Needs more bandages
Needs more bandages
Actually true. I had to resort to buying the occasional one from loners I came across on the return journey. My bandage stocking habits were formed in vanilla when bleeding often stopped by itself, but then I changed the bleeding so it drains health faster and is much less likely to stop, so I often need more bandages than I think to carry.
I also encountered a weird bug where, every so often, all of my bandages would disappear. Turns it out was due to some stupid auto-healing script in Complete that would automatically apply a bandage if you're bleeding and have less than 15% health or something, but because it was buggy it would apply all of the bandages in your possession, not just one. It took me a while to figure that out, though, so I thought I was going crazy and just kept forgetting to bring them.
Damn Super Mod Pack... Army Warehouse crash is annoying, makes the game unplayable
What kind of weapons do the Monolith soldiers usually carry in Red Forest? I though they had NATO weapons mostly and you could get ammo of their corpses.
Does SoC have a file extractor like CoP, or do I need to do something else to mod it?
Go from the Army Warehouses to the Bar, see this:

:geno:
(The M16 looks like that because it has an artifact in it. People Soup also removed the level changer that goes from the Bar to Army Warehouses, but kept the one that comes back...)

There's a file extractor but I don't have the link to it right now.

It's about half and half. LR-300s and L85s (5.56mm), and AKs and Abakans (5.45mm) are the most common rifles, and almost all of them use the 9x19mm Walther P99 as their sidearms.
Love that gun, scrap the 1911 and grab a P99 yourself.
Also I'd probably pick up any ammo I could, including 5.45 along the way. If you run out of 5.56 then you can just grab one of their Abakans and use it for a while.

Oh god, what's happened? I shoot the body again, it goes down to the ground, and then it bounces back up like a spring :ohdear:
You know, I love the Garbage. The easy bandit kills make it fucking hilarious.

Pictured here are 11 bandits. Not pictured the other 15.
For STALKER 2 there should be a morale system. I mean you'd think a common criminal would give up after 20 of his buddies are brutally murdered.
Which is the best STALKER game?
I actually have a computer now that can run this.

Shadow of Chernobyl. Next best is Call of Pripyat. Only get Clear Sky if you really, really love the series.
Oh and play them all without mods on your first playthrough. You'll appreciate mods more if you play it vanilla first.

I played through vanilla Clear Sky recently. Why all the bashing, I found it very fun and it gets better fps than SoC.

It's good, don't get me wrong, but it doesn't hold a candle to SHoC and CoP. It feels like there is a lack of adventure in CS, in my opinion. That and it lacks a lot of the atmosphere SHoC had. Spartan 11:11, however, makes it scary as balls with the Izloms and Controllers spawning everywhere, so much so that I haven't even made it past the Swamps.
What edition of people soup do you have (regular, dmx + dbz) and is it fully patched?
It's the one on blaberry's site, People Soup + DMX. It's patched with the patches that were in included in the download.
[editline]5th April 2011[/editline]
It's People soup + DMX 1.3.2 + dbz 02

Can't speak for everyone else, but I concur with the general opinion that it's the weakest of the series, for a number of reasons.
Its feel and quality are very inconsistent. The swamps are awesome and have a great atmosphere (shame there's not much to do in them after the faction warfare tutorial is over...), and the new Red Forest is also nice (though unfortunately linear), but the rest of the areas sort of fall flat in comparison. I thought the SoC areas looked and felt dull and lacked a lot of the atmosphere they had in the first game, with the possible exception of Agroprom, the 'mutant siege' tone of which I liked.
Limansk is just dismal from a gameplay perspective (it plays like a terrible Call of Duty clone) with very little time to explore or appreciate any of the visuals, and the difficulty and pacing is all over the place (especially from Limansk until the end). Up until Limansk, I found the difficulty in the rest of the game to be fine, if anything a bit too easy. Just to be safe though I went into Limansk carrying as many supplies as my (permissive, vanilla) weight limit would allow, and even that wasn't nearly enough. It's just constant, exhausting fighting.
I was combat fatigued and out of ammo for my rifle before I'd even gone all the way through the hospital, which left me with no choice but to take on exo-wearing stalkers with only my pistol (not fun times). It wouldn't have been so bad if I ever had time to loot all those bodies, but as soon as I'd clear an area, unlimited respawning enemies would start flowing in from another direction and I'd be urged: "go on, we'll hold them off!". Sigh. The ending was very dull compared to the other two, as well. It feels like you haven't achieved anything.
The faction wars system is kind of fun but soon gets repetitive and the level of stalker activity it demands kills the atmosphere in a lot of places. It works fine in the swamps because they're big enough, but in a lot of the other areas you can't go 100 meters without running into yet another group of people and the constant attacks and counter-attacks turn choke points into meatgrinders.
All that said, I have had fun with it and it has some nice ideas (like the use of detectors to hunt for artifacts in anomaly fields, and the upgrade system, both of which were more fleshed out in CoP) but it doesn't measure up to the other games.
Still doesn't work. I'm gonna try the other people soup directory in the Index, the one that says +DMX or whatever.
EDIT: Nope, anything beyond "cumulative patch" won't extract for me. So unless someone knows a fix for me, I'm not gonna waste my time on this piece of shit.
Look, I just downloaded part one of regular people soup and ignored the other parts.
Guess what happened when I tried opening it?
Unspecified error.
You need all three files in the same damn directory.
[editline]6th April 2011[/editline]
And you can not extract part by part.

Hey blaberry, has anyone else had my problem that I've been bitching about the last 10 posts?
Do you have fixingsoup?
If so, just copy any sound and rename it to what the soup is requesting.
Fixing soup 0.1? All that's in here are some actor mesh fixes and some weapon fixes it looks like. I already put it in before trying to play the thing.
Right, then just copy any other sound and name it the same as the file the soup is looking for.
Oh no I fixed the sound one by just skipping the intro with '-nointro'. The one I'm having problems with now is when I try to make a new game or load a new game I crash while it's on the loading screen. I get this error log :
FATAL ERROR
[error]Expression : fatal error
[error]Function : CRender::texture_load
[error]File : E:\stalker\sources\trunk\xr_3da\xrRender\Texture.c pp
[error]Line : 295
[error]Description : <no expression>
[error]Arguments : Can't find texture 'prop\prop_pribori_02_001'
What should I do, make some folder just like that and copy paste some random texture file and name it that?
Oh right, sorry for missing that.
But if you have more than two errors, I'd suggest re-extracting or even re-downloading, since there's probably a ton of missing files.
[editline]6th April 2011[/editline]
But if you want to try and fix it, yes, do exactly that.
I'll try fixing it tomorrow and if it doesn't work I guess I'll be redownloading again... I might even just go for regular people soup and hope I don't miss too many awesome features. Thanks again.
Regular people soup is great, too.
Regular soup just has a fucking terrible HUD
Hey stalkers! I dare say, but it's my 13th birthday today. Please don't be annoyed about my age :smith:
I got: Well, nothing except £160. That at least replenishes the 45 quid I wasted on a shitty headset.
I have a total of £310.
When I take the headset back by inadvertently giving it a 'fault' I will get another £45.
It's a good day, fellow stalkers.
/offtopic
Oh and I got bear grylls dvds and I can get any items up to about £200.
Why not just buy good surround sound speakers. I bought my Logitech X-540's years ago for $80. Amazingly good purchase.
When I finish Crysis 2's SP Imma Download AMK and get back into STALKER
[editline]6th April 2011[/editline]
What's the difference between AMK and AMK sid edition?
