My friend is going to be buying me and him a copy of the Alpha tomorrow, is the Alpha giftable or does it come in a code format (Think Humble Bundle Pack)?
I assume you get a code to redeem on Steam. also shit fuck piss gotta make an arma 3 op brb
also shit fuck piss gotta make an arma 3 op brb
I was about to ask who was doing that.
i hope warfare is one of the two vanilla modes, i miss it so much and can never find a server for it on arma 2
i hope warfare is one of the two vanilla modes, i miss it so much and can never find a server for it on arma 2
it needs polish... and a a way for it to be fun with limited amounts of players. Setting up an artillery battery somewhere far in the woods with supply trucks and fortifications is damn fun, but pointless if there's no one to fight.
Anyone know how to downgrade a mission? For example, I added custom units we used to play with. But we decided to roll back our addons to the bare basics so I downloaded the old addons, opened the mission, deleted those custom units and saved it but it'll still say "Dependent on download content etc. etc." Anyway to completely revert the map or something? At the very least any way to just copy and paste units into a template or bin or something so I can remake the map somewhere else?

You can merge missions but tbh I have no idea what you're asking in the second question.

I just deleted all content from previous addons, copied everything on the map, hit clear, pasted it and saved it under a new mission name. But as for the second question, I meant if I could for example build a FOB and than 'save' it so that I can make an entirely new mission like two days later and paste it into the new map/mission. It's not as important now.

It'll move all the items from the prefab mission into yours and you'll be a happy camper if you plan to make large bases.
Have any of you tried that "Play with Six" that's supposed to replace SixUpdater? I just couldn't figure out how to do anything with it, so I uninstalled it and installed SixUpdater. Just wondering if anybody had a better experience with it than I did.
Word on the street that GameSpy, that fucks that run the servers for ArmA2 are shutting down or some shit. Dunno what we'll do now or if it'll be fixed.
Uh, that's completely false.

Due to the earlier tank battle game in Capraia, I did some testing with T90As against various variants of the Abrams. Differences between different Abrams models: Thermals: M1A1: Gunner; M1A1 TUSK: Gunner, Loader; M1A2 TUSK: Gunner, Loader, Commander None of the variants have thermals for drivers. Both TUSK variants have reactive armor plating added to hull's sides, increasing survivability against HEAT rounds, rockets and missiles. All variants carry 120mm depleted uranium APFSDS-T rounds and HEAT rounds, with M1A2 additionally carrying canister shells. T90 and A carry 125mm APFSDS-T rounds, HEAT rounds and 9M119 Refleks beam-riding ATGM missiles. Both variants have thermals only for gunner. Testing was done with a T90A facing 4 M1A1s, 4 M1A1 TUSKs and 4 M1A2 TUSKs. APFSDS-T proved to be most T90s reliable way to engage enemy Abrams variants. 1/12 frontal turret hits disabled the Abrams, with 2/12 frontal hull hits disabling the tank. 5/12 central side hull hits disabled the tank (with no apparent difference between the variants), and 12/12 engine compartment hits ignited or destroyed the Abrams immediately. Refleks missiles proved to be decent at disabling default Abrams variant but proved to be inefficient in neutralizing newer variants as. 0/12 frontal turret hits disabled the Abrams and 1/12 frontal hull hits disabled. 4/12 side hull hits caused disability and 5/12 engine compartment hits ignited or destroyed the tank. 4 hits from both groups were on M1A1 variant, with one engine compartment hit on M1A1 TUSK causing fire. HEAT rounds were incapable of penetrating any of the M1A1 variants. As Abrams variants carry same ammo, testing was done with M1A1 against 6 T90s and 6 T90As. APFSDS-T rounds proved to be highly effective against T90s, with 2/12 turret hits causing immediate destruction and 6/12 hits disabling the tank. 6 hits that did not cause damage hit the turret's mantle, which seems to be most armoured part of the T90. Of frontal hull hits, 6/12 disabled the tank and 2/12 caused a fire. 4 hits caused no damage. Of side hull hits, 8/12 caused a disable, with 2/12 destroying the tracks but leaving hull intact. 2/12 shots had no effect. HEAT rounds had varying effects, with mostly no results and as such were not recorded. All testing was done at roughly 800m range from one end of the Utes Airstrip to the other. Testing proved T90As to be in distinct disadvantage against Abrams in head-to-head battle, but less so if either of the vehicles was flanking their target, as this result in high chance of kill. As such, T90As are in disadvantage in missions where both sides must meet on equal ground or OPFOR is attacking. I recommend 1:2 ratio in such missions, or accompanying the OPFOR forces with infantry heavy AT troops armed with man-portable AT systems such as METIS or RPG29s. In missions where OPFOR defends against BLUFOR, T90As may win the battle with ambush tactics. [editline]5th March 2013[/editline] TL;DR: ABRAMS RAPES T90As IN EQUAL COMBAT
Uh, that's completely false.
Since when did gamespy even run the servers for arma 2?
Since when did gamespy even run the servers for arma 2?
Master servers have been always run by Gamespy afaik.
Why didn't anyone post this
They did. In the ARMA 3 thread.

we shoud just have an "arma series" thead there's no reason to have an a2 and a3
we shoud just have an "arma series" thead there's no reason to have an a2 and a3
This thread even has ARMA 3 in the title so
Someone should just request a lock on the other thread. [editline]5th March 2013[/editline] Also we should totally have an alpha game tonight, we could at least play the built-in multiplayer scenarios, whatever they are.

I would normally want it all in the same thread but the fact that a thread only lasts for 1,000 posts is ridiculous and probably the reason I'm holding against it for now. However, if you guys want it locked then go ahead and request a lock that's fine I can copy paste the OP.
I must say trying out alpha was a pleasing experience. Although I did notice that at the server I played TDM on everyone had 20-30 FPS whether it was low or ultra. I've noticed it myself that I do indeed get better details and textures/worse, yet still the framerate stays the same. It seems the optimization will be good in the final product (optimistic). All in all, very pleased with fluidity and new inventory system. It's awesome how you can take enemy's equipment and clothes and disguise yourself in TDM :v: Anyone else figured out how to prone lean?

I set ARMA 3's Performance higher to see how high it can go, and it turns out to go higher than ARMA 2. Also is there any ARMA 3 tonight since Cuel and others were hosting when it got released and I want to play with them now that I have it.

But we should also play some multiplayer some time earlier in the day, I need more Arma 3 and there are like no singleplayer missions around.
I agree. Maybe some time in the afternoon today? Actually, evening is better for me.
Just got the day off from work- a sure sign that I will not receive any help from BI about getting ArmA 3.
No one is posting here because we're all playing ARMA 3.
