Yep, that's definetly Soupy.

Them crazy Russians are invading our brains I tell 'ya!
Oh my god this. vanilla COP is boring and has no atmosphere
Tbh it has more atmosphere than CS, but less fun i.e. a lot less things to do. The side-quests are very well-done, but by their nature they're not replayable.
The Russians are the monolith.

I feel like a failure for not getting the joke. Is it because I only got to see the first half of Tarkovskin's Stalker?
What are some good first time playthrough mods?
None at all is the best.
You wont be able to fully appreciate what the mods add otherwise.

"fully appreciate"
are mods art now?
I mean seriously it's not THAT bad to use Complete on your first playthrough.
I think you could play unmodded the first time until you get sick of the bugs and not being able to repair etc. Then you can change to a mod.
I mean I haven't played unmodded SoC, I tried it with ZRP but the ballistics made me go :geno: and I went back to LURK. And I can still appreciate the mods.
Fully appreciate as in you wont know what the fuck has changed and I swear, there's a lot of things to notice and find even on your first playthrough without any mods. I still find new things to this day.
And no, you couldn't appreciate it fully as you can't see all the changes and how they together change the game.
[editline]13th May 2011[/editline]
Sure, you'll see how the ballistics have been altered, but how would you know of stuff like the new caches and how all these little small tweaks changes the feel of the game.

I remember when I first explored Army warehouses properly. It was amazing, so much detail, but the edges of the map were made pretty crudely.
Anyways yes, there is lots of stuff to find and discover, but playing with complete is not bad.
Actually I'd recommend it to some really new gamers, they'd be otherwise maybe scared away by the bugs and all the little stuff that makes vanilla SoC pretty frustrating.
Well actually I should clarify it isn't really my very first playthrough, but it has been a while since I've played it, and the last time I had it was on a computer that was hardly capable of running the game at all. I had gotten pretty far too surprisingly.
Would anybody be interested in seeing a pripyatan gold playthrough that isn't filmed at 20 fps, but 40 on the highest settings?

Yeah.. Are you doing a livestream possibly?

Well in that case get Complete. It stays close to the vanilla experience gameplay-wise and fixes some bugs while giving some nice graphical improvements (as well as a sleeping bag and the ability to repair your equipment).
Maybe, but I was thinking like youtube videos, I tried to do one before but it was filmed at like 20 fps and my save ended up corrupted so it only got like 16 parts or something.
[editline]13th May 2011[/editline]
18 parts.
Eh, it'll be good for me as long as it won't show a lot of frame downrates and crashes. Those things ruin a good amount of LPs.
I remember clearing out the military base only to realize I could have sneaked in by the time I reached the roof (and the entire base dead.)
At least not until I saw a single soldier walking around and killed him. Then for some reason Firelake started to play over the speakers.
Got a little teary from that for some reason.
'Dem soldiers like DftP.

Also, I'm pretty much giving up modding until July, exams and real-life stuffs are here to take priority!
CoP only has 3 major areas? What is this foolery?
CoP only has 3 major areas? What is this foolery?
They are extremely large.
Not large enough, I got through zaton and yanov in 3 or so days.
CoP only has 3 major areas? What is this foolery?
Yeaah.. I would've liked CoP to at least include both halves of Pripyat, even if that would've meant waiting another 6-12 months for CoP to ship.
That would be neat if the next stalker had the entire 30km zone as one area
[editline]13th May 2011[/editline]
also wtf 3 hour gap?
They are extremely large.
But completely empty
I'm new to the s.t.a.l.k.e.r series and i would like to know which would facepunch recommend i buy first?
Shadow of Chernobyl
Shadow of Chernobyl
Is it because it goes in chronological order or because its the best one?
Because it was the first made
Because it was the first made
