It couldn't be hard, I don't see many CSS elements that can't be done in HTML, I'm taking a look at the code.

Be sure to get the main mod, cumulative patch. I'd also recommend the weapons expansion pack, improved enemy characteristics, and the addons that you see fit.
Grab the original textures pack if you're getting poor performance as well, it helped me a fuckton.

Yes it is, and is more efficient. But if you are doing something in CSS that can be done in HTML, I would do it in HTML.
Then you have to add those variables to every single page, that ain't good for modularity and expandability.

Yeah, unfortunately that didn't work. I'm having a similar problem with vanilla CoP as well... I played it a while ago and loading times were fine, however now I can't even start a game. The loading bar takes 10 minutes to get full and then just sits there.

I like the idea. It certainly sounds like something CS should've been. The faction strength thing you mention could be fleshed out a little : When a faction establishes a foothold in key area(such as the Barrier,Agroprom Loner base, Duty Checkpoint etc. they would slowly start fortifying it and occupying the spot with more reinforcements before moving out, possibly even putting snipers in elevated positions and maybe even sandbags and mounted machineguns if their faction strength is high enough and sending out patrols to scout some areas around the perimeter.
Moreover, the factions should have faction specific goals that would be logical for that faction. For example, Duty will strive to clear safe paths for scientists and cleaning out mutant lairs while the bandits would rather want to control checkpoints where they can gather road tolls from lone travelers and ambush loners who are returning from artifact hunting.
So anyone got that SoC Extractor?

Tip: If you are extracting the stalker archives, use this.

In the first textbox, put your stalker directory. ( e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\stalker shadow of chernobyl )
then in the output type where you want the shit to be extracted to. ( e.g. C:\Gamedata )
Then hit update, click on the first one, scroll down to the bottom, hold shift and click the last one. You should have all of the items selected, then click extract.

When I talk to Koskalov or w/e that guy's name is in CoP (in Pripyat, the guy who gives the missions) after leaving X8, I tell him about the documents I found and when I try to select the option to go to one of their meetings and kill the chief, I press OK and the game just freezes on with the camera having no HUD but he is still in idle animation, music is still going, stalkers are still in the building because I hear doors opening and closing

I remember encountering that bug (or a very similar one). IIRC it was caused by changing something to do with weather and/or sound in my mod pack in the middle of a playthrough, starting a new game fixed it.
What mods are you running and have you made any changes to them since starting your current game?
I finally made it to the bar in People Soup + DMX! And who I run into? Motherfucking Gordon Freeman just walking around. I ask how he was doing and how he got to the zone. He finally told me about his special Desert Eagle that can take out a couple of Bloodsuckers in only one magazine. So I accept his mission, and then he proceeds to get killed by two bloodsuckers that spawned behind me.
Such is life for Gordon Freeman in the zone...
