Yours and sabrinas post on the last page.
Because if the Bar gets overrun, stalkers are in deep, deeeeeeeeeeeeeeep shit.
If the Warehouses are overrun, it's not that big of a deal since there wasn't a massive hub of guntrading, living quarters and lack of anomalies.
Except if the warehouses fell, even more mutants would pour to the Bar and it would be impossible to hold. And from there on it would be Garbage. And Garbage is the biggest hub area in the game.

But the Garbage itself doesn't have anything important except in game terms because you'll have to go through it if you want to access Agroprom, Dark Valley, Cordon etc. It's just radioactive heaps of trash you could bypass if the player wasn't restricted to take such linear paths.
The Bar is where the big trade happens.
e: Also it houses the Arena, which is a major part of the Zone's very own entertainment culture. The other parts being Inquisitor's Zoo (doesn't exist anymore) and the Bandit camp's "Shoot X number of birds"-challenge.
Garbage having anything doesn't matter, but a fact is that it's the major hub for "low-level" areas like Cordon, Garbage itself, Agroprom and Dark Valley.
Fair enough. And in Clear Sky it's role is even greater : The Bar doesn't exist, it houses a major faction with traders, bar and technician. It's strategic importance in the Faction Wars are very clear : If either Duty or Freedom want to attack each other's bases , they'll have to control the Garbage. And the bandits have their concentration camp in it in addition to the roadblocks so it's a major source of cash for them.

What outpost? What does that have to do with bloodsuckers?
I don't think freedom, while fending of the waves of mutants and monolith from the red forest really has the capacity, nor the time to go kill a few bloodsuckers. Might be why they sent Strelok to fix it.

Outpost towards the red forest.

They have infinite reinforcements, surely they can do it.
In situations like these I usually tend to interpret the situation how it would be IRL rather than ingame so that it would make more sense but in ShoC it makes my brain hurt because all the areas are so small and too much of the game world is flat out missing or the gameplay differs so much from the story...
Sometimes it's quite funny like how Vasiliev cannot find a way to Sakharov's bunker even though there is no way you couldn't see it no matter where you are at Yantar (yeah, in 1935 Yantar was a lot bigger but I didn't know that back in 2008).
Other times it's just pretty sad when in the early game where you hit the Duty checkpoint and it's attacked by boars and fleshes and the guys are all gloomy and talk about how the mutant attacks are getting more and more frequent. On the first time you're there you kind of believe them but after that you'll know that it was just a one time thing and nothing is ever going to get past that checkpoint. Ever.
e: Interestingly enough, sometimes Spetznaz operators can attack the Bar, even in Vanilla. However, you still can't shoot them without everybody shooting you as well. It's really rare and I kind of wonder how it can even happen because the Duty checkpoint at Garbage was completely intact.
I had mercs attack the bar. It made me mad when I wasn't allowed to fight back
If I install oblivion lost, is there a mod or tool that'll let me spawn somewhere at a certain point in the story or somethin?
Nope
I use freedomers as target practice.
That conversation about factions was an interesting read. :3:

But I can run DX11 stuff fine. I have a i5-2400 though. (And 4 gigs of DDR3 RAM but that really doesn't make a difference)
GTX 460, E8200 and 4GB DDR2 here and I can run Metro 2033 on DX11 maxed at 1920x1080 with 60fps. FEELS GOOD MAN
Hey guys, I have a question: I've made a mod pack which is based on an existing overhaul mod (Complete 2009, for its sounds and visuals) but consists of a huge number of gameplay changes of my own, as well as new models, textures and sounds for all sorts of things, and a bunch of small mods (like an AI pack, KingFriday's SRAP, and a music mod) merged in. I originally put it together just for my own use and I haven't released it -- I just distribute it to a few friends. But I think others would appreciate it and I'd like to put it on ModDB, which brings me to the question:
What's the 'feeling' in the mod community when it comes to mod compilations and providing credit? Is it enough to just credit the original authors of mods you incorporate in your pack, or would I be expected to contact the authors for permission? If so, just how small do I have to go? Would I be expected to ask permission to use each and every weapon skin I use, for instance? That would probably be impossible to accomplish in a timely manner...
I figured I'd ask Complete 2009's creators for permission first (since this is basically a mod of that mod and incorporates a large portion of it), and credit everyone else to the best of my ability. I know who created most of the bits and pieces I incorporated, down to all of the weapon skins... But some of the sounds, for instance, I found in various other mod packs and I have no idea where they originally came from since they didn't provide detailed credits to that end. Again, like I said, this pack wasn't so much made as evolved over time.
Any advice on this would be appreciated, because this is something I put together in my own time over a period of years (no joke) and everyone I've given it to really liked it, so I'd like to share it more widely, but I'm not going to bother if people will kick up a shitstorm over it even if I provide detailed credits.

I have a similar system. GTS250, E8400, 4GB DDR2 Ram but I cannot run Metro at DX11 Maxed :( I haven't kept up with recent GPU's and I want to upgrade soon. I suppose it would be safe for me to order a GTX 460 for my system?

Make sure your PSU as at least 600W.

You can run it at very high settings with tessellation and advanced dof enabled with 4x msaa? I have a 470 overclocked to 800/1600/1800 and it falls apart with those settings. fps is literally less than 15

I can run Metro 2033 on normal with a solid 30-40 fps
Anyone send me some good mod links? I've tried Call of Pripyat complete, didn't like it much, except for the emission effect.
Maybe if I'm lucky I'll be able to upgrade soon

Overclock your CPU too
Overclock your CPU too
Yeah I want to get a better cooler (running on stock atm) and overclock it to 4.0Ghz, along with a new GPU. I've never overclocked before though so I've been holding back on it.. I might just take it into a computer place and pay someone to do it for me. I'm a pussy when it comes to the possibility of fucking my PC.

For all your disbelievers of my mystical computer.

Maxed. You must be doing something wrong. Also I edited the BIOS on my 460 to be 1v, the rest is default.
:gonk: what the shit is wrong with my pc
can you post a pic of your video settings?
