I was already diagnosed wtih ADHD, and I don't want to take medication, I'm fine without it.

They're listing signs, not consequences. The exact signs in the diagnostic criteria are put there for a reason - because these are the easiest ones to notice. Things like 'lagging emotional development' or 'reduced dopamine levels' aren't put in the sign list because they're not very easy to notice.

uh... observed diagnostic criteria ARE consequences of the disorder. Thats how we know the disorder exists. We diagnose by observing the consequences of the disorder.

It's a [b]sign[/b] list. It's supposed to have consequences of the disorder which are the easiest ones to notice, but not include all consequences of the disorder, therefore it's a list of signs but not consequences, even though sgns belong to consequences.

It has all the diagnostic criteria. Any criteria beyond those outlined in the DSM-IV criteria are unrelated to ADHD

Thats because that's a chemical imbalance that's part of the condition, and not an observed behavioral consequence of the disorder. DSM-IV outlines the BEHAVIORAL EFFECTS of disorders.
