Ah, July? Was hoping for a sooner release
It gets hot in the outfit, it's to cool the important parts.
8 min of gameplay, with German commentary: http://videos.pcgames.de/hdvideo/8222/Torchlight-2-So-spielt-sich-die-Beta From what I understood (my German sucks btw): - the engineer class pets will have unique item slots to fill, with special items; - all pets gather dropped gold; - the universal resources will be life + mana: the berserker (warrior) will use mana instead of rage, to fuel his abilities (pathetic) Overall, an interesting video that depicts some boss battles, engineer with 1h dagger + shield in higher difficulty settings game, fluffy pets, angry mobs. Once again, excuse my pathetic German skills, just watch the video with mute on :P
been playing the TL2 beta a bit... really loving the 2 handed animations theyre so fluid. elite HC difficulty is fucking retarded hard as a fresh berserker though, ill probably make an ember mage to gather some gear first.
Beta? How? :sbahj:

:argh: I didn't know you could get in a beta :smithicide: Oh well, now to hope and wait. . .

I'm in the beta too if you want to play, thegreen16
Just started replaying Torchlight, right now I am fighting the goblins in the lavadungeon. The part before where you have to travel through those small islands with all those huts and creatures is so tedious. That part gets annoying really fast.
Well just got a torch light 2 beta key (Was given one by some one in PC Gamer mag) :D
I wish they would let us pre-order-ers into the beta. Or I dunno, give us early access to the game or something in a month or two? I might still try signing up for it, but this late into development, I doubt I'll get in.
Well, a ton of people on the Runic forums seem to be getting Beta invites today, so maybe there is still hope

Just got into the beta.Going to pre-order soon.

Alright, preordered out of the blue mainly because Diablo 3 seems to have some seriously dumb decisions and because I need something I can pick up and play for a while without need to think. Also the engineer reminds me of Cygnar from Warmachine.
What are the best mods for the original Torchlight?
I also got in the beta. God I wish I had enough spare money to buy it, the game is looking great.
Why the fuck won't they let me into the beta? I preordered a 4pack, dammit. :crying:
Anyone need a copy of the original Torchlight? If so, just PM me or add me on Steam or both, whatever you want. I've got an extra. EDIT: It's gone, gave it to an FPer.
Why the fuck won't they let me into the beta? I preordered a 4pack, dammit. :crying:
Runic had to gain access to email addresses and Valve won't give them out.
Runic had to gain access to email addresses and Valve won't give them out.
Valve should just allow runic to send the beta key to their steam account and give them a notice
As usual I'm late to the party, just made Runic account hoping they'd invite me to beta this weekend. I played first one and I liked it very much, it could get a bit monotone at some parts though. Second one looks more interesting, even if I don't get to try the beta I'm definitely going to buy it when it's out.
Will get this one instead of DRM-blo 3, sad that there are no ragdolls though. Torchlight 1 was great, apart from the lack of diversion.
Interesting bit of news from the site:
Beta Update: Upcoming Weekend Stress Test May 17th, 2012 Hi Everyone! We've been busy squashing bugs and deploying patches - 8, in fact! - since our last update. The Torchlight II beta is going really well, and is nearing its end. But before we go, we're going to do a wide network stress test this weekend! We'll be sending out many more beta codes to those who have already made their Runic Games Account. Haven't signed up yet? Go for it now! Creating your account is always your best chance to receive a beta invite - especially this weekend. The Beta Weekend will start on Friday, May 18th at 11:00am PDT and go until Tuesday, May 22nd at 11:00am PDT. We will be staggering invitations to let participants know they have been chosen, but you will not be able to play until the start of the Beta Weekend on Friday. This is to help stagger downloading of the game client. The beta will end shortly after this last big network test. We are going to get the last information we need for stress testing, and then get back to finishing the game! A longer beta means a longer wait until we can ship, and we are eager to finish Torchlight II and get it in your hands. Thanks to all our fans who've supported us, participated in, and promoted the beta. It's incredibly fulfilling to see you guys play the game and enjoy it as much as we do.
tl;dr They're going to give out a lot of beta keys this weekend, and the full release is coming "soon" I think it's a little weird how they don't just do a 100% open stress test like Diablo 3 had, but I guess they just aren't expecting as many users as Diablo 3 got. Also I found it weird how Blizzard did their stress test, saw (presumably) that lots of people had login problems and other issues, then took that data and did absolutely nothing between the beta and the release. You'd think they would have used their findings to ensure that those same problems don't re-occur on the official release. ALSO it seems weird to me that they want to stagger the invites for this weekend. You'd think it would be a better test if they just release the floodgates all at once.
My experience with business people in general is that some of them get their forecast and then make plans based on the minimum expected demand. I think this is what Blizzard did, they must have been told "You'll have between X million to X+ million people logging in on the first day" then the suits said "Great, we only need to handle X million then!". They get away with it because Diablo III. The Torchlight people are in another category, they know they can't afford the kind of mess Blizzard can shrug off.
ALSO it seems weird to me that they want to stagger the invites for this weekend. You'd think it would be a better test if they just release the floodgates all at once.
They don't want to stress test their download server, just the playing network. I imagine the vast majority of their customers will buy via Steam, so providing release-day download capacity isn't their problem.
So I'm in the game and I have to log in to play, where do I find out my name/pass? it isn't my runic one
So I'm in the game and I have to log in to play, where do I find out my name/pass? it isn't my runic one
It should be the one you can login to https://secure.runicgames.com with. Not the forum. [editline]19th May 2012[/editline] If you don't have that already, create an account at that address and then register your beta key under "product keys" or "edit account settings", something like that.
