, kill them all' through hive mind link, kind of thing.
The idea of a King Reaper sounds pretty cool, actually
I don't get why people say that only one Mass Effect 2 ending seems truly canon. Either ending gives equal oppurtunity for The Illusive Man to betray Shepard:
If you gave him the base then your usefulness to him and to the defeat of the Reapers is limited to none (or so he may believe). Shepard is the only other person aware of the Collector Base being in the hands of Cerberus, whom no doubt would use it to bring aliens to their knees. So, to ensure Shepard does not squeel to the Alliance and The Council everything he knows of Cerberus (presumably with the aid of Miranda's knowledge- depending on your actions), he must silence him.
If you did not give the base... then you've pissed him off and you're seen as a liability to him. This to me sounds like a weak reason though considering what is at stake and how Shepard is humanity's last hope. Even then, though, it IS a possibility.

I, owning an N7 hoody, volunteer for the role of the rugged paragon Alliance Marine.
All right then, We have

Do you think TIM's encounter with [sp]Reaper tech[/sp] during the First Contact War is what prodded him to form Cerberus? Maybe Cerberus is just a big attempt at [sp]finding a way to take out the Reapers.[/sp]
