There was nothing wrong with RCT3 at all. It's RCT2 plus more coasters, features and a deeper management system and a optional 3D camera. All you who call it a shitty game either A: Looked at it, saw the graphics and said "SHIITE!!" or B: Never played it and are going off the opinions of group A.
:frog: The 3D camera is good for screenshots, it just gets in the way otherwise. Most of their other new features were things that nobody cared about, which is why nobody's mentioning them. Management has very little or no more depth in RCT3 than it does in RCT2. Plus, the graphic style is so different that RCT3 could have very well passed as an entirely new series. But most importantly, they majorly fucked up the landscaping and only gave the player mediocre scenery to work with. It's more than just ugly graphics, in RCT3 Your parks were basically just a ground to put rides and a few buildings on. RCT2 allowed for some very elaborate buildings, scenery, and landscapes that allowed for much more creativity. The fact that there are more roller coasters, most of which are little more than just reskins, cannot make up for that.
I got both #2 and #3 at a book fair, a few years apart. I liked 3 the best. Almost every difference was awesome IMO. 'Specially the 3D and the ability to ride the coasters. I just don't like how they removed some of the default coasters/decorations from #2.
I like the Water Park add on for 3, I made really complex Water Parks that had Pools as big as the fucking map. And some of the water slides would not have ends that landed in the pool, but shot them across the map into a very small hole or something. Fuck, I am gonna go find my old RCT 1, 2, and 3 Platinum Discs.
first person wiping up puke :v:
If it does, you're way too hung up on graphics.
No, I'm not. I'm the last person you'd see complain about poor graphics. This isn't about poor graphics, this is about poor style. Like it or not the cartoony style they chose to go with for RCT3 has been universally accepted as being le shite. And graphics do matter, by the way. Would you rather play a game that's an 8bit mess of poorly chosen colors or a game with Crysis-level graphics if the gameplay is the same?
I still have the 2 and just played it few weeks ago.
A sort of pseudo-isometric view would be awesome, kind of like company of heroes.
3 was quite good, the graphics were pretty dumb but you could make AWESOME themed parks and all kinds of good stuff, with the expansions even water and animals and fireworks, fucking make your own fireworks spectacles, yet you still call 3 shit? You're all suffering a bad case of nostalgia, 2 was awesome indeed, I loved it too and I played the hell out of it when I was younger, but 3 is clearly a step in the right direction. Just remove the childish graphics (tho honestly, they even added personality) fix the thing a little bit and the camera, what's the point on the isometric camera? Don't you love to be able to freely move around with your camera from different angles? (maybe I remember wrong from rc3) I don't think isometric would work well with a game like this, it's not 2D anymore, and I like to explore my park and check every corner and decorate it. Making rollercoasters wasn't the fun for me, the fun for me was to make the park and the game was quite effective in that. That's how I see it
Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 "remake" please.
I'd buy it as long as it has something to offer besides updated graphics. Something like 3x the amount of content for themes.
After reading the first page I thought I was the only person in the entire world who genuinely loved RCT3. Thank you Page Two.
I would love non cartoony 3D graphics.
Me too. I hope they do it. :3
Meh the last one sucked dick. In fact none of them were ever that good.
Forgive him father, he knows not what he has done.
I'd love it if 4 was a mixture of RCT1 and 2. And I'd love them forever if they went back to the traditional isometric style of 1 & 2, They'd be able to put in a godly amount of rides, stalls and themes and at least 10,000 campaigns Also I bloody loved RCT 2, but my only problem with it was the lack of unlockable campaigns, which kinda took out a good few days of me playing it non-stop.
Now for SimCity 5.
RCT 4 in the same style as in RCT 1+2, but in 3D with nice particles, not the lousy 3D graphics. And i want to fully manage my park. Like you can choose on what time the park is closing down. Besides that a sort of "Visit" mode where you can stream/download other users maps and you can walk around them and visit the rides.
: O OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG !!!!!!!!111!!!!!11111!ONEONE!11!111111!!!!11! ARE YOU ****ING SERIOUS?!!?!?!? OMG OMG OMG!!!!11!11111!! YES YES YES YES YES YES!!! OMFG!!! I WILL BE WAITING IN LINE FOR IT!! AHHH!!!1 YES!!!!!!1!!!! (SCREAMS LIKE A JUSTIN BEIBER FAN GIRL) ...ahem... sorry, kinda lost it there... great news! 1. realism! 2. smoother 3. realistic scenery + stations!!!!
:colbert:
Fuck yeah time to build a death-trap
i thought that was a given...
I want 3d graphics, but I want them to be serious and look good. No more cartoony bullshit. Also make the actual gameplay more serious. I want it to have some real tycoon events, like serious injuries, death, employee strikes and so on. As much as I liked the isometric style, I would still prefer realistic 3d graphics.
1 was the best, 3 was the worst.
They need to add good graphics. Going back to isometric would be a huge step backwards.
They need to add good graphics. Going back to isometric would be a huge step backwards.
Agreed. Again, I did like isometric, but it's a bit outdated. Are you guys honestly saying that you wouldn't like realistic 3d graphics?
I hope you can turn yourself into a human and ride the rollercoasters :3
Agreed. Again, I did like isometric, but it's a bit outdated. Are you guys honestly saying that you wouldn't like realistic 3d graphics?
I wouldn't want it to be too realistic, or it wont be fun to play. Graphic wise, I'd like to live in the past and have the graphic style of 1 & 2, but allowing a full 3D camera.
I wouldn't want it to be too realistic, or it wont be fun to play. Graphic wise, I'd like to live in the past and have the graphic style of 1 & 2, but allowing a full 3D camera.
I just meant graphics more realistic than those in rollercoaster tycoon 3.
They need to make the actual gameplay isometric like RCT and RCT2, but offer the player the ability to break away from the gameplay and look around with a 3D camera. Also go back to the classic style of landscaping cause RCT3's landscaping system was a bitch.
FUN FACT: RCT3 had an isometric camera option. I played most of the game in it. [editline]04:13PM[/editline] Needs to have the park mangement systems of RCT with the rollercoater customizationability of NoLimits
Maybe they should just add an isometric mode which you have to enable yourself, like in RCT3. I prefer 3D to isometric, I like to be able to fly around my creations.
Needs to have the park mangement systems of RCT with the rollercoater customizationability of NoLimits
This is so true. I would definitely buy it if it was like that.
I'm willing to bet that those of you who say you'd rather have isometric again would be the first to complain how restrictive it is. Either that or you're all just saying that to give yourself the image of being an old school gamer just because you played the originals. I loved all 3 equally and think isometric only would make it less popular. However I do agree that they need to make the style a little more mature.
I never played 1, only 2 and 3. Loved 2, 3 wasn't that good, but not bad. Is 1 really all that good?
RCT1 had similar if not the same graphics as number 2, if I remember correctly. I actually liked 3 a lot, but I felt it strayed too far away from the originals. The level of customization in it was awesome. It was easier to make parks that had a theme to it. I think that it should definitely have an option for isometric view, whilst keeping the same 3D style. I wouldn't mind if they made it a bit cartoony. I mean, it's a Tycoon game. How can it not be cartoony?
