It's been out for ages, what are you smoking?
I only now saw the RPS article about it so that's what I thought, I've been smoke free for quite awhile due to my job :v:.
So whenever I want to install ShoC again, play some lurk or something, the thing that instantly turns me against it is having to re-play cordon/garbage.. Is there a way I could just skip ahead or go free-roam or something?
Complete 2009 has a menu that lets you skip ahead to areas, provides you with some basic supplies and marks done any quests that you would have completed at that point. I think that feature is from ZRP but I'm not sure.

so it ... plays the game for you?
I hate it when people use Cyrillic letters as replacements for letters from the English alphabet just because they look similar
Since I know russian it's really hard to read that :(
I hate it when people use Cyrillic letters as replacements for letters from the English alphabet just because they look similar
I'm glad Tripwire Interactive has stopped doing it. The original Red Orchestra, back when it was a mod for UT2004, had that. It looked really irritating.
ROOST dosn't have it, and chances are ROHOS won't have it either. I'm glad of that.
so it ... plays the game for you?
You could say that. I use it to quickly get to later levels to test things I change.
Using cyrillic letters for english words is just silly. It looks horrible and sometimes you can barely decipher what do the words mean.

Cordon is the best part in the series
after that it just gets too easy
thorny remember to call yourself artistthorny from now on
Instant recognition from magazines, sites and retarded fanboys the minute he changes his name to "Artistthorny".
Is Clear Sky complete any good? And if so, is it easy to run?
Gritty zone looked good. Then at the three minute mark: BLOODY SCREEN. SO REAL
[editline]12th April 2011[/editline]
Everything else looks good though.
Fucking climbing.
Another day in the Zone... I was poking around the sawmill coming back from artifact hunting, and see a zombie standing near the lookout platform so I decided to knife him in the back... Only to get interrupted by his comrades who shambled out of the thick fog surrounding the premises.
Thankfully his buckshot didn't kill me outright but he almost got his vengeance in my pants as I almost soiled myself out of mad terror(thanks to the no-save policy) and bolted into the shed. The zombies were numerous and almost caught me from the flanks a couple of times but miraculously they missed the first shots and so I was able to escape. It seems completely unreal how tense even the most basic hostile encounters are in Redux(especially if not quicksaving so dying means something). I had to listen real closely where the zombies were approaching using only the sound of their dragging feet and every minute felt like an eternity. Every time I tried to sneak out of the shed, there was a hail of fire sweeping at me from the thick fog.
My AK ran out of gun juice trying to blindfire into the nearest muzzle flashes and so I prepared to make my last stand with only my knife and my trusty Fort-12. Then I hear gunfire followed by angry curses in russian. Bandits had come to save the day. I was determined to not let them get all the phat loot from the zombies for themselves and jumped out of the shed with my pistol drawn to take carefully aimed shots at those too busy concentrating on the bandits.
The undead tide is turned and I make ready to swoop down the hill and gather the spoils of victory. The bandits unholster their weapons ,apparently having the same thing in mind. Suddenly a series of explosions goes off in the center of the bandit squad, killing them all instantly. At this point I say "fuck it" and run back to the skadovsk to sell the two artifacts I got and return later to check out what the hell just happened.
And sure enough :

:zombie: :gibs:
Also, here's some unrelated screens :

I got hit by a blowout while on the way to Iron Forest. Thankfully the Merc substation was near so I could take cover... Or so I thought. Few of them ran in ahead of the group and shut the door behind them so that the rest of us couldn't get in  .

Here's a merc sentry trying to shoot an innocent dog that just wanted some human contact.

Sadly his buddies got through the hail of ineffectual fire and mistook Oak's testicles as their chew toys :saddowns:

The Sevchenko just for the hell of it.
wonderful upcoming mods such as "Way of the wolf", "Return to the shadows"
Never even heard of this.. What's that supposed to be?
e: Ah, wait, nevermind http://www.moddb.com/mods/return-to-the-shadows
Ahh, it's basically converting ShoC maps for CoP and a new storyline. It also looks like one of the Monolith guys in one of the screenshot is Strider.
Cordon is the best part in the series

I mean I want to go to say, Pripyat or red forest and just hunt mutants and shit.
I think I'm going to try the new OL out, because of the newer weapons/all the activity in the zone.
Don't get me wrong, I love playing a dark, lonesome journey sometimes but Im in the olypmic-jumpy hunty mood
[editline]12th April 2011[/editline]
also, all glory to the monolith
thorny remember to call yourself artistthorny from now on
This made me laugh.
Uh, shit. Call of Pripyat suddenly wont launch. I've reinstalled multiple times, nothing seems to work. What's going on?
Ugh... I love SoC LURK, sure the effects of stamina are shit.. but the rest is brilliant.
Though... I hate my computer not being able to run it at max settings :(
Also is there any console command to go into third person?

Stamina works just like regular Stalker?
Stamina works just like regular Stalker?
Well what I mean is the effect around the screen, it's black brushes or something.. Some god awful thing.
Well what I mean is the effect around the screen, it's black brushes or something.. Some god awful thing.
I think it looks neat, would have preferred blurring though.
I wish I could get some free time and free inspiration for some lv the Satsh info, sadly I'm on a imagination dry spell.
I think it looks neat, would have preferred blurring though.
Maybe vintaging with blur... I know my vision doesn't go all black and fucked when I'm out of breath.
CS is a great game, shaddup
Never said it wasn't, shaddup
I'm only saying I now understand why this is usually people's least favorite STALKER game, try to keep from getting upset.
Check this shit out guys:
A friend and I made it today, it converts percentages into pretty damn accurate (100% is unfortunately, impossible without help from GSC) values for CoP suit protection values.
Want to edit a suit to have 90% Thermal protection? You can now! It even gives you the line to edit, with correct value included.
I havn't been playing stalker in a while. Been doing a playthrough of Deus Ex.
:argh: My friend has a pirated version of SoC on his Macbook. And another one is gonna get it from him!
Well at least they enjoy the game.

"getting upset"
man are you 10 lol
1. 90% of the content is taken from other mods
2. the mod is hyped as the best thing since sliced bread
3. the creator calls himself "Artist" Pavel, and acts pretentious
4. the mod dosn't really add much besides improved atmosphere, textures and bug fixes. this in of itself is not a problem, but the maker peddles it as the best mod ever
I know this is an old post but you do realize that he calls himself artistpavel because he draws, right? People who draw or paint are generally called artists.
Also he's pretty nice, he listens to complaints and tries to fix what's broken with his mods and isn't pretentious

Maybe, but the other three still hold.
Loaded up CoP for the first time in a month, and forgot all the controls.
In X8, loaded to a barrel in my face, thus shitting myself and running to the surface. Being assaulted by Zombies and then a Bloodsucker out in the rain at midnight.
Then blew myself up with the attached grenade launcher. I have so much to (re) learn.
