S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Series Megathread: If nobody will make it I will

You have 3 options. There is a safe way to get through the electricity if you watch where it doesn't shock and possibly (I haven't tested it) during the recharge time after you throw a bolt. Another option is to go to the military checkpoint and pay them a few hundred rubles. It's cheap and easy so a good option for most people.
The third option is to go to the far right and there should be a hole in the fence where you can cross. If you go even further there is a radioactive train car where there are some artifacts but you will probably die from something so it's best to just avoid it and cross earlier.
Haven't played stalkers for a while. Are there any good mods for pripyat?
Sigerious mod adds a fuckload of stuff and is good fun. Redux 1.0 is coming out in a few days so that should be good too.
I just realized how much I love STALKER.....

How do I get close enough to pay the soldiers? Everytime I get near them, they shoot me.

Keep your weapon holstered.
Well i'm downloading smrter for cop. Is installing mods for steam different from the retail version?
Nope.
Good.

Also Tint put the mods section back in the OP please
I like playing AMK, but I can't stand the fact that there's no visual indication on my screen that there's an anomaly nearby. Maybe I've been playing too much CoP, but I'm pretty sure there's some sort of visual effect on your hud in SoC when there's an anomaly close by. Is there any way I can do this for AMK?
I want to find the 'Let's get S.T.A.L.K.Y.' thread and try it with DFTP but I can't find it :(
I never like 'Dirge for planet' or 'firelake' :saddowns:
heathen.
Ok, my first impression of STALKER was really bitter/sweet.
Sweet because it's awesome. I love how it's actually challenging because it's realistic, and not because the enemies health is just jacked up or something stupid. It's the second Ukrainian made game I've played, the other being Metro 2033, both of which I have fallen in love with.
5 artifacts out of 5
Bitter because I'm so used to American games. When I first played, I took every single mission at once, thinking I could just do them casually as I explore, like most American games. Nope. These have mission timers (Which I also love), so I ended up failing 2 missions because of that. The bitterness is mainly opinionated and isn't the fault of the game.
Dunno if you get the stamina artifact you can use the immortality offered by endless sprint to do a whole bunch of missions in an afternoon of game time. That's half of them out of the way, the rest are the objectiveless ones, which are far more variable, but you might fail those even if you take them one at a time anyway.
Question.
Does Clear Sky really suck or are people just full of shit?
Don't know what the fuss is about, it's exactly like ShoC but with much better AI and some more interesting missions. Plus IMHO it has the best graphics of the three.

That's not the point :q:
Okay, maybe it's just me, but not only does AMK not give you any indication that there's an anomaly except for a few anomalies, it also seems to look worse. Everything looks so dull and boring, whereas in vanilla everything looks much better. This really turns me away from it, and I'm not sure if all of it's nifty features are worth the trade-off.

Wasn't that the old beta game cover?
Hey guys, you get to choose what's special about the new LR300 variant that Nimble sells in Redux! What's its story? What's so special about it?
Coolest idea becomes the gun!

There's no visual indicator in SoC apart from seeing the air waver.
CoP kinda had one, since most anomaly zones tinted your screen in some color and dealed slow damage.
