I played even when population was low, and there was always multiple servers with plenty of people playing and the game is only getting more popular over time.
I've always had an issue in Chivalry where the console would open unexpectedly while I was fighting someone, which would cause me to be unable to move or attack, leading to my instant death. :(
I don't know if it's an issue with my mouse, or what but I guess if I click the middle button, it opens the console. Never figured out how to disable it though.

Yes it uses GFWL, but I believe you can play without it with xliveless.
For people curious about Dark Souls (vote for it):
GFWL isn't that bad, at least with Dark Souls
The port is perfectly fine, you can patch it to your correct resolution and 60 fps
A controller isn't required
The game is a fucking steal at £5, I have like 250 hours in it

I just gave up because the gfwl decided my saves were no longer good and stopped acknowledging their existence.

If simple things like correct resolution and a framerate not capped at headache-inducing levels aren't there by default - the port is not good.

It plays [I]better[/I] than Simcity, at least, the new one. It's basically what Simcity 2013 should have been, but on a smaller scale.

- I've never had any major problems with GFWL
- I play at 30 fps because my computer is a tad shit and it doesn't affect me or gameplay at all. If you can make the game work how you want it to, with the correct resolution and fps, what's the problem? From Software never intended to develop the game for PC
- Everyone in the Dark Souls thread who plays with keyboard and mouse says it's perfectly fine
