You need something in it for it to work, it doesn't work until there is something in it to smelt.

Well, I finally got things to work. I won't do the complete time test, and if it smelts 64 blocks, then that means it lasts about 10 minutes and 40 seconds, compared to coal which smelts 8, so lava is 8 times as effective as coal. 8 coals = 3 iron. It's definitely worth it.
!! If it does smelt for that long, it lasts 21 minutes and 20 seconds, and is 16 times as effective as iron! 16 coals = 3 iron. Never waste coal again.
Hangovers is still down :saddowns:

I find so much bloody coal anyway so i rather waste coal than iron.

Well...we know it takes around 20 minutes for a furnace to use up a bucket of lava, but if we save and exit then load again...The fuel restarts! Infinite fuel from 3 iron and lava.

now, we really are playing smp.
First it feeled like an weird creative mode, with infinitif blocks and stuff, but now, all that has been made is from stuff found in the world (well, almost all, atleast way less hacking before(its still possible, tough))

That's fucking awesome. Though I bet Notch will nerf it, but now we have infinite fuel. That is, for now.
