I find them all equally great.
Clear sky is the retarded little sister of CoP and SoC
I find that the only thing that Clear Sky is lacking is lenght and some fixes regarding quests and faction wars.
I HATE the faction wars. After two hours of gunning freedom down, they have no resources and three bars of members left, yet the just keep coming!
In my opinion, Clear Sky could have been great if faction wars actually worked. I wiped out the bandit base TWICE. First time I wiped it out, I thought stalkers would just naturally flocked there but no, they just respawned there so I went back to wipe them out. Those stalkers never help. Red Forest at night is so awesome. I wish they left it in CoP
Yea, the red forest from CS is probably the most atmospheric level in the series. It scared me about as much as the Penumbra series did.
'Dem soldiers like DftP. [editline]13th May 2011[/editline] Also, I'm pretty much giving up modding until July, exams and real-life stuffs are here to take priority!
Personally, I'll be working in June. Since my work mostly consists of sitting in the office, I'll be able to write a lot.
I've been piled with shit for the past few months, but this summer will give me a limitless amount of time to pick up a modding habit.
I couldn't get a summerjob "sorry, we are already full" is the new "get out of here stalker" for me currently :ohdear: Atleast I have time to learn to draw stuff better [editline]14th May 2011[/editline] enjoy your storyteller picture
I didn't manage to get a job either. Oh well, leeching on the government then. Their fault for no hiring me.
Clear sky is the retarded little sister of CoP and SoC
In your opinion.
I have never played CS, but CoP, from what I have seen from it, completely destroys SoC. SoC was pretty much go to X, find Y, kill shitloads of Zs, come back. CoP's missions are much more fun and original. Magpie's quest was fucking amazing.

And CoP is easy as shit plus the maps lack anything to do.
Easy? I'm playing on master and it took me 20 or so tries to kill 2 burers. :colbert: And the maps have many more places of interest when in comparison with SoC. Anomalies are more fun to explore, too, just wish there were more of them.
Then you're just bad at the game. Maps have places of interest, that's true. Too bad that the places of interest don't actually contain anything useful. Anomaly zones would be a novel idea if they were done like they were in CS. Now they're artifact breeding grounds which you can grind for money.
There were anomaly zones in SoC, things like the train tunnels and ruined buildings. They weren't of interest and they weren't marked but they were still anomaly zones. Only thing that needs to be changed about them is putting them more in the spotlight. If there were shortcuts that went through anomaly clusters all over the place and most of the loot was in one, then it'd feel like the zone was always killing you without needing to place them everywhere.
CoP side-missions are better but then again they have no replayability. And CoP is easy as shit plus the maps lack anything to do.
Call of Pripyat is indeed a curious case since it was touted by the devs to be geared towards freeplay but the lack of repeatable sidequests and the fact that missions were apparently designed to be as atmospheric as possible instead of relying on action like the ShoC ones, they don't offer any real replay value since you know how the missions play out every time. That doesn't mean that it's a bad game but overall it's so blatant that it was designed to be "beginner friendly" with every element providing a helping hand to guide you through and there was no "rough edges" like there was in CS and ShoC. There's no "that one level :argh: " like there was in Shadow of Chernobyl and Clear Sky which was less frustrating, sure , but also there wasn't any real sense of accomplishment for S.T.A.L.K.E.R vets when you pulled off one of those hell dungeons. Nor are there any areas that you're genuinely scared to be at when it gets dark and don't really want to leave the conforting warmth of a campfire. The spawning system in CoP seems a bit weird sometimes especially in Yanov when it's especially evident at the cement factory that dudes spawn out of thin air to the top of the tower which usually result in all the firefights being fought on the tower when zombies spawn on top of the Freedomers/Loners hanging out there. It was better in ShoC when the dudes came from the level changers and actually traveled to the locations they were supposed to be manning. That often resulted in unexpected encounters with for example the army sometimes traveling through the Garbage, Army Warehouses and on rare occasions the Bar. And the fact that once you clear the actually built areas such as the Water Treatment Plant, bandit checkpoints in Yanov or the Jupiter factory, the A-Life doesn't migrate there and those locations remain pretty much one-time chances to actually conduct combat with hostile human enemies (which I love in S.T.A.L.K.E.R) . I don't feel good ranting about this stuff but it was pretty depressing when Call of Pripyat came out and there weren't any quality mods out for it :smith: . Now a lot of the problems have been rectified in mods but hopefully GSC has a better balance between the shooting and "tension building" heavy quests in S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2.

After playing vanilla SHoC a long time ago, I would really love to play the game again. After I looked up on some overhaul mods myself I am torn away between LURK and Super Mod Pack (which is generally Oblivion Lost with more snazzy features). The thing is, the real mod I want is Super Mod Pack, but I would really love to get the graphics and atmospheric coloring of LURK. I know there has to be a way to conjoin the two. But, how?

Also, xpod1, have fun. In my opinion S.T.A.L.K.ER. Shadow of Chernobyl is still the best S.T.A.L.K.E.R. of them all, with Call of Pripyat coming a close second. Honestly now that I think about it I'm really intrigued what S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 will be like and what will its secondary title will be (if there will be one) [editline]14th May 2011[/editline] Ninja broke my automerge.
im friends with chutney he talks about that every day

SmP is not great at all, I can tell you. So much shit thrown in for no reason at all, all made redundant, all of them having textures that would be low res in the 8-bit era and a lot of them being wrong in some way, such as weapon positions or ammo usage. That coupled with the infinite ways it can AND WILL crash makes it in my opinion one of the worst mods I have ever played.
[img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/ROLLq.jpg[/img_thumb] What the hell happened here? the w_binoculars is normal now, and no texture is overwriting it, I believe. What is the texture for when you are zoomed in with the binoculars?
In all my game Ive yet to see a zombie with eyes
im friends with chutney he talks about that every day
It's true.
This month's STALKER wallpaper!

I just tried LURK and the shaders are hurting my eyes. It looked good in a low res youtube video. Looks horrible in reality.
Turn fast bloom off and LURK looks fine.
That's probably the best one yet.
