I have decided I am going to try and get out of the Agroprom when I get home from class in a few hours.
Wish me luck, stalkers. :c00l:
I'd like the idea if you could then fill the mags in your inventory or do a mag refill animation(that you can stop anytime to reload only the amount you want) because one bullet clips annoy the hell out of me. You don't exactly want to waste a perfectly good mag into the air just because it has only like 5 bullets left like I find myself doing in ARMA 2.
But I like the idea. Also, you could buy your ammo in packets or mags. Buying it in mags would be more costly but you could buy those if you can't be arsed to refill your mags yourself every damn time.
Please god no magazine refilling animations that would be the most useless waste of time in the history of gaming
Have a magazine system like proposed ages ago: belt slots. A lot of slots, you can place 30 assault rifle rounds / 17 pistol rounds / whatever is the amount that fits your current weapons into a slot, or replace them with an artifact. When you run out of ammo in your belt slots, you need to drag ammo into the slots again. It could do it automatically after a battle to reduce the hassle.
Kinda like NLC does it.
Oh, and let the armors have more goddamn containers. The merc suit is the only armor in the game I would personally even use for combat, with every other suit randing from babyshit-camo sunrise to the exoskeleton has no magazine pouches, requiring you to dig shit from your backpack to reload.

Yeah, the mag filling animation would be pretty dumb... First I thought it would be cool like the Far Cry 2 jam clearing animations but that's a bit too much effort. But the magazine pouch/belt slot thing would be definitely a good idea. It could be used to differentiate the armors further. Like, the SEVA is magnificent against anomalies but you'd have to spend a good deal of money to upgrade ammo pouches for it. The more combat-oriented suits like the Berill and Skat-9 would naturally have a decent amount of them already when you purchase them.
Also, you could buy separate pistol holsters allowing you to pack two big weapons + a pistol on the side.
Zezibesh has the right idea.
Far Cry 2 jamming thing in stalker would rock.
Also regarding the whole regenerative health thing, I think that health bars are the best, but if you absolutely don't want healthbars, then it should just darken and make everything greyscale.

Mah merge!

That grip looks very useless.
Or is it just for the lamps battery?
That's a sexy VAL.
The VAL is my favourite weapon in STALKER.

Funny thing is I'm not a huge fan of the VSS.

I am actually tied up for my favorite weapon. Either the AKS-74 (love the green grips), the VAL (neat look), the Groza (free grenade launcher), or the SVD (my sniper of choice and green grips)

VSS is absolute sex but it makes everything so damn easy :ohdear: .
Besides, the VAL is better in CQB situations, especially so when you don't use crosshair because scoping is really clunky in those encounters.
It would be cool to have all those attachments in S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 :fappery: . Make the enemies more likely to headshot you if you use the head-mounted lamp in the dark so there'd be a reason to have a tac-light mounted in your weapons if you're planning to do some night ops .
VAL all the way for me.
Hands down.
Dragunov and AKS-74 are tied for second, but VAL is number one. Seriously though, as soon as I get my hands on a VAL in the Red Forest (Oblivion Lost), it's game over man. Game over for all those fucking Monolith.
Only downside is if I recall correctly, getting ammo for it is a downright bitch.
AN-94 is the best. Dat double burst.
Now that I think about it, there are a lot of gameplay elements from Farcry 2 that would be pretty cool in STALKER. Jamming animations, the way the screen blurs when your stamina is low, and I like the way you actually pull bullets out of your arms and fix broken arms when you get really badly injured.

And not a single medkit was given that day.

VSS for the concept, VAL for the coolness, Groza for the looks, coolness and concept, SVD for the concept and looks.

It doesn't work properly in the game though, it's supposed to fire the two rounds at around 1800RPM with one pull of the trigger, in Stalker it fires them just as fast as the regular rounds, recoil affects the second round (it shouldn't) and you need to hold down the trigger or it will shoot only one round.

Phew, a Dutier joined the party too.
so if Complete is shit, which mod should I be using?
For Call of Pripyat.

I then went on to fight a group of rats twice that size, a group of fleshes and two groups of bandits.
Zone is just full of stuff in SGM-B.
so if Complete is shit, which mod should I be using?

None if it's your first playthrough.
so if Complete is shit, which mod should I be using?

Depends on what you want. I always suggest Redux if you want more of a challenge and you are fine with the amount of content.
If you want a ton more content with a lot less polish, go for some variant of SGM.
[editline]20th April 2011[/editline]
Oh and for first playthrough you go vanilla
so if Complete is shit, which mod should I be using?

Depends entirely on what you want from the mod.
If you're into something close to vanilla, only harder and with survival actually meaning something as well as graphics tweaks and a more dangerous zone, Redux would be a good choice.
If you want new weapons, new missions (which are well made), new factions , new features ( bankers, hirable bodyguards) , the ability to actually join factions, I suggest SGM.
e: Damn you, Blåberry :eng99: .

SGM, Redux. Some people talk about I Work Alone but Ive never played it so I don't know what it does.
so if Complete is shit, which mod should I be using?
For Call of Pripyat.
If it's your first run, nothing.
If you've already completed the game, then I see no reason to why you shouldn't use Complete or any mod you wish. Complete just won't change the experience too much, so if you want it to feel more fresh you could try Redux for realism and survival, I Work Alone for survival, and SGM for more missions, weapons etc.
So what's the most hard boiled hard core balls to the wall stalker mod there ever was?
So what's the most hard boiled hard core balls to the wall stalker mod there ever was?
The Soup
Vanilla.
Vanilla.
This.
I'm actually kind of insulted that everyone just assumes it's my first playthrough, when I've finished the first two games twice and CoP once. :v:
But yeah, you can't be blaimed, how could you know.
Redux it is, I think. To me Stalker is about survival more than combat.
