Don't play it because of the ranks, play it because it's fun. The ranking up portion is only to unlock cosmetic items, which really, you don't even care about later on.
My only goals are to get the EVA helmet and gold visor. Aside from that, I don't care.

Yeah, I usually do, but I have no one else to play with (Black Ops :argh:) so I usually just play to get new armor. Which I realize is not exactly the best reason to play.
My copy of Halo Reach is crapping out on me, I've searched the web for others having my problem but I haven't been able to find any.
In matchmaking, I can only play games in the Noble map pack playlist, but not in any of the others. If I try, it tells me "One or more players do not have the maps required to play in this playlist". I found out this happens for everything else too: I can only select the DLC maps in custom games, I can only see saved theater movies of the DLC maps, and if I try to play campaign, a flashing bit of text reads: "The current map is unavailable. Please select a different map." If I try to go to the mission selection, I just get an empty menu.
It's like the game can recognize the DLC maps on the hard drive, but not the default maps on the disc itself. But the disc isn't dirty or scratched at all. Is my 360 not reading the disc right? Or is it just a glitch?

try deleting the dlc and trying.

Might want to try installing the game to your hard drive. Usually that'll tell you if something's wonky with the disk. If it installs properly, try working from there. Like TK said, try deleting the DLC and re-downloading it.

Thanks for the help. Deleting the DLC didn't seem to do anything, I'll try installing it on the HD in the morning.
