I think GSC should really think of a way to weaken the player without frustating you or making you completely useless. Beong a one man army can't keep being fun forever.
shut uip i am drub´k [editline]30th April 2011[/editline] i jave the right
It's okay my blue berry buddy, I luv u anyway. In a non-gay way.

A Redux style economy where it's difficult just to have enough money for basic shit would be cool.

Using the NPC trickery from the old A-Life system could also be a good idea if polished to not make everyone seem like a spetsnaz operative all the time.
just wanna say that i love some dick in my ass (User was banned for this post ("Off-Topic" - Asaratha))
Oh, silly Blaberry. :v:
Itvwould be awesome if they could make it so that npc's also sometimes got scared or would give up.
Oh, silly Blaberry. :v:
Like a true stalker. :ussr:
make something like a scare system, making you become a little less accurate and more loud while doing stuff when you're fighting against a large amount of enemies
No, that is shit. If a player character gets "scared" or something and starts to fumble reloading etc, it's out of the control of the player and a really really bad gameplay mechanic.
Itvwould be awesome if they could make it so that npc's also sometimes got scared or would give up.
If they loose their gun they run away or behind cover and start yelling for help until they don't see another gun.
I own all 3 stalker games and intended to play them, but once i started the first game it pissed me off that there's no autosave and I quit
No, that is shit. Imagine shivering while aiming down the sight. Should stop after drinking a bottle of vodka, energy drink or killing a few hostile stalkers.
If they loose their gun they run away or behind cover and start yelling for help until they don't see another gun.
If I had seen my friends get slaugthered and I saw the killer come for me I don't think I'd feel like fighting.
Not that overdone. Imagine shivering while aiming down the sight. Should stop after drinking a bottle of vodka, energy drink or killing a few hostile stalkers.
I still don't like it. It's effectively taking control out of my hands. If I was nervous then it would be fine, but they can hardly detect that. Gimping the abilities of the player is not a good way to increase difficulty, it's like reducing your speed but speeding up enemies so you can be shot even more when moving between cover (this is pretty annoying in LURK).
I own all 3 stalker games and intended to play them, but once i started the first game it pissed me off that there's no autosave and I quit
L2quicksave noob casual.
I own all 3 stalker games and intended to play them, but once i started the first game it pissed me off that there's no autosave and I quit
CoP has autosave. CS might too, don't remember.

Besides, don't you run faster while scared? Regarding enemy speed, they should run just about as fast as the player, and if we really want to balance it out they should get their own scare system. I'd imagine that after a platoon of bandits die after attacking a loner carrying an exosuit and an RPK, those last few bandits remaining wouldn't dare to run out of cover or fight back.

[editline]29th April 2011[/editline]
CoP has autosave. CS might too, don't remember.
It's hardly enough to prevent an hour loss of playtime.
Eh, if polished it should work. Besides, don't you run faster while scared?
You stumble easier when panicking.
Regarding enemy speed, they should run just about as fast as the player, and if we really want to balance it out they should get their own scare system.
A scare system for NPCs is fine, and I'm also fine with lightly armored NPCs moving faster than you, since your outfit choice is exactly that, a choice.
I'd imagine that after a platoon of bandits die after attacking a loner carrying an exosuit and an RPK, those last few bandits remaining wouldn't dare to run out of cover or fight back.
I don't even see anyone attacking an exosuited heavily armed stalker unless it's an ambush.
I don't even see anyone attacking an exosuited heavily armed stalker unless it's an ambush.
Bandits are known for their stupid descisions. Like not guarding a conviniently placed sewage entrance right next to their base and attacking far bigger fortifications with small, underequipped squads. Remember how there is usually about 20 dead bandits on the east gates of The Hangar in the Garbage at any given time in the game? [editline]30th April 2011[/editline] Speaking of ambushes, I want proper ambushes in the next trilogy, too. Imagine strolling down the garbage. You see a single bandit standing on top of a small hill next to the bus stop. One binocular view later and you see him open fire on you and then quickly run behind the bus stop. Thinking you're up for some easy loot, you carelessly attack the lone bandit, only to be encircled by a squad of bandits that took cover behind the heaps of trash and waited for the lone bandit to signal them to attack you. Avoiding those ambushes would be just as easy as silently taking out the bait or avoiding suspicious spots that they seem to drag you to.
Heh. I know That feeling. Silly bandits, living is for smart people!
It could also work with conviniently placed backpacks that are standing over a land mine or a corpse that's laying around on a suspicious spot. Wounded stalkers laying in said spot could work, too.
It could also work with conviniently placed backpacks that are standing over a land mine or a corpse that's laying around on a suspicious spot. Wounded stalkers laying in said spot could work, too.
This could be a good idea. Also, you could also get distress calls from stalkers(and get a beacon pointing to it) but it could also be a trap.. And you could do this too. Set up a PDA putting out a "call for help" on an open channel, climb into a tree with an SVD and drop the dudes who come to help (or alternatively, if you're not an asshole, shoot only if the signal is attracting bandits who'll arrive in the hopes of loot). Speaking of wounded stalkers, I thought it would be pretty good way to introduce the "counterpart" mutants into the game. You'd be wandering in the wilderness when you hear somebody crying for help. You'll go to give him a medkit but when you get in close, the counterpart reveals it's true identity by tearing your face off/something (it's a mystery how the Counterparts are supposed to attack but I'd guess they would at least have some melee capability). e: as for enemies surrendering/running away would be.. I don't know. Maybe if you'll spare a bandit's life by telling them to sod off instead of killing them you might gain positive fame or something and on the flipside you'll generate the reputation of being a merciless asshole which will gain you good fame with some group(s) and hatred in others. Having a really bad rep should make even neutral factions have some individuals turn hostile to you at times but maybe open opportunities for quests that wouldn't normally be accessible otherwise (like the mercs offering you jobs they trust only stone-cold killers with) .
So do you guys think SGM normal would run better than Blackbyte? Does atmosfear kill fps? [editline]29th April 2011[/editline] I might just try redux, i already have it downloaded
Redux has atmosfear too.
As an option if you downloaded v1.0 Full, yeah. Make sure you patch to v1.05b :)
Redux has atmosfear too.
well I'll try it out- the only reason I wanted SGM is because its different than vanilla, but apperantly my comp doesn't like that [editline]29th April 2011[/editline] as in there is more stuff; i know redux is diff from vanilla obviously
Itvwould be awesome if they could make it so that npc's also sometimes got scared or would give up.
thought that was standard i kept shooting at some bandits and the last one just ducked and put up his weapons then he started running why do they always run
Wow, almost everyone in Cordon in SMP has a mosin nagant. :v:
In LURK, for me, basically 3/4 of the people had SKS'
