My friend will be doing a Let's Play for his first time playing SOC. I'll post it up once he starts :)

Hey guys, I've been playing stalker for a long time, obviously just joined facepunch. I've got and played all the games, and i put pripyaten on CoP, love it so far, but i can only speculate how frustrating the final battle will be. Anyways, just wanted to say hi. Also, for the record, i had no problems with pripyaten at all, except the crash thats bound to happen. it happens on normal CoP, so i dont mind unless i played for 3 hours and forgot to save. then i get seriously pissed off.

Hello again. So my friend is trying to prepare his SOC Let's Play and he is running into a problem. Since it's his first time I suggested that the only mod he installs is Complete because it doesn't change the overall feel of the game (yadda yadda we all know that already :D). He has the Steam version of SOC which is updated to 1.0005. When he installed Complete and tried starting a new game the client crashes at "Prefetching objects..." Does anyone know what the problem might be? Thanks, any help is much appreciated :)

You can disable the mod temporarily by renaming the gamedata folder. 2.) Delete user.ltx so the game generates a new one. 3.) Try using the -noprefetch command line switch. It might help. One last thing, did you use the .exe installer or the manual version? I'm not sure if there's a difference but I used the latter when I installed Complete.

Why the fuck would you have him play Complete on the first playthrough of the game? Yeah, I sound like a broken record, but saying "play vanilla first" has a lot of merit. Your friend can't understand what Complete does if there's no basis for comparison. Nevermind, it doesn't matter. It depends on the type of person your friend is, Complete may be just the thing if the standard experience is frustrating for them.

Just tell him to play vanilla... really, I think Complete is a stupid mod but I don't care if people play it, AS LONG AS THEY'VE PLAYED VANILLA FIRST

He has played SOC vanilla for 2 hours but only to mess around. Since he'll be doing the Let's Play for his Youtube channel he wants the game to look at it's best which I why I suggested Complete.

It looks like I lost my PDA in a [I]steam[/I] explosion, so I will only tell the tale of my adventures so far. I went through the hellish Garbage and Agroprom fairly quickly with many close calls (I run out of ammo with 15 bandits approaching.) but in the end I always pulled through. Now I am in the Bar with 5000 roubles, a Colt 1911 and 50 rounds of .45 ACP as well as a Stalker suit, a Slug and a Fireball on my belt.

Why should someone who wants exactly that merge it all together themselves? Agreed, that AK looks like trash. AK's are reliable, and even I wouldnt pick up that mangled, rusted mess of steel and wood. EDIT: Also noticed a severe gun damage pictogram above the RAD poisoning pictogram.

Hey guys. So I just finished SOC again. I got one of the good endings this time. Surprisingly, I'm still up for some more S.T.A.L.K.E.R. I'm thinking about giving Clear Sky another go, it's the only Stalker game I haven't finished (I always get about 2 hours in before I get bored). So instead of trying that game again I might just try finishing CoP for the 2nd time. What should I do? Should I play CS or CoP? If it's Clear Sky I need a mod that makes it less boring and frustrating than vanilla. For CoP, just something that changes the game enough to make my 2nd playthrough enjoyable :) Cheers
