S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Series Megathread: If nobody will make it I will

IT WORKED! Posting from ingame, skycube is gone, foggy cycle is back and better than ever. I guess it was the hi-res sky textures that were fuckin' me over. Oh well, they were lagging me anyways :v:
All the sky textures in Call of pripyat are like that, the skybox is stretched to accommodate the larger levels so in turn it looks lower res.
Its partially fixable by choosing the high-resolution settings in atmosfear, but that increases the loading times a shitload for me.
Just use the noprefetch mod for CoP, it forces noprefetch for most objects. You can easily tweak your own to include sky textures, but only do so if you're willing to say fuck you to your RAM.
Also, high-res atmosfear sky textures in the install are actually broken from the start, you need to copy them from your folder. Unless you already did that, of course.

I'm using the patched for ram exe's, how will my performance be affected if I use the noprefetch mod?
Ha, it's even foggy inside Skadovsk. I don't even :v:
Well, time to take these remote explosives and do a controlled demolition of the bloodsucker lair...

It'll be far better, as much as it seems logical that prefetching should reduce RAM usage, it does the opposite.
Do those patched exe's work well? I've still got some hanging issues.
To be honest I haven't really noticed any difference. But i'm running 64 bit.
DireAvenger, this is the mod you're speaking of, correct?

Yep.
Don't use the EVERYTHING prefetched option, use the basics.
That's the one. It's in the OP now thanks to me :3:

Well, just cleaned out the bloodsuckers. The remote explosive killed about 6 of them, I killed two more with a single shotgun blast, and finished off the last with one more. I am a badass.

Why are they...what...
Duty and Freedom! A truce at last!
Either that or they called a cease-fire to share some good weed.
Poor Freedom guy on the right, he is forever alone.
Oh fuck oh fuck oh fuck an emission just hit and they were still outside.
Quick, loot everything before somebody comes out!
They really need to replace all of the random stalkers with ones that actually have a name. Simple characters with names like Wolfhound, Smartass, Father Diodor and Wolf filled in everything so much and gave a great experience. If they die then a random stalker with a random name spawns but you have a story to tell about them and everyone else who has had that guy relates to it.
Jesus, these people at Yanov sure knows how to greet someone new around.

That happened to me the first time I entered Yanov with Redux.
Some fucking merc in an exo was sitting in the middle of the place and shot me.
My first time I was raped by rats :frown:

I actually laughed out loud at this.
With complete 2009 installed, is there a way to use the default HUD? The new PDA is nice, but the on screen HUD elements aren't very good.
I'd love if anyone could help!
Uh, I did the Atmosfear 2+SGM merge, and now I get this:

I think this happens when the foggy/rainy cycle is supposed to kick in. Other weathers are normal.

SGM mission.
The installer forgets to install all the cloudy/rain/fog textures for me. To fix I just copy+pasta'd those textures from the "data" folder of the AtmosFear installer into the corrisponding gamedata folder.
Does Atmosfear still use "high def" looking textures even when you don't choose high def?
Duty and Freedom should be friends :(
I like both :ohdear:

Nein, Duty mussen verschwinden.

I like the way how freedom works and agree with their visions but they seem to do shit about their visions.
I hate Duty, the Zone is a wonderful gift for the mankind and must be preserved.
If Duty wouldn't exist, this list would happen:
Rostok would be fully occupied by mercenaries, bandits and mutants
Garbage would be completely littered with all kinds of scum
Bandits would have complete control of Garbage, Darkscape, Dark Valley, Agroprom and Rostok due to no faction agressively suppresing them
Yantar would be under partial control by the military and all scientist squads would get raped by zombies and Mercenaries if they would take a single step out of the bunker
Ukranian Military would have to repel nearly all mutants that appear in the Zone at the Cordons due to no inside faction that has numbers and equipment large and good enough to effectively clear out oversized mutant lairs
Duty isn't the nicest faction, but Zone would be a lot worse place if it wasn't formed.
Being a Stalker is about FREEDOM!
:black101:
Freedom have a bad reputation for being lazy potheads but the guys relaxing around the camp aren't the best example, are they? Admittedly Duty patrols constantly and have very little downtime but that doesn't mean Freedom are incompetent. They still do patrols, attack Duty bases, guard the baricade and go about normal business.
Duty has a bad reputation also. The fascism that seems apparent is a level of authoritarian control that is likely needed for a hazardous region like where they are. Their command structure and military efficiency are also perfectly acceptible despite disagreeing with the need for it myself. Although their goal is to fight the zone, mutant killing is an essential job that would either be done by hunters or other loners anyway. They do not do any other major activities in combatting the zone so for the most part it's a benign goal.
