Rostok was taken by the monolith before SoC, iirc. [editline]11th April 2011[/editline] :ninja:
People here have always said that, but as far as I know that's never actually mentioned in the game :/
At least the Red Forest/areas around the Scorcher would probably have hostile Monolith patrols, I'm sure. Getting Monolith just right in WotW will be pretty tricky, that's for sure. On the other hand you'd be raping the lore if you just had them all be hostile like in ShoC and a big part of the fascination of WotW for me is to experience events predating even the stuff of Clear Sky. But on the other hand gunfights against human opponents in S.T.A.L.K.E.R are really satisfying and especially so against the Monolith, who posses the most high-end gear.
Aye, I'm very much trying to keep things within the lore of the games, but as if it's possible to affect the future of the Zone (if you get what I mean). The human opponents in the latter parts of the Zone will likely be Mercs, Monolith and Spetsnaz goons I think.
They come off as really creepy in the first playthrough as you're just finding your footing, having trouble even with the low-tier factions like the bandits and military grunts and then you hear about a hardcore sect of crazy religious zealots guarding the center of the Zone and the first area you are most likely to meet them in happens to be what is thought to be one of the most irradiated areas of the entire Zone IRL (and ingame aswell). Personally I'm okay with most being neutral with the occasional hostile group. Btw, Thorny,if I may inquire: Are you going to possibly incorporate any of the following to WotW or considering these : 1. A.I tweaks that allow NPC's to use attachments(grenade launchers, scopes), melee etc. Nope 2. Better weapon sounds like in Redux Considering SoC/CS weapon sounds, but not third party ones no. 3. Variety mod for the Stalker skins(I mainly mean the vanilla faction, loners, zombies etc) that was present in Redux ? Yup, used to full effect. 4. Random weapon loadouts for some NPCs much akin to Redux ? Yup, for almost all NPCs (and improved over the Redux version). 5. Incorporation of AtmosFear ? Nope. If it's classified at this point, no problem. Also, a random SDK question for anyone who is familiar with the CoP SDK : Is it possible to create an NPC that would track the player's position and try reaching him across levels? As in , an NPC spawns into the Cordon and then would travel to Rostok, where the player is and then come initiate a conversation/attack them ?
Wouldn't be done through the SDK, but could be done through complicated scripting.
It makes me so proud that I have Thorny on my friends list. I'm always to my friends "Hey you know Redux? I'm friends on steam with the guy who made that fo shizzle"
Haha awww
I think Thorny said somewhere that the mod will be as "vanilla" as possible, regarding the aesthetic stuff.
Aye you're basically right. Regarding the Rulix stuff, it's buggy and incomplete, and I'm 99% sure I won't be including it, sorry.
I thought barkeep talked about it?
can enybody tell me what WotW is ?
I thought barkeep talked about it?
I don't think he did. But really, we're talking about a faction that is able to waste veteran troops as cannon fodder for raiding the barrier several times a day in SoC and still have enough troops to cover the entire interior, exterior and the surrounding area of the CNPP, plus Limansk, Pripyat, Red Forest and every area between the CNPP and Red Forest during CS and SoC. I'm sure you can't fit that many people in something like the Garbage Hangar or the Bloodsucker Village. Right now it just makes sense to assume that their HQ was in Rostok, you can't fit them anywhere else, it's all occupied.

My guess is that the bulk of their forces are made up of them, with the original core either mixed throughout or incorporated into the elite divisions.
Plus remember a lot of the Zone isn't even in the game. Who's to say that the Monolith even hung around somewhere we know about?
Plus remember a lot of the Zone isn't even in the game. Who's to say that the Monolith even hung around somewhere we know about?
Limansk?
Limansk?
Too far North I think.
Sausages. Oh king. Have my SMP inventory :v: [img_thumb]http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/558653617713375097/1C929A52823544423FE37A85597E5C319800F22F/[/img_thumb]
Aaaaand 90% of those guns have absolutely shitty ironsights
Arsenal isn't renowned for quality control. Nor SMP, for that matter.
Aaaaand 90% of those guns have absolutely shitty ironsights
And animations and models.
Not to mention balance and ammo availability.
Playing my 2nd playthrough of Redux. Go to the checkpoint and tell the bandit leader where he can shove it. Shoot my way out. Juiced up on the weight enhancing drug, taking 60kgs worth of loot back to the station. Drop of all loot into my personal container and take what needs to fixed and sold. Emission begins. Sorting out weapon reapirs and move onto armour - Unaware of imminent death looming upon me. Mercs breaking into the Station to avoid the emission and no one seems to give a fuck and the hunt me down Alpha Squad Style. Get killed whilst on repair menu. Better load up my last save I think to myself... Which was just before I kill the bandits. Repair menu is still present with how much it costs to repair my armour so I click no. Game crashes. I think to myself I should copy the error report and post it here for Thorny or others to see what went wrong... Error report programme crashes. Such is life on Xray Engine.
Even if BugTrap crashes, it should still write the logfile, which can be found in the same folder as the savedgames folder.
Plus remember a lot of the Zone isn't even in the game. Who's to say that the Monolith even hung around somewhere we know about?
Well, there are the remains of Clear Sky that joined the Monolith, but I doubt that that many stalkers crossed The Barrier. Other than that I can't really see how are they getting that many stalkers into the faction.

Other than that I can't really see how are they getting that many stalkers into the faction.
Well I was talking about where they hung out before they went North, but yeah, I imagine they get their troops from the initial faction fanatics, indoctrinated stalkers that passed the Scorcher and what was left of Clear Sky.
At least the iron sights line up with the center of the screen in SMP, unlike vanilla. A lot of the weapons in SMP look fine though, I've been using the HK416 and it looks great
At least the iron sights line up with the center of the screen in SMP, unlike vanilla
What the shit There are tons of mods that are better than SMP and many have that too, maybe even vanilla I'm not sure.
If you load up vanilla, quite a few of the default weapons' iron sights aren't perfectly centered (Not that it matters much because everything sprays like a blunderbuss anyway)
If you load up vanilla, quite a few of the default weapons' iron sights aren't perfectly centered (Not that it matters much because everything sprays like a blunderbuss anyway)
Yes the vanilla sight are sometimes misaligned
Yes the vanilla sight are sometimes misaligned
Like the SPAS.
Like the SPAS.
They weren't even trying with the SPAS.
I'm glad mods can fix almost anything.
Grass draw distance :smith:
That damned grass
I claim this page in the name of the monolith
do melee weapons really make a difference in peoplesoup/dmx? or are they simply to rid me of the bloodspecked potato peeler that is the default knife
They are downgrades, what did you expect from the soup?
do melee weapons really make a difference in peoplesoup/dmx? or are they simply to rid me of the bloodspecked potato peeler that is the default knife
Use the crowbar. It may take longer to swing than a knife, but man, it's Gordon Freeman's crowbar.
