Excellent excellent, CoP ran fine last night. Open today and it crashes loading the main menu every time, re-installed and all still broken. Excellent!

http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1413521 Apparently it has something to do with the Gamespy servers.

But how will I tell all my stalker buddies about my latest accomplishments!
You can plug it out, start the game and load a savegame and plug it in again. I just did that and everything is working fine, Steam overlay and everything. Good hunting, stalker.

I click the link and the site is http://www.apparently it has something to do with the gamespy servers.com/
he did the "link naming" thing backwards
I swear to god gamespy is the shittiest online gaming service ever. It's the Punkbuster of server management.
I hate most online services that aren't steam.

Page 28? Bad, stalkers. Maybe you'll be able to skip Page 34 when I'm shopping or drinking today.
Dude, it's the Backwater of the Zone, it's meant to be foggy every day.
It's hardly backwater, it's closer to the NPP than Pripyat.
Okay, then it's Northwater. Or creek.
:saddowns:
There should be a new set of ambient sounds for the fog weather cycle. Like, mournful wails that emanate from deep within the shifting depths, or the sound of movement JUST outside your range of vision... Now I scared myself :tinfoil:
And that "somebody is walking behind you and in the bushes" noise you get in Clear Sky's Red Forest. That thing made me shat bricks and randomly shoot everywhere.
CS Red Forest was probably the creepiest non-underground area in the series.
CS Red Forest No Armor No Antirad No NVG No Flashlight Midnight Makarov Only FINAL DESTINATION
Makarov Only
More like bolt only
CS Red Forest was probably the creepiest non-underground area in the series.
I didn't really experience that because I was pretty much always running full-tilt towards the space anomaly. FUCKING SNORKS YOU CAN'T KILL ME IF YOU CAN'T CATCH ME. It just occurred to me what would be really awesome in a foggy environment-- silhouettes. Especially of BIG THINGS. So you're walking along, and then ahead of you some indistinct thing glides silently through the fog across your path. The Zone needs big mutants. Mutated worms that tunnel hellish paths through the soil of the zone, emerging only occasionally to release gas. God help the stalker that stops to rest in the path of of these nightmarish behemoths.

North of the NPP are the generators iirc' dunno if they're there in the current storyline, though I tried to find the images from the "original storyline" google docs page, but the pictures have apparently died we will never again discover the glorious original map plans ;_;
They should dig around at that huge polygon Northwest of the CNPP since that place seems to be the least suspicious looking place in the Zone, at least on the map it does.
That would be completely awesome. An opportunity not only to explore some extremely twisted and deformed geography, but an entirely new kind of underground level. Basically, you go between exploring the destroyed, warped corridors of an underground research facility and moving through the tunnels of the Worm that tore it apart. You're not going to kill the worm. You have no hope of even injuring it. You can only frantically avoid it as it hums and threshes its way through its home, searching for the disturbance. You need to find documents relating to what exactly they were doing in this underground complex and why it was destroyed by this...thing. Good luck, stalker.
Damn you Joe now I want to make my own STALKER. :saddowns: Oh well, at least I could get a job in GSC if I'm lucky.
Damn you Joe now I want to make my own STALKER. :saddowns:
Well I'm sitting alone in my room at 3AM creeping myself out. I'd play some STALKER or Dead Space or something but my computer is several states over right now. So I'm doing this. Really, this should be its own game. Like a creepy, first-person Shadow of the Colossus with a post-apocalyptic twist. And I can totally imagine the noise the Worm would make as it churned through the tunnels towards you with hellish speed. It would be something like HOWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO only with more bass, like, ground, rumbling, mind-shattering sound.
Also, Northwest as in this place:
