Is there a way to automatically disable mods when joining servers that don't have them enabled?
Because that was one of the reasons I stopped playing on Profan's server.
Actually, to all the above (late, now :(.) answers, you can just use Play withSix, honestly it works perfectly for that kind of thing. You'll have to do your own modline if you're going to be doing SP, but all things considered it's alot nicer than Six Updater was.
And it'll be getting proper custom modset support SUPPOSEDLY sometime soon. Which will make it just as technically useful as Six Updater.
Oh pageking I guess, here, have the map from the mission I finished.

Hope we got enough people.
So how many people are playing during the average session anymore?
High res versions of those ST screenshots.

FFS it's still got that blur, and overall it doesn't really look more visually impressive then Arma 2.
But on the other hand I'm perfectly okay with that in the name of not needing a super computer.
The one with the bipod is the Automatic Rifle variant. Because it's ~too futuristic~ for belt fed guns.
To be honest I think the MX actually looks pretty cool though. I love how most of them have AFGs, there hasn't been nearly enough AFG love in games yet.
Truth be told a lot of the replacements the US is looking at for the SAW are magazine fed instead of being belt fed.

I'm pretty sure that's just because it's a screenshot. In none of the ArmA 3 gameplays from BI there was blur.

Fridays about 15-25, saturdays usually have the same people +-5
Is it just me, or does that tank look really close to what the concept looks like for the cancelled Russian T-95 MBT? Except the main gun that is.
It's kind of hard to notice when it's scaled down to a smaller resolution, you can't really notice it in the thumbnails either but it's there.

How do you know that? I put the Gamestar commentary shit with Jay Crowe on full screen, highest resolution, and I'm not seeing any blur.

Whops, mixed them up.
"When you start toying around in the editor, you’re able to further explore the new features. Come up with new types of scenarios using SCUBA diving, get creative with anti-personnel mines or simply drop in two opposing squads of infantry someplace new on the island. A combat engagement can play out differently each time, but is now enhanced by a much-refined radio protocol and better responsiveness of the character movement." From the RPS interview, does this mean we get a new radio system ? :D
Probably nothing like ACRE if that's what you're thinking.
They probably mean the menus you use to communicate with AI teammates and order them around have been changed.

Check out the lightpole on the left in the second picture and feast your eyes on the shitty arma blur, not to mention the dude on the right.

The unit detail is manifold, the lightning is improved, the environmental textures might be higher detail (check out the floor tiles on the first picture, the ground etcetera).
Couldn't that blur be removed in arma 2 anyway by turning off post processing completely?
I'm just excited about ragdolls and better AI. I am easily pleased.

How do you make those highlighted roads and 'lined zones'?

Like I said, that is a posed and somewhat edited screenshot.
So far this ARMAlympics video is about 35 minutes ha. Gonna cut out a lot of the dirty bike race because nothing is really going on there that's worth looking at. Unless you like watching small dots on the ground moving.
Also, I need everyone who was in the event to Steam message me or PM me on here so that I can include you in the credits. I don't know most of the people who played because I didn't record any pre-game lobby shit.
Mission complete and uploaded to server.
Accurate representation of enemies to friendlies ratio:

Make rectangle markers with desired length and width and copy paste until you have a nice line formation.

^ also copy and pasting the same brush and changing its pattern
Nevermind about messaging me. I got a shot of the lobby when the game ended. Should be rendered out and uploaded by the weekend. Just to confirm, it was the police that won right?
Man, you guys need to chill. I'd get sick of Arma if I had to use the same guns over and over again. It's good the devs are adding some variety to a game I have spent far too many hours on. It would be a disservice if anything that they leave it how it was and just make it look prettier and feel smoother. Without that new content I may as well just be playing Arma 2 with an updated engine and I honestly would rather be able to use some sweet new guns instead. Sure, some of it might not be 'realistic' but I honestly couldn't care less because we've already done the presently realistic route with Arma 2 and somewhat with OA and it's only good to see that the devs are moving forward.
Also, modders.
Those long mags look really dumb.
Why is it assumed that because people are disliking something that they are angry?
chill? Nobody is mad. This isn't the sanius squad, we can discuss something without seething and scouring for posts to unleash our soapbox on.
Its not like I'm not going to buy the game. I didn't buy ArmA 1 for it's dumb sahrani conflict, or even A2 for its dumb but slightly cooler eastern euro conflict.
I just think its silly they went the future route in a game that's supposed to be a simulator. Most of the technology used in the game exists already, but some other things have just been jumped together on the spot, although we havent received confirmation on things like if the gun on that tank is in fact a railgun.
They could've very easily done the base game as a different conflict in present times, it doesn't have to be middle east themed. There's plenty of interesting locales in the world where a modern conflict could take place.
Shit I would've liked to see Bohemia tackle a jungle environment. Simply because they might fucking learn a thing or two about saving resources, somehow every BI made island is a whore for frames yet you can have player made islands with huge amounts of objects (like jungle foliage) that runs 2 x smoother than chernarus.

Shame the shadows look really bad though. I really hope these screenshots are taken on the lowest shadow settings the game allows. It just looks bad when they're jagged like that and still blurred more than they should.
Couldn't that blur be removed in arma 2 anyway by turning off post processing completely?
Yes.
Could also be disabled specifically by editing your profile file.
I haven't played with PP from day 1, I disabled that shit in ArmA 1 as well. I really dont see the appeal of it? Makes the game look unrealistic and chews up a huge amount of frames

In Arma 2 with the shadow settings on normal (The lowest setting that still has real-time shadows for stuff other then the player IIRC) the shadows look like that too, versus on high where they're all crisp, so I'm guessing medium/low-ish settings.

Although it's not meant to be a simulator.
The whole point of ARMA3 is that it isn't the commercialised version of their sim, Like arma 1 and 2. ARMA 3 is for all intents and purposes BI's first arma "Game", it's detailed in most of the vids as the reason to why they are adding in the things that are considered "gimicky" in comparison to their prior stuff.
Audience appeal as well, they know they are going to sell the copies to those that have ARMA2. It's pretty much a given, they know the modding community will output the stuff they are after.
But "Future war" is in right now in terms of gaming so punting out the inital units as semi future tech gives their game an edge on others, same for the underwater combat which isn't going to see much use in most communities but is a cool feature for those looking for just a "Large scale shooter with fancy bits that others don't have".
It all adds up to BI trying to break away from their image of hard, shite controlling sims to a genuine games that can sell to a general audience.
never got a reply on the arma 3 thread so
This is my computer

It should work on lower settings, your specs are slightly better than the minimum requirements
[editline]1st March 2013[/editline]
The best way to find out how well it runs is just asking someone for an alpha invite
