Let me rephrase that..the best mod with dynamic A-Life (or w/e its called)
This is built into the game?
Or did you not notice all the packs of stalkers travelling everywhere?
What the fuck
[editline]20th April 2011[/editline]
10 bandages, 4 medkits, that's my usual setting.
Also how can one lower the weight of bandages in LURK? I think it's pretty ridiculous how they weight 200 grams :geno:
I get shot a lot.

Seriously? I just started playing and it seems pretty easy to not get shot... Playing on whatever the highest difficulty is. Here's a good tactic: if it's shooting at you, don't run towards it with your gun stashed away!

Eh, in Vanilla they're pretty static. Take for example the guys sitting in the Dark Valley farm. They don't ever move and pretty much only movement happens when you hit an event flag such as clearing Yantar-> Some Loners set up a camp there.
Yeah, it's not instantly noticeable and if you'll tell newbies that the A.I is dynamic and does different stuff every time bla bla they'll believe you but upon further scrutiny it's evident that there are not a whole lot of dynamic events going on.
But feel free to correct me. It's a really long while since I've played vanilla...
e: I still occasionally get surprised by Vanilla ShoC's A-life and when I do, it's a really terrifying experience in a good way.
I recall dicking around the Bar/Wild Territory/Army Warehouses intersection near the 3 man Duty checkpoint right next to the level changer to Wild Territory. It's getting really dark and I take a few steps toward the changer to the Army Warehouses. Suddenly, I hear something hitting a window on a nearby building and my heart rate doubles for a while. "It can't be an enemy since the Bar is a neutral Zone in Vanilla, it can't...", I mutter to myself and step out of the cover I had jumped to. And sure enough, a burst from a silenced weapon hits a brick wall behind me and one shot hits me. I still can't see anything and run to the Duty patrol. The next few minutes are tense as hell , I'm cowering behind the Dutyers, unwilling to do any shooting myself. Eventually one of the Duty guys empty their weapons into the darkness and when I go inspect the bodies, there was a five man team of Military Stalkers armed with AS VAL rifles.
e2:
You're correct but they're talking about Call of Pripyat which generally is a lot more dynamic.
Oh, right. Well, nevermind then.

Was playing on recommendation from a friend, I'll have to find the disc to reinstall if I want to play vanilla. I have no idea where the disc is, so I guess i'm sticking with Complete.

Because marketing.
Sorry, enjoying the game anyways.
Also is it supposed to be this stable? From what I've heard here I was expecting a crash every time I looked too hard at something.

Complete fixes the game.

so many poor unknowing rookies coming in here recently that aren't playing vanilla...
rookies playing complete makes thorny sad :(
Believe me stalker, you'll regret it. Uninstall it before it's too late. Just delete the gamedata folder.

What's the A-life like on LURK, compared to both vanilla and AMK?
What's the A-life like on LURK, compared to both vanilla and AMK?
I think it's almost the same as vanilla.

Reinstalling isn't necessary. You can rename the 'gamedata' folder so the game can't find it and it'll use all the vanilla files instead.
Or he can just delete it. Every single mod I've ever used makes a new gamedata folder anyway.
Or he could just enjoy the game the way he wants to.
Yeah, why not let him have an inferior viewpoint to view other mods from.
That's not a terrible idea at all.
As long as he enjoys his game he paid for, I really don't care what he does. He shouldn't have to pick the mods we suggest and he shouldn't have to uninstall and reinstall his game and play Vanilla if he doesn't want to.
Playing complete without playing vanilla will make him compare other mods to complete instead of vanilla.
This is a fact, lest he is some kind of computer that can totally remove any impression anything has had on him.
It gives him a point of view from which all mods are compared to bloomy-ville.
Well if he wants to do that, you have a point, but at the same time? The only person he ruins is himself. If he just wants to enjoy Complete and not all the other mods, than that is his problem, not ours.
Not very empathetic, I know.

Delete the folder labeled Gamedata. You don't have to reinstall the game.
