I'll be at my sisters for a few days next week, I'll keep my server up during then but I wont be on to overlook it, so I've made a few people on my game trainee ops, I wonder who got picked.
I'm sure when Notch returns from his "vacation" as you're all calling it he'll get right back to work. There's really no need to whine about him being away from his computer for more than an hour, we've gone a month and a half without any form of update before and there was way less "update withdrawl" back then.

At this point I'm pretty sure Notch should not have started the seecret friday updates ooooOOOOooo, because all they did was serve to create more opportunities for people to whine about him not updating. He probably should have just stuck to his own schedule like he had been.
so after a year this game has become boring for me, what should i do to reverse that?

I can only imagine creepers in MP.
The line of "I didn't know he was following me" will be brought up tons.
I feel like explosion holes will dot the landscape and the cities.
Anyone have advice on finding iron? I rarely come across it and when I two its only like 3 bricks. Is it more common at a specific depth?
Well then there would be a good use to defend your city with walls and lots of torches inside (to secure the area from internal spawning) I think it would be a good thing and awesome!

I feel like the dungeon I'm in will never end :/. I've been running around killing things for like 2 hours now and it feels like I'll never finish it :/. I do have to find the cage thingy and destroy it, right?

You aren't in a dungeon, you're in a cave. Right now at least, dungeons are just small square rooms with chests and a mob spawner in them. If you want the enemies to stop spawning, light up all of the dark places, and destroy any mob spawners if you find them.

I've been lighting as I go, and blocking the lava so I don't accidentally die. I guess it'll eventually end so I can start mining everything

No, caves lead to dungeons on occasion. You might have to find them yourself.
