How much VRAM does your card have?
512mb I think. [editline]12:38AM[/editline] Good god this is an automerge nightmare.
Well you have pretty much identical specs to me, and I only memory crash sometimes, and that with SGM on top of everything else. The "basic prefetching only" option is very nice, can cause some hangs but it's better than 2FPS and crashing all the time.
Expression : fatal error Function : out_of_memory_handler File : D:\prog_repository\sources\trunk\xrCore\xrDebugNew.cpp Line : 336 Description : <no expression> Arguments : Out of memory. Memory request: 58611 K :saddowns: I'll try changing the options of it (prefetch mod)
What? You just take the 'gamedata' folder from the "BASIC PREFETCHING" folder in the mod and add it to your own. That's it. If you're still crashing there's nothing to do but not use atmosfear.
Dunno what I downloaded before, but I just did that and cheers! Worked just fine, and I can keep atmosfear :buddy:
Oh cool. [editline]12:57AM[/editline] I didn't like Redux enough to stick with it, but that menu music was grooooovay.
Joe How many toolkits are in SGM Like 2-Basic 2-Fine 2-Calibration Or is there just 1 of each?
So anyway, what's so great about Ceano's mod?
It has the same basic feel as vanilla but everything has been tweaked to be harder. It's a lot harder to make money, you need to actually use artifacts in order to negate anomaly effects, everything's much more deadly, you need to shoot zombies in the head to kill them. I really like the way he did the hud as well, it's the nicest/cleanest hud I've seen yet.
My post was sort of a time warp......
How do I uninstall redux? the thing included wont work.
Delete gamedata folder.......
Delete gamedata folder.......
k thanks
It's great that STALKER seems to have some sort of weird place to store all the game content, it always makes me giggle deleting the gamedata folder knowing that I'm not literally deleting the game's data. Gamedata should be renamed to Modcontent.
gamedata actually DOES store the game files, but it's split up in the .db0 etc files the gamedata folder you see just overrides the vanilla one
gamedata actually DOES store the game files, but it's split up in the .db0 etc files the gamedata folder you see just overrides the vanilla one
That's what I meant, the fact that a gamedata folder does not need to actually be present is partially confusing. But, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. I shouldn't bring things up at late night.
In the next STALKER I'd just want to be able to change the name of my character, "The Marked One" simply isn't doing the trick for me.

I swear, I was just strolling towards the Antenna Complex after an artifact hunt, mindig my own business, when suddenly a whole stampede of those fuckers come out of nowhere and flatten me in five seconds. And they weren't phantoms made by a Psi-dog, either. Oh well, another reason not to go to Krug Antenna Complex, apart from the two Alpha Squad detachments that made an encampment there the first time I decided to raid the spot after clearing the Bloodsucker lair.
So I was hunting the Chimera in CoP and a Flesh came up and clawed the thing to death while it was asleep YOU'RE USELESS, SO DON'T EXPECT TO GET PAID
Does anybody else feel like Pripyat in CoP looks unfinished and really weak compared to the other levels? Pripyat in SoC was amazing, without a doubt my favourite area to go murdering in, it felt like a real, decaying, abandoned city. At night SoC's Pripyat was so cool to walk around, it felt imposing and dangerous, not a collection of buildings with an arbitrary border enclosing them like CoP. It's like they just squeezed it out at the last minute, everything looks too samey, every other area in CoP has a nice amount of variation to distinguish between areas, the Dredge Station looks different to Skadovsk, the Ranger Station looks different to the Waste Processing Plant even though they're all on the same map and in comparatively similar terrain. The locations in Pripyat feel like clones of each other, I wouldn't know whether I'm standing in front of the Hospital or the Apartment complex if you showed me a picture of the two. I know that Soviet architecture conformed to a single building style for the most part but when you've got to continually check your map to make sure you've not walked too far and missed the building you want to explore I feel it starts to get a little tiring. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely fucking love the Stalker series (Clear Sky notwithstanding) I pre-ordered SoC and play the shit out of it to this day. This is just one point that gets my back up. Am I the only one that feels this way?
words
Well, Prypat wasn't that importened to the story anyway, you spend like 1/6 of the game there. Didn't diserve the name, in my opinion. And yeah, I explored the shit out of all areas in CoP, but Prypjat, cause everything looked the same, and there wasn't realy any remakable location. Was a good game nonetheless
It's almost impossible to play CoP with all this load stuttering and such, I'll keep with Shadow of Chernobyl. I remembered with my old system, CoP worked like a charm, a bit stuttering once and then, but still playable. But now it's like, you run for 5m, load stutter, run for 5m, load stutter... System: CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ GPU: GeForce 8600GT 256MB RAM: 2GB Settings on dynamic lighting and mostly everything on middle, sun shadows turned on, grass density to 50%, view distance to 25%, shadow quality on high, pretty much everything like it's suggested on tweakguides(the guide for Clear Sky) and the game runs fine, no lag or such, it's just the load stuttering. Adding -noprefetch to the shortcut doesn't help as well. Also defragmented my harddrive over night. Just for reference: Unreal Tournament 3 runs on high smooth with ~30fps, even GTA IV runs on low/mid with 25fps. And Shadow of Chernobyl runs like a charm with mostly 40fps, with exact the same settings.
I liked Pripyat in CoP. Every time I left the laundromat I became 100% more alerted to everything. It was awesome.
Are there any STALKER books? I saw something about a book series but it was in Russian.
Roadside Picnic :ms:
