I don't know about that. I keep running into like 5 to 10 zombie's walking around with high end weapons. That kill me every time.
Do what I do; keep your binoculars out and frequently check for enemies in the distance. When you see someone who looks like a challenge, get to a covered position and snipe them. If everyone is wandering around with high level weapons, I'm sure you can pick up a nice VSS or whatever.
I like that. I'm tired of getting pistol/MP5 sniped by zombies all the time. If zombies are going to be dangerous, then by God let them be dangerous with explosives! [editline]12:30AM[/editline] In fact I don't think I've ever been attacked with an RG6 grenade launcher in any STALKER game, ever.
Redux best be worth it over SGM or I'm gonna be most displeased.
Just back up your gamedata folder and a coupla saves. No risk. I've already done everything in SGM though.
I think that the fact that certain achievments are now useless, it might not be worth doing certain things in Redux.
I agree, there should be some sense of working towards something, in the same way that you'd work towards a quest reward. I like how SGM gave the player persistent rewards (like the Marksman bonus) for accomplishing difficult tasks.
wow, redux is really not that great at all. maybe it's just me. everything feels halfassed about it. [editline]03:50AM[/editline] i don't know. i'll try it again tomorrow. there's just something about it that feels REALLY ODD. I can't quite place it. Maybe it's just COP.
Go to "Add non-steam game," click "browse," find the COP .exe, hit OK. Then rename the shortcut by right-clicking it and going to "properties."
I do that, but it always starts up the little (STALKER CALL OF PRIPYAT HONK COPYRIGHT GSC ETC) and then it shows me as not playing it on steam, and I don't have an overlay.

The overlay is fine on the Steam version, but I may have heard about people having problems with the retail version in Steam.
Morning everyone. I've fixed the crash regarding the tracer ammunition, I'm just going to see how many other bugs there are around that I can fix before releasing the first patch. Those of you complaining about starting-supplies - it is actually random. You have the possibility to get a helmet, vest, AK, pistol, 5 items of food, anti-rads, medkits, bandages and vodka. If you start with shit stuff first time, try again :) [editline]09:44AM[/editline] That said, for the first patch I've given a guaranteed 30 rounds of ammo at the start, since that seems to be wanted.
Do the beta testers get a mention at the start :3:
The complaint about the Achievments is not without reason. They do need rewards.

Like: "C:\Program Files (x86)\bitComposer Games\S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Call of Pripyat\bin\" (It needs the quotations) Worked for me.
The complaint about the Achievments is not without reason. They do need rewards.
Yeah, but see the problem with it is that the rewards are so incredibly overpowered :S [editline]09:59AM[/editline]
Do the beta testers get a mention at the start :3:
I mentioned and thanked you all profusely in the news post, didn't I?
I dont see any reason to loot bodies if their weapons are 70% of the time broken and unsellable. Removal of stashes pretty much cancels the point of exploration. I've just played Redux, and to be quite honest it's no different than the annoying beta version. The only thing I liked about it were the texture packs, the ballistics and weapons finally don't feel like you're shooting BB guns. The days of me unloading a magazine just to hit one lousy dog that keeps running in circles are over. Lack of crosshair and proper HUD annoys me as well, pretty much every single thing you loot off the NPC's is either broken or has a shit sell value which makes looting unrewarding as fuck. I know this mod is supposed to be extra super duper realistic but there are boundaries which it crosses and then it just becomes a hassle to even play imo.
downloaded redux, clicked sleeping time, woke up to a black screen, game crash gg
You could perhaps post the crash log, which would actually be mildly useful.
that was from hours ago, then i decided to play minecraft with a group of friends, and just now got off.
what
Welcome to the Zone.
great response. :downsbravo:
You totally don't get the point of Redux. It's hard. It's supposed to be hard. If you don't like it, it's the wrong mod for you. That's fine.
:smug:
Is redux any good for cop, should i try it?
Patch 1 is ready. Fixes the Ranger-Station crashes, as well as improves starting equipment. Use that link above until ModDB authorizes the file there.

It's not stupid, that's the point.
Redux is more of a harsh, unrewarding mod that never holds you for your hands, while SGM is a varied and a challenging mod that at least gives you an advantage as you progress.
