It usually seems to do so when I post something. [editline]25th April 2011[/editline]
Just reinstalling SOC, what mods should i use on it?
What mods have you played with before, if any?
Haven't used any on SOC, finished it on vanilla. Whats the best ones to use?
Morning Stalkers! [editline]25th April 2011[/editline]
Hey guys, I have a question: I've made a mod pack which is based on an existing overhaul mod (Complete 2009, for its sounds and visuals) but consists of a huge number of gameplay changes of my own, as well as new models, textures and sounds for all sorts of things, and a bunch of small mods (like an AI pack, KingFriday's SRAP, and a music mod) merged in. I originally put it together just for my own use and I haven't released it -- I just distribute it to a few friends. But I think others would appreciate it and I'd like to put it on ModDB, which brings me to the question: What's the 'feeling' in the mod community when it comes to mod compilations and providing credit? Is it enough to just credit the original authors of mods you incorporate in your pack, or would I be expected to contact the authors for permission? If so, just how small do I have to go? Would I be expected to ask permission to use each and every weapon skin I use, for instance? That would probably be impossible to accomplish in a timely manner... I figured I'd ask Complete 2009's creators for permission first (since this is basically a mod of that mod and incorporates a large portion of it), and credit everyone else to the best of my ability. I know who created most of the bits and pieces I incorporated, down to all of the weapon skins... But some of the sounds, for instance, I found in various other mod packs and I have no idea where they originally came from since they didn't provide detailed credits to that end. Again, like I said, this pack wasn't so much made as evolved over time. Any advice on this would be appreciated, because this is something I put together in my own time over a period of years (no joke) and everyone I've given it to really liked it, so I'd like to share it more widely, but I'm not going to bother if people will kick up a shitstorm over it even if I provide detailed credits.
To release it publicly on somewhere like ModDB, you should really contact the creators of the mods and ask for permission.
Haven't used any on SOC, finished it on vanilla. Whats the best ones to use?
It's a tough one, I guess in your place I'd go to the repository and look around, google some names, look at some videos. Just don't take people soup, not right now.
Whats the rating on Oblivion, and Arsenal?
If I remember correctly Aresenal just adds more guns. Though somebody will probably correct me on that.
If I remember correctly Aresenal just adds more guns. Though somebody will probably correct me on that.
Just adds more guns and weapon variants.

I like that sniper balcony. And it'll probably come in handy during the night if bandits/zombies/military/mutants try to sneak into the camp while everyone else is sleeping..
To release it publicly on somewhere like ModDB, you should really contact the creators of the mods and ask for permission.
Yeah, but...
If so, just how small do I have to go? Would I be expected to ask permission to use each and every weapon skin I use, for instance? That would probably be impossible to accomplish in a timely manner...
It's obvious to ask permission for big mods, but otherwise... I need to know where to draw that line because it's just not practical to track down the author of every sound, texture and snippet of text and ask for permission. I don't even know who's responsible for some of them.
Seeing as how they've basically released their models/textures/sounds as public domain, you might as well just credit them in the readme and be done with it.
Aye but it's still polite to ask permission. You should be fine to credit the smaller mods though.

Yes, there's nothing wrong with asking, you should pretty much always do that really.

I didn't notice a big dip in FPS from outside environments.
Can't remember, probably.
I can tell you the answer is no. [editline]25th April 2011[/editline] What settings are you running on anyway, Kingy?
Aye but it's still polite to ask permission. You should be fine to credit the smaller mods though.
Okay, thanks guys. :3:

One thing that annoys me in CoP and CS, that all NPCs have to have some sort of mask on their faces like rookies never have their face shown fully, and the npcs look identical to eachother
One thing that annoys me in CoP and CS, that all NPCs have to have some sort of mask on their faces like rookies never have their face shown fully, and the npcs look identical to eachother
IMO It's better than constantly watching people that look like they have the bubonic plauge.
