There's no visual indicator in SoC apart from seeing the air waver.
CoP kinda had one, since most anomaly zones tinted your screen in some color and dealed slow damage.
Didn't the screen get all grainy in SoC or am I just remembering stuff wrong?
Hey guys, you get to choose what's special about the new LR300 variant that Nimble sells in Redux! What's its story? What's so special about it?
Coolest idea becomes the gun!
A gun passed down from STALKERS every since Clear Sky. Has been modified with accuracy ,fire rate and a little damage in each shot every time its passed down. Stalkers only will give it to whoever they think deserves it. Nimble suddenly finds the rare gun next to the body of a Stalker clearly attacked by a bloodsucker. He thinks about keeping the gun he has heard a lot about in stories of the Zone's veterans or sell it to make it until next time he needs money. He picks the one that he thinks benefits him the most and sells it and today nobody buys the gun thinking its a fake version of The Zone Guardian until Degtyrev came along and decided to buy it.It is known as one of the most legendary guns ever used in the Zone and rookies who hear the stories know it as a gift from the Zone.
Both.
Alright then, back in ~30 minutes.

That was radiation.

I think a "gift from the Zone" story would work better with some really basic gun, like a unique version of the Toz-34. I don't think vanilla even has one.
Another story, Strelok had one owned this gun during the days he was still a rookie. In one accident he had lost the gun in a space anomaly. He had to work for days until he could afford another gun like this. And when he did he had forgotten about the gun he lost. When the second emission happened all anomalies shifted and affected everything in the environment including what had seem to be the forgotten gun. When a group of scientist found the gun and examined it when they realized it has been altered by almost every anomaly in the Zone, they have proclaimed it to be the most powerful gun in the Zone. At one point in its history our fellow Stalker Nimble managed to snatch it from the scientist and bring it back to fulfill the order of a experienced Stalker called Degtyrev. No one knows to this day the mysterious appearance of the gun and also why and how this gun survived the second emission without turning into ashes.

Most of the gravitational anomalies had your screen go white and grainy. The more deadly the bigger the effect. There were also silent ones like the wind, flame and electricity ones of course.
I don't remember that. I guess it's been too long since I last played vanilla.
The wooden floor boards creaked underneath him loudly, as Nimble carefully advanced into the old, overgrown Church. A light breeze moved the branches of a small tree, which had made a home right next to the altar, a hoel in the roof right above it feeding it with sunlight and water. The Experienced Stalker had recently been contacted by an unknown person about a deal which involved a very, very potent weapon. As always the man couldn't say no to a challenge and the whole situation interested him, so there was nothing keeping him from leading in this case to the end. Now he was back in the Great Swamps, a calm evening breeze envolping him as he explored the remains of a Church - the set meeting place by this mysterious trader.
The contact had asked for money on hand, so the Stalker had to carry with him a rather large bag full of lovely bills. Not an exactly wise idea, but whatever the situation required. Adaptability was a very useful skill in the Zone, Nimble knew that, it is a factor which could be the border between your survival and death. His watch struck 19:00 - the meeting was about to take place, so he took off the bag, set it up on a nearby bench, loaded his gun and sat down next to the bag. Better safe then sorry.
Immediately his caution was rewarded tenfold as a bullet whizzed past him and landed itself into the bench next to him. Nimble almost shot up and traced the flight path of the almost fatal object - it had gone right through the wooden wall of the church, yet the calibre couldn't belong to anything more then a NATO gun. More gunshots could be heard and the Experienced Stalker jumped down on the ground, before more bullets sliced into the building, as little coulumns of light followed the path of them. He had to kill this guy before this Church would be his final resting place. Like a cat during a hunt he creeped up to the side wall and peered out of the one of the fresh holes. There, on the hill, the Hunter stood. His gun, what looked like a simple LR300, on his back, a cigarette in his teeth and a determined grin, as he approached the church.
A fatal mistake. A quick grenade trap could take care of him like nothing, yet Nimble couldn't risk the gun getting damaged, after all the customer did mean buisness. So with the speed of an ape his quickly clambed the scaffolding after dropping his jacket on the ground. Perching on the wood construction above the large room he awaited the arrival of the foolish Hunter. And soon he came.
Converse sneakers, a tunic worthy of a priest and a cross hanging around his neck. What a type. Nimble unsheathed his combat knife and silently moved right above the unsuspecting man, who was looking around for the corpse. A jump and a quick stab later there was indeed a corpse on the floor.

A special modified LR300 crafted by a mad priest in the Great Swamps. A fragment of a Snowflake artifact has been integrated into the firing mechanism. This however has added a lot of heat to the firing mechanisms, so the rate of fire has been considerably toned down, effectivley transforming the gun into a sub-sniper rifle. Two small crosses have been carved into the barell of the gun, a grim reminder of the previous owner.

Nimble:,, Yeah, sorry, I guess this gun really isn't taken from fresh hands. I had a rather rough fight with its previous owner, who had went completely crazy. The weapon, however, really is top notch.

Damage from 30 to 55.
Handling from 80 to 75.
Accuracy from 75 to 92.
RoF from 685 RPM to 180 RPM.
I tried.
One thing I like more about CS compared to CoP is that there are negative effects for upgrades. I feel CoP's super rapid fire, super accurate, super powerful guns just aren't as fun as being forced to focus on one aspect of your weapon. I could mod this to fix it, but just voicing my opinion. Granted, this is a very minor gripe, and not one that bothers me ever when actually playing the game.
Actually, how about making the LR-300 a battle rifle variant? Only semi-auto mode, lower magazine count, different ammunition type (if possible), but more power and accuracy.

Amen to this. I loved creating slow firing weapons in CS.
If you want to make the game more difficult. Try to play the game with a double barreled hunting shotgun, a pistol and a leatherjacket. Don't use any advanced tools or artifacts. That's the real way.
The real way is to play the game while submitting yourself to all the things you get in the game. Get irradiated, drink vodka, shoot yourself, burn yourself. :smug:

Sounds like a great idea
A while ago there was a Stalker in the Arena near Rostok. Small man, quick on his feet, very good shot. Had a reputation for running in and ending fights quicker than anyone. Had a very nice LR-300 modified to suit his needs. Unfortunately he wasn't particularly smart and ran into an anomaly head first. I picked up his weapon for a decent price and now it's yours.
Damage from 30 to 15.
Handling from 80 to 95.
Accuracy from 75 to 85.
RoF from 685 RPM to 900 RPM.
Very little recoil with high accuracy and RPM, very low damage to compensate. Made for close-medium range accurate shots, aim for the head.
Pretty much based around the way I play and to give something different from the standard modifications.
I tried.
Awesome stuff as usual - only thing is I had actually already used this idea for an Abakan :P
[editline]02:45PM[/editline]
The whole sniper-battle-rifle thing.
In CS, the modification tree gave you the option of Accurate and slow or fast and inaccurate. Why not create something fast and accurate with the sacrifice of power?
I'm looking to try and do a nifty new upgrade system for weapons and armour in Redux 2.0.
[editline]03:06PM[/editline]
Along the lines of trading one stat for another.
Also, the Abakan with an extended magazine shoots two bullets at the same time. Look into it, it seems like a bug.
That's a quality of the Abakan itself, it's a fire-mode. The regular one does it too, but in the beta the modified versions don't have full-auto, which IS a bug!

What if I fall in a whirligig? Should I vacuum myself?
Also Para, what is your mad-monk weapon named?
Call it MM Type 2 :v:
Also Tint put the mods section back in the OP please
I'll just post the thread Amez made in the custom forum, a list would take too much space.
If you want it updated, get on amez' ass.
Seriously, no-one checks the custom forum - just put it back in the OP, it's not like there's a limit on size...

When you said tinted I thought you were talking about me. :v:

Picture limit.
Picture limit.
It's not like you have 50 pictures.
It's not like you have 50 pictures.
I'm paranoid.

The OP is tiny man...
Plus I'm to lazy to make descriptions for every mod and I'd hate to steal from someone.
