No, but the colour and helmet tells you what rank they are. The higher their rank, the more dangerous.

You'll only face Field Marshalls, Zealots, Generals, Spec Ops, Rangers, Ultras, Majors (Officers), and Minors in Reach however.

In Halo its called Slayer and Team Slayer.
Slayer is free for all, first to 25 wins.
Team Slayer is self explanitory, first to 50 wins.

You should try big team battle first.
I find that people who are new to the Halo games love big team battle.
That's probably because of the vehicle action and that fact the team is so big that you don't have to do too well for your team to win.

Not a Bungie employee, just a dude who found out a glitch and decided to make another account( this one) to prove that it was really easy to do. He didn't show people how to do it though, and just wants Bungie to adress it. Seems like a pretty cool guy, not exploiting something like this (*cough*challengeresetters*cough*)
I wouldn't want to do it, but it would be interesting to find out how he did it after it is fixed.
