So, instead of letting people we can trust in, we should let everyone in and pretty much make it 100 % sure that it will be filled with griefers? YOUR LOGIC IS INCREDIBLE. Besides, the admins can't be on the server all the time, and even with admins on all the time , controlling griefing is fucking hard.

I'm pretty sure nothing an admin can do could stop people from griefing without ruining the experience of the legit players.
I got the link working. i found custom wolfenstien texture remakes.
If you have a brain, you would take measures to prevent griefing before you even start a server, which they have released and work.
The only way you can really grief is by using Tnt, or lava, or the flint and steel; which all have mods to disable.
If putting a wooden block in your house where it doesn't belond is "griefing" then you're just a baby.

Yea, a whitelist is one of those measures.
having someone PM you on facepunch means that you can't get in if
1. You don't have an FP account.
2. If you're just looking for a quick server to grief, you're probably not going take the time to register and account, gather up a bunch of posts, change your avatar and pm every server host.
I know plenty of amazing players without FP accounts. FP isn't an online portfolio of responsibility.

How often do you play smp? How many hours are you away from your stuff in the servers that other people could be tearing down with tools?

I have a 24/7 public city build server and steam community, that has never been griefed, and can't, because it's not hard to set up a decent server.

I never said anything about anyones server, I'm talking about the term and idea behind "Whitelist"
In a lot of other situations, even and especially IRL situations, I can understand.
But if you just accept anyone anyways, or everyone, what the fuck is the point? To seem sooo deep because you can set up a css email application?

People call it a whitelist because it is a whitelist, what else are you supposed to call the actual list of people allowed on the server?
List of people allowed on server = private server. Which is what I said in the beginning.
and the people on are called, "players".
