S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Series Megathread: If nobody will make it I will

I was just playing Redux, and had returned from the mission to ambush the loners at Shevchenko. I killed the bandits, looted them and the dead loners, then went back to Skadovsk to make a profit. I went to Beard, tried to sell him a Flint and Steel, and got this:
Expression : !m_error_code
Function : raii_guard::~raii_guard
File : D:\prog_repository\sources\trunk\xrServerEntities\script_storage.cpp
Line : 748
Description : ... pripyat\gamedata\scripts\xr_corpse_detection.script:346: bad argument #1 to 'random' (interval is empty)
Less than ten minutes before, I sold a box of matches and Flint and Steel to him with no problem. :v:
Well crap. Redux is so taxing I'm getting RAM failures...
I have....
Wow what, I haven't noticed any distant MEOW-ing in Redux :psyberger:

Also, Thorny
The Duty warehouse is completely empty, I was looking forward to get some new equipment :gonk:

Use less graphical enhancements.

Do you go out at night?
And yeah, I know :)
So, should I get SGM or Pripyatan?
I think Redux is too hardcore for me so I wonder which one would be better.
Also what is in SGM? There's not much info on SGM compared to Pripyatan but I'm still torn between both.
SGM is basically a massive overhaul mod. Only a handful of the old missions are the same, the new storyline is much longer and better. It adds more guns, makes upgrades less of a requirement and more of just a nice thing to have i guess. New suits, new factions. New achievements. Oh and a ranking system that rewards you with cash and stashes. Really nice, overall.

I agree with DeVotchKa. If your think Redux will be too hardcore you might want to consider avoiding pripyatan for now. Both are mods worth playing though, as well as Redux.
I'm gonna play some SGM this weekend I think.

Though this is not to say SGM isn't hardcore (damn Alpha Squad) it's just not on the level of Redux and other mods.
Redux is great, I want to strangle my monitor. The one thing I don't like is no upgrading at all, I liked fiddling with my gear like that.

Yeah, it was a shame I had to take it out.
That said, I'll be putting an amazing new system in for v2.0 :)

Yeah. Redux and PRIPYATAN are more "start out just barely surviving, then work your way up to be a competent stalker." SGM is more like "start out a normal stalker, then become A GOD." One-shotting chimeras and making over 1 million rubles per day in bank interest has its charms :v:
That said, I had over 100K RU in PRIPYATAN before I investigated a single helicopter or left Zaton. My biggest enemy, however, is my RAM. Somehow, this mod uses even more memory than SGM and crashes me over twenty minutes or so, usually when I try to save :arghfist::saddowns:
I'm still getting the weird save/load errors I had in Redux v.86. I can save and load once, but after any attempt to save or load twice and so on causes my computer to crash.
There's one thing I haven't really noticed until now in call of pripyat
the pseudo dogs are not real pseudo dogs

Maybe a 1.5 release? It would be nice to have it quickly because it was rather odd to have taken that out. That's like taking out bullets but leaving guns in. A pointless removal and a very dumb one.
By the way did you remove strelok's stashes?
Also in safe areas I noticed that you removed the food items from the tables. Perhaps you could instead replace them with inert versions that you cannot pick up? They made the stuff look better decorated.
A female can dress like a man, and not look butch.
I fround the only way to do things in redux. Kill everything that move's.
I can't really imagine your average female wielding an assault rifle and going into a nuclear wasteland that's been cordoned off by the government to find artefacts.
But I have faith in GSC, they know what they're doing.
Something tells me the player is going to be the female.
:froggonk:
I think you can choose to be male or female. I know what you mean by average female, but look at some female's that like to shot gun's. 50% or good looking, and the other 50% are ugly.
I don't want to be a chick Strelok :ohdear:
I don't want to be a chick Strelok :ohdear:
Who said you play as him?
Or do you mean rifleman?

I think it's more of a matter of if they can shoot guns and if they're willing to go into the zone.
I wouldn't want to be restricted to only a female in Stalker, but to say a girl couldn't, wield a gun, 15kg armor, and survive in the extremely hostile zone is just ridiculous. I can think of a few movies and TV shows that kept both the woman's femininity, but at the same time felt and acted like a warrior. I say TV shows and movies because vanilla stalker is not a realistic game, but I do believe women were in the russian army during WWII, and with success, no?
Obviously, you can't simply change the gender and voiceover the same scripts with a female voice, there are completely different mannerisms, but it's doable.
I'm just saying it seems like female stalkers would be rare, as males tend to be more reckless because (biologically) we're not that special.
I don't think gsc is going to make female's look hot and what not. I think they'll find away to fit them into the zone.

I was just using his name as an example.
And I really can't see women do half the shit stalkers do.

Sit around a fire?
Look at the books. There's women in them.

No, like fight a bloodsucker, go into an electric anomaly and so forth. Plus, not being sexist, but I don't wan't some feminist crap in the game either.
How is CoP in comparison to SHOC and CS? Considering getting it, but I didn't really like CS as much as SHOC. (apart from the ability to be a bandit :v:)
[editline]09:39PM[/editline]
I never made it to Limansk though. :C And Pripyat was easily my favorite part of SHOC.
If you like stalker as a series then get it
