Probably because they got fucked over after SoC and are now seriously regretting being dicks to STALKERs who are now the dominant group in the zone in CoP
In SoC, they're either Grunts defending a position, already engaged in combat when you show up or Spetsnaz who shoot anyone they see. In CoP, everythings gone to hell and they might as well just be normal stalkers. While they are part of a military Unit, they fight. While they are on their own, they are nice.
Kovalsky's group is Spetsnaz too.
No he's not, all of them are just normal Military. They call in the Spetsnaz to fix everything and [sp]at the end command gets handed over to the USS and the commanding Spetsnaz officer is Degtyarev so he controls everything.[/sp]
Well, it certainly helps out that you are part of the military in CoP.
I expected the military squad in CoP to have their heads very deep up their ass and act as douchebags to everyone except Degtyarev, but they turned out to be preety cool guys.
Yea, in CoP they're all like "Oh god we're so stranded oh God we're gonna die, please help us!" and in every other game they're all like "Baaah we're infinetly superior and you all deserve to die because you broke da lau :black101:"
Stop shortening words :ohdear: I don't want you to catch goldmemberitus! [editline]08:54AM[/editline]
Well, it certainly helps out that you are part of the military in CoP.
No offense, but some gold members start thinking they are kings and don't give a shit about grammar. You're different though.

I guess that makes more sense for them to be regular soldiers, but Degtyrev is a military stalker.
Stop shortening words :ohdear: I don't want you to catch goldmemberitus!
I was imitating Stallone's "Da lau" in Judge Dredd. Guys like Ice and Tasarov are out of their league and they also used to be stalkers, which wouldn't make sense if they're just regular grunts that you see in the Cordon. Besides, they were meant to take the CNPP by themselves in Operation Fairway, and I doubt that you'd send five squads of regulars and rookies to take over the most uncharted place in the Zone.
Plus they're not going to send people who're not experienced with the zone to the NPP now, are they?
They did before.
Yes but that time NOBODY CAME BACK OUT ALIVE. That and they also got vital information about how to get an upper hand in controlling the Zone via [sp]Strelok[/sp] and Degtyarev's trip to X8, which means that you could call their mission a partial sucess, unlike the first raid into the Zone and the incredible failure that was Operation Monolith in SoC.

It's just I wrote an Essay for English and now I'm in the mood to be a Grammar Nazi :frown:

Fuck this shit I'm looking up where the rest of the tools are.
wtf dont h8 or w/e i c u l8r homies ttyl
This post caused me physical pain.
I know most of you guys don't care, but i just ran my first session of a D20 Modern campaign set in the Zone...I had my players do the mission to save Nimble, in SoC, Just to see how it would turn out. It was awesome...

Not all of them though, some of them became part of Duty.
I already knew that they died. Not all of them though, some of them became part of Duty.
So everyone defected or died, they'd catch on that it'd be a bad idea to do it again.
At the CoP ending [sp]Streloks just walked in like some fucking badass, he just came and well that was really surprising.[/sp]
So everyone defected or died, they'd catch on that it'd be a bad idea to do it again.
I never said that they would send inexperienced soldiers again. All I said was something about regular army. Regular Army=Inexperienced suddenly?
I'm just gonna leave this here. Motherfucker put up a hell of a fight. In the Pripyat Underground, he took out Vano and Zulu seemingly by himself after ambushing us from activating the generator. He dodged three shots from my SVD by ducking behind the containers, but I finally nailed him.

[editline]05:55AM[/editline]
No, but regular soldiers aren't stalkers.
What the hell? What are you talking about? Where are you getting the stalkers thing from? We are talking about Kovalsky's group.

Don't forget that along with the five squads they had five attack choppers to go with them. I also don't think their main goal was to completely take the CNPP completely, but to just lead an offensive and do a fair bit of damage to the Monolith and Stalkers there. They've had several offensives like this including the one [sp]shortly after Marked One turned off the Brain Scorcher[/sp] which wasn't really a coordinated offensive but a quick reaction. Fairway was a lot more organised but still failed due to a small error in their knowledge of anomalies.
They're all military stalkers, aren't they?
They're all military stalkers, aren't they?
Nope, just Degtyrev.
Whoops.
Well Sokolov became also a stalker, kind of.
Newbie help, yay! So, I'm in SoC, and I did the first mission, where you find Nimble. Now I'm doing the one after that, where you have to through some tunnel. How do I get through? When I try to run through, the eletricity kills me fast, and I can't go over. What do?
