Look again and compare minecraft with this image.
It's a render with, like the above posted, photoshoped GUI.
I still know it's quite possible to make some sort of "Minecraft graphics client" that was designed to integrate with the normal Minecraft.exe and be able to make the game look like that, but nobody would ever make it due to laziness/difficulty to code.
Either that or someone has made something similar and is being a douche by not releasing it.

Of course it is, but modern (and some old) engines are capable of rendering things like that.
See Oblivion with OBGE SSAO, Colormood, Coloreffects and Godrays enabled.
And CryEngine 3, coming out this year, I think. (There's been demos on real time light bleeding and HBAO/SSAO.)

Retoasting from Profans thread, me and Marbs went digging (we started near the city, to the left on the first image) And we got bored and decided to dig up, little did we know we were in the middle of nowhere. Instead of /warping back we thought it would be a fun little adventure to walk. We headed for high ground to see if we could see the city, but we couldn't. We walked in the general direction of the city (we didn't know this yet) And found a village, and just about a mile further than that village was the city. We went on a wild adventure along the coastlines, following torches that other Minecrafters had set. We didn't find our way home.
To the left is Punchopolis, and you can see a little further right the village that we went to. To the right is the floating island I put torches on as an SOS. The wiggly line represents the path we took to get back (after looking over this line, it's wrong, but i cba to make another pic).

So is anybody like me right now? I kind of just stopped playing Minecraft. I feel like while Notch is in the US (of course he's on the west coast, damn it) there isn't development happening (which is true) and that I just should play other games. I haven't even opened up my client in like a week. Has anybody else sort of mellowed their way out of MC until beta comes 'round?

I guess he's saying that he's bored when there isn't a new update.
I don't feel that way though, Friday updates are fun but I love building things. I feel like there is limitless things to build and not enough time, I can't see myself getting bored of Minecraft for some time (Hell I played [I]creative[/I] every day for more than a month before I got alpha :v:)

I haven't really touched minecraft in a couple of weeks either. Waiting for something interesting to get implemented.
Also, once I lose touch with MP servers it's hard to get back in with them...

:dance: Yay! Got my first "fan". That destroyed a few of my windows and placed pig spawners in my garden.
I had the creepiest glitch today after reading the minecraft creepypasta. I joined a server and there was one other player so I teleported over to him to see what was going on. I teleport and see no one, suddenly blocks start floating to me from across the room.
Then I noticed that blocks were being destroyed. Turns out my game was glitching so hard the guy was not only invisible his name didn't even appear, it was freaky trying to keep track of him.
I feel so :smug:, i mined a shite load of iron, then ran for about 30 minutes to the west. found a mountain, and built a small "town".
Made my iron into blocks and stored it under my house.
Chilblain also made a sexy house on a mountain nearby.
Will post pics soon.
