Diamond/Pearls slightly different plot and post-game content, both worse than platinums.

Platinum is Pearl + Diamond combined and then improved on even further, if you get any one of those then give up pokemon forever.

Gen 5 has only Gen 5 pokemon until you beat the story
even then it isn't hard to familiarize with them, you don't [i]need[/i] to know everything about gen 4
it's not like skipping a gen will completely fucking bewilder you and make the game unplayable

Surely the only move it learns which benefits from no guard would be megahorn, and that's by breeding so I'm not sure if dream world abilitys get passed down by that. Oh Focus blast too I suppose. or against a sand veil'er

1) Depends on what you want really.

Here is what makes the two different, in black you get Reshiram and some exclusives as well as Black city.
2) Once you transfer them over to B/W you can't send them back to either HG or SS.

Black is better. Black City is far more useful than White Forest, with it's useless bug pokemon.

Well I was thinking back to the old days of trading from Blue to Gold. You could do it in reverse, providing the pokemon was 1)Not new to the older generation and 2)Didn't have any new moves or items. I was hoping you could with these but meh, I'll do without.
