And about these bolts, when you throw them at the anomaly-type things (I don't know the name for them :v:) they just make a cool explosion and do nothing. wat do
That's what they do. Alert you of anomalies and show the current type.
You most likely found a springboard. Later on you will find diferent types.
Okay so avoid anomalies, but do artifacts spawn right next to the bit that hurts you? If so, how can I get them without killing myself?
I fixed up Fox and got some money from him and I'm going to kip in the building next door, but I would still like to know how to get past the crates.
Artefacts are a bit all over the place in SoC.
Still, uninstall complete and play it without it.
You won't know what you're getting, and appreciating other mods might become harder.
They do spawn nearby artifacts, that's why you have the bolts. Throw a bolt to know if what path is safe, wherever it doesn't go off is good. Throw one everywhere to map out a way through the anomalies and get to the artifacts.
You get used to it and pretty much throw bolts everywhere after a while. They save your hide more than you think.
I too would suggest uninstalling Complete while you're still very early in the game. It'll heighten your appreciation for any mods after your vanilla playthrough.
I didn't notice that Complete changed the game so much, I just thought it was a retexture mod? Either way, it's a bit late now because I've already started playing :arghfist::saddowns:.
Up to the bit saving a man called Fox
you're early on in the game, uninstall complete now to save wasted time
I remember when I foolishly installed Complete on my first playthrough, I got all the way up to the Bar before uninstalling it because everyone in this thread kept yelling at me
i remember when i installed complete
then i uninstalled it
;)
I started a new Cop game whit blackbyte. I spawned next to a bloodsucker. You figure out the rest.
I installed mods for SoC played them for like a minute, uninstalled them and played vanilla. Best decision of my life
I have never properly played vanilla, tried it with ZRP, got sick of it when I had to shoot a military guy 10 times in the head before he died.
The AI in these games is much better than some other games of similar concept.

I'm about to head for the Red Forest for the first time, to turn off the Brain Scorcher. I don't really know what to expect, is this loadout adequate:

You're going to get raped, die, and get raped again.
Good weapons though, I suggest some more ammunition.

Won't the Monolith drop ammo, or is it just not practical to loot them?
Damn I hate going to the red forest in lurk, I gotta get like 3 suits with me, and I'll still run out of them.
The suit degeneration system is BORKED
The Red Forest really isn't a big deal in my eyes, you really just need quite a lot of ammo thanks to the hordes of Monolith.
Good thing the PDA signals thingy lived up to it's desing in the Brain Scorcher Lab. It would be a little awkward to run unprepared into 40 Monolith Experts all aiming at you, wouldn't it?

Oh god, first time playing stalker

What the shit ?
It's behind some rocks in the bloodsucker village.
You'll see a whole metric fuckton of those in Red Forest, Pripyat and the CNPP.

I think that Monolith troops do that to see how many stalkers they have killed, unlike for example, cutting dents into their equipment or picking up PDAs and dogtags of other stalkers.
Alright so I turned off the Brain Scorcher, now there's a marker moving on the map away from me, it's on the other side of a combination lock door. How do I get to it?
nevermind, got him

Well, it's an aesthetics mod. It barely changes the gameplay, but it changes the looks and sounds and thus alters the feel of the game significantly.

Except that it does change the gameplay as well.
I never found anything great about complete for SoC at all.
Except that it does change the gameplay as well.
In what way? The only gameplay changes I'm aware of are these: It makes the player somewhat more resilient to damage (easier) and makes literally every single mutant somewhat tougher (harder), those changes balance each other out to some degree and the difficulty is similar to vanilla, hence: "barely".
enemies throw grenades in complete

Oh and is there a mod that makes the movement less ... "sticky"? I hate how when I'm sprinting and encounter some stairs or debris I slow down in a really jittery way. I'm not asking for Quake-style movement, just something to make movement feel smoother.
It also adds the sleeping bag, off the top of my head.

A lot of anti-rad as well, there are pockets of radiation in all of the good places of cover :(
