Keep the Grass Monkey, it will be useful for Clay's gym.
Also keep Lillipup. His final form (Stoutland) may not be extremely memorable, but it has a pretty good base Attack. Also, there are some Fighting Pokémon, Sawk and Timburr, outside Pinwheel Forest. Those will really help against that Gym, and they're decent Pokémon regardless.

Now that I think about it, just about ALL gyms are stationed next to a Pokémon location that will fuck them up.
The first has those monkeys, second Timburr/Sawk/Throh, third has Roggenrola, etc.
Skyla's town is situated right next to Chargestone Cave, for fuck's sake.

Clay is next to Vanillite, and Burgh has Darumaka

Remember the good old days when all you had was a Pikachu that was about as effective against Rock types as fire in space. The only Pokemon that could effectively take him out was Mankey, but how many people knew you could get one along a path you can't fully go down yet. It took me a couple play throughs to realize they were there (I always assumed they were the shitty Rattatas and Pidgeys I had already caught).

I used a Butterfree against Brock.
[editline]27th March 2011[/editline]
But not before training my Pikachu up to Thunderbolt because I was a kid and the anime lied to me.
420 choose Bulbasaur all day erryday
I overleveled my Pikachu and tackled him to death.
Same, except I used Quick Attack. That, and a Butterfree.

Wait a second, did they introduce Critical Throws in this gen? I just threw a Dusk Ball, it made a different sound effect (both the throwing and all other) and then caught that Ferroseed after only one shake.
I used to power level my Rattata to Raticate and Pidgey to Pidgeotto. Gust proves very helpful.

Yes. Yes they did.

I'm interested in a Murkrow. Are you giving them away freely?
I'd love a growlithe or a tyrogue. But pretty much for free.
[editline]27th March 2011[/editline]
I think I have one extra murkrow right now, but i've got 3+ larvestas
I can't get either of those just yet unfortunately. I started yesterday of course.
fuck i love arbok
Ferrothorn seems kind of overpowered.
Not really. Just hit it with HP fire.

Not to brag, but in Pokemon Yellow my Pikachu was shit against Brock's Pokemon. So, I caught a Pidgey, raised it to Lv23(ENDLESS GRINDING, I was only like 7 then). I then fought and beat Brock. WITH A FUCKIN' PIDGEOTO. And I used it throughout the entire game, by end game when I went up against Mewtwo, my Pidgeot was Lv83. Pikachu? Lv15.

Pokemon Yellow. First Gym.
mankey
Pokemon Yellow. First Gym.
there were Mankeys nearby that you could use to slap Brock's shit
Pokemon Yellow. First Gym.
Mankey: Low Kick, Karate Chop
Butterfree: Sleeping Powder
Pidgey: Gust, Sand Attack
Butterfree also knows confusion very early on

Really? I normally got a Nidoran and waited for it to learn Double Kick.
THERES SO MANY CHOICESc
I'm standing in front of Kyurem right now. I'll use 9 ultra balls, 2 dusk balls, and my master ball in that order. If I have to rely on using my master ball, should I reset or keep it like that?
