And that mission is?
You know the one that goes, "Hey, let's pop over to fen to collect some readings for the science guys."? Except where you start - no matter what - without your NV on, without your flashlight on, without your gun out, right in the middle of twenty Snorks; have to sit for 7 hours waiting for the fade to go out, then another three for the gun cocking animation to play. All the while Snorks slaughter your guys while you helplessly watch. Once in a blue moon when you smear the blood of a black cat on you and swing its dried corpse over your head while reciting the secret incantations of Beelzebub you might have a few guys survive on you, by which time- if you are lucky enough, the shotgun decides it wants to register some hits on some Snorks you might end up with one guy left. Who you then have to defend from every mutant in the zone, including several zombies that literally spawns right on your ass. Like, if you look at the spot, they will pop into existence right there and blow your face off before you can react.
Then when you think it's done and are ready to go they throw another half bajillion mutants at you just to piss you off some more.
Fuck that shit.
Hung about the Cordon for a couple of days, fought off some bandits, killed some mutants, found some artifacts, and opened an assload of stashes.
I went to the Garbage just now. It's fun knocking down bandits with the AK74U, but I have no clue where to sell all the loot I'm getting off of them. Do I have to go all the way back to Sid?
Also, I found the "Think Fast!" job at the beggining of Garbage hilarious. You spawn, and a bandit empties both barrels into your face.
Also, curiously -noprefetch seems to flat out double my performance. What the hell.

That mission was easy, didn't have any of them die, and I played it twice.
You playing vanilla?
How can you not have any of them die? Half of them usually die before you are even given control back from the fucking fade.
Because we usually don't have the bad luck to do it in the middle of the night and to have snorks already there.

Vanilla?
Yes.
I'd say try at another time of day, considering spawns are on time cycles. The ones not related to the missions, of course.
Even so that doesn't excuse spawning zombies inside my ass. Regardless, what kind of missions allows random factors to turn it borderline impossible?

Seriously, if that what just happened to you, would've happened to me, I just would've laughed my ass off and loaded a earlier save.
holy shit.
playin' CS for the first time. bandits got my gear and monies, and I had to kill both of them to get my shit back. goddamn that was hard.

Oh it has them. They're rare and cheap, but they're definitely there.

Use Zulu's PKM. Use it right, and you will have little difficulty mowing them down.
Jellyfish all up in this BITCH
It's kinda funny how all the shitty artifacts in SoC and CS are actually pretty good in CoP. Wrenched, Gravi and Jellyfish were all shit tier in SoC but are actually not bad now.

There aren't really a lot of "shit tier" artifacts in CoP. Just the Crystal, the Stone Blood, and a few others.
Well there is the half formed artifacts that just irradiate you, they're kinda shit.
How you guys like my new avatar
I never understood how in SoC jellyfishes were shity but in CoP they were one of the best artifacts. Also this thread is badly fitted for my timezone :frown:

Oh, that mission in Yanov when you take the readings with the ecologist squad? Yea, that mission can be frustrating at night, try running it up during daytime and also clear up the Ash Heap and the Northern swamp in case if any mutant decided to dick around. It happened to me before so I did the same and managed to beat the mission. Also, about the Zombies... They're coming in from Kopachy Village, you need to find a good sniping spot and shoot them before they come close enough to fill the whole squad with lead. The swamp is a bit easier, I think you'll only get a couple of boars and fleshes, if you're unlucky a bloodsucker or a snork might come at you.
When I was at swamp a group of zombies spawned right at us. No casualties on our side though. I never lost a single dude in that group.
A couple of expert Freedomers came to the swamp to hunt artifacts so they also provided extra protection.
But that mission ain't hard at all, you know the mission when you have to place a scanner in that gravitational burner anomaly North-West of Jupiter plant? When you place the scanner, about 10-20 snorks jump at you from the cliffs. They're easy to take out if you go on an elevated position or to the Northern part of the anomaly cluster.
Bought CoP, it freezes when I start a new game. :saddowns:
Running on Windows 7.

Did you try letting it load?
Also post a crashlog, it should be in your documents and stalker cop. Search around for it. (Don't post the entire thing though, just the stuff at bottom that would show error)
Add a list of useful mods to the op for us noobs.
